Having truck problems on the road while towing is always an adventure. It's a good thing Ang was there to "supervise" the diagnostics data gathering 🤣 My mother used to always provide my dad "advise" while he was doing projects around the house, he couldn't stand it. He called Mom the Sidewalk Superintendent. Great channel, great content.
Jif extra crunchy! Hope the misfires go away… I’m saying this after my wife and I shopped at a thrift store for our 8 day old granddaughter’s onesie. Enjoying your travels!
Cody you got this if anyone can figure it out you can And with Angela’s help you can make it back to FIRST ON RACE DAY. But when you do get ready for a new Truck the F350 diesel or the Ram 3500 would be great choices. Love the video and the knowledge of the OBD reader. Angela you and cody make my day when I see these videos y’all keep me laughing they way y’all pick at each other. Stay safe and happy travels.
Hopefully the truck stays behaving. Those 7.3 also had some issues with the camshaft in them as well, hopefully that's not the issue and it's something small. Kudos to you guys for always sharing the real life issues that you guys encounter.
We aren’t running in to anything (so far) that will lead us to believe that we are having any lifter systems. Time will tell, but so far, so good! I’m hoping it was just needing to relearn itself.
Hello guys, concerning your truck, I chased a similar problem with the exact symptoms of your truck on my granddaughter’s car, after changing wires, coil packs and plugs twice, the problem was improper plug gap while the plugs should have been pre-gaped turns out both sets I put in were incorrect. I re-gaped them and the problem was solved. Lesson learned, always check your gaps before installing new plugs. Hope this helps, enjoy your travels. G
This is a great point! Gaps are good in our case, I should’ve filmed that part! The issue seems to be resolved after our last couple of moves. I’m thinking the PCM reboot got us fixed but I’m on the lookout for any little thing now. It’s made me paranoid 😂
I just bought a 2020 Ram diesel. I am pretty handy with a gas engine. I have a learning curve, UA-cam and Google is my friend. I am going to start with the simple stuff ie oil change and general maintenance. Another great video guys, safe travels and God speed.
I’m thinking maybe guy that told you truck had to relearn might have something. These truck computers r smart. lol. It sure didn’t hurt to try to clean up fuel system too. I have a diesel now n have not no idea what to do if I had problems never worked on diesel before. My dad was an auto mechanic all his life but on gas engines. Hope it works now. I’ve been buffing n waxing our travel trailer truck n car this week. Fun fun but they look great. It was worth the effort. Jeff n Karen.
So far so good on this one. I have some limited experience on diesel engines, buyer a lot has changed in 20 years. Ha! I’m not sure that I would know either.
Ugh! We weren’t able to pin it down to a specific cylinder, but since we did the PCM reboot, we may be in the clear. Time will tell. I hate to replace ALL of the coils if that ends up being the case. I’m hoping IF it happens again, I can narrow it down.
Wait...I'm supposed to do something when that light comes on?! 👀👀👀👀👀 Been riding with mine on for going on 2 years. 😂 (OK... I do know what it's coding and I do get the codes checked every now and then to make sure a new one isn't popping up). Have considered the "black sharpie" method of fixing it. -J
We may know a thing or two about having truck problems on the road 😂. I bought a code reader 📱 for the truck as I see it as mandatory equipment these days.
Yes Cody I have a 2018 f350 gas engine 6.2 liter I literally had 40,000 miles on it and just put gas in and it had maybe 15 miles on that tank of gas and it is was misfiring and jumping around so bad that it wouldn’t go hardly anywhere turned out it was bad gas
Thankfully it was something small! I suspect that ours was just needing to relearn itself, but unless the light comes back on, we won’t know. So far, so good! (Knock on wood) At least with a gas engine, you can often fix bad gas. Diesel..not so much.
Just checking to see if you used OEM plugs and wires. I see aftermarket wires have misfires brand new. If you bring to Ford they will switch them right out.
One thing it might be is a lot of those programs won’t completely clear all the codes that get stored in History codes. Only thing I could completely clear the codes was the Ford program. Which makes you bite the bullet and get a Ford dealer to clear them unless there is a shop that has Fords program on a laptop
Hey fellow Arkansans. Do you ever watch the you tube channel RV miles? He just posted a video about his truck and its problems. I believe his truck and engine and problems may be the same as yours. Stay safe.
Okay thanks! I think we may be good now, but time will tell! I’m hoping that means that it was just relearning itself. I plugged in to it again and nothing is reading, after several hundred miles.
Vote? I watched you guys register when going through Rapid City. I have been a full timer for 5 years, like you guys. I sent my registration into Rapid City. They sent me a letter back saying I could not vote because I just had a mailbox in South Dakota. Bummed!! I called Escapees in Livingston, they said this was happening a lot…😢 Did you get to vote? Loving the vids..
That is odd! Are you actual registered with South Dakota as a resident? We signed up for the mail in option and we’re waiting to get it. It should be soon. But if you want that option, I would do it quick!! I’ll see if I can track it. You may check with the SD DMV. Now, you may be restricted with being able to vote in local elections, which we are good with. I don’t need to have a say in the local school systems
@@RVUntethered yes, it was the dmv from Rapid city that sent me the letter. I put in my address at Box Elder. The letter said “we do not accept your box elder as a residence” Your voter registration indicates a post office box mailing business address as your personal residence. A business address cannot be used as your voter registration address. An acceptable voter registration address is where you actually reside in Pennington county…lol Anyway, thanks for the videos. I enjoy your trips. I’m in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan waiting on the trees to turn. Safe travels!!☺️
I just checked my voter card and my absentee ballot is on its way. I’m not sure what the deadline is, but if you are in Pennington County, you may call them. I’ll put the phone and website that I have. 605-394-2153 www.sdsos.gov (If you click the menu in the corner, scroll all the way down and there are resources to check your voter registration. There are also options to apply for absentee ballots if there is still time)
Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to change the fuel filter too if suspecting fuel issue. If the filter shows any water then you could count that as a contributing issue to the problem.
I think on our truck the fuel filter is built on to the fuel pump. We don't have an external fuel filter at all. I'm not sure why they don't do this any more like the old days on the gas trucks.
It isn’t a percent solution, but I have found that if I ‘carefully’ warm up the metal with a heat gun and then again to help melt it to the door. I haven’t had any luck getting them to stick otherwise.
Ha honestly I don’t know. Our front windows weren’t tinted when we bought it and we had them tinted to match the back (from the factory). It’s not too dark.
Ha sorry! I guess it was more for the technical people or someone looking for an option. But, so far so good! It’s hard to say, since time is the key, but we may be in the clear!
Another 'check engine' light? sigh... not again. is it time to change the oil? or brake pads? should you 'fill up' on the way home tonight or wait until in the morning? Transmission fluid? Radiator fluid? The best thing I ever did was buy a Tesla Model Y. If I want to camp in the U.S., I'll get a Cybertruck for now. I'm sure a van version is coming. In the meantime, you keep fussing over ICEs.

Thank you for saying that! We are looking at a variety of trucks, knowing that time is coming, sooner than later.
Nice job with the truck! That can be the scariest part of traveling! Ask us how we know LOL! Safe travels!
