Or another time where I went back to my hotel from my friend's house in Bukit Batok and the Grab driver asked me "Bro you going for your night shift is it". Hahaha. Good times.

It's no different than an Asian person moving to America at a young age and speaking with an American accent amongst their friends, then speaking their native language and accent at home with their family. Very common amongst many cultures of 1st generation immigrants in America. Even 2nd generation kids who were born and raised in America can switch to their motherland accent and language seamlessly.
