      @@scottysurvival The amount of knowledge you can learn from Dad survival is better then any college could teach, the older Generations are full of wisdom, just as their parents were. We Americans are slowly losing this hands on wisdom, learning from doing, maybe making mistakes but then finding better ways of doing stuff by doing it..Just as you have learned from doing, going out in the woods, making mistakes but also learning, thank you Scotty, this video says a lot more then some would think..

    CFP is one of the few rucks that is easy to repair due to its opening at the top and bottom. I used to use one. The suspension is garbage and ruins an otherwise good rucksack, so I simply sewed on my own suspension with my household sewing machine and appropriate thread and never had an issue. My only issue after that is at the time I could fit inside the ruck so i ended up switching to something more stature appropriate..

    • @scottysurvival
      @scottysurvival  Рік тому +1

      O yes I agree on the suspension for sure. This one turned out solid. It's one of the most comfortable packs I have wore other than the MOLLE ll ruck. I have the patrol pack that goes with this pack, but it's super uncomfortable. Thanks for watching 😎👍💯

    I made a different repair. I made a 3/16" thick aluminum "duckfoot" to replace the original item. 3 x 2" wide slots milled in each of the upper, slanted edges; 6 milled slots total. I attached (sewed) 2 inch wide webbing extensions to original shoulder straps., which were removed from the original "Duckfoot". The shoulder straps can be adjusted via the slots, as well as the "duckfoot" using the original plastic track. Some combination of your repair and my approach might be ideal. Good on you for thinking outside the box! FWIW, I have also seen a person sew on multiple 1" wide webbing straps + buckles to the sides of the CFP-90, and mount it to a MOLLE 2 frame, using the MOLLE 2 shoulder straps and waistbelt.

    Great fix! Unfortunately the entire Seabee Community had these without the “fix”. It was a nightmare to say the least. Not to mention the attachable square assault pack that came with them had very small shoulder straps and was difficult to use with body armor. Most of us purchased other options or used the previous gen ALICE packs. Since the ILBE was in “MARPAT”, we couldn’t use it. The CFP90 was a stopgap solution until the FILBE came out.

    • @scottysurvival
      @scottysurvival  Рік тому

      I bet. That had to be a pain. I have 2 of the cfp-90 assault packs and they are small. I noticed wearing one with cold weather coat on it was very tight to get on and off. More like a pain. I would say the MOLLE ll Ruck is very good I have one and very comfortable. I think the assault and patrol packs for those are better and bigger. The ILBE is nice as well. Thanks for watching

      I own a couple of CFP-90's & it appears that they have a problem with the plastic fixtures where the straps attach to the pack & slide up & down on the torso adjustment "rail" The fixtures deteriorate with age, go brittle & literally disintegrate. In my opinion the concept & comfort of the pack isn't too bad (with the exception of the incompatibility issue with body armor) If the major design flaw (the plastic adjustment system) had been addressed it may have found a niche in operational use. Anyone else found a solution to this problem?
