Its a great truck. Its time to refresh the whole truck to remain competive. I own a 2021 Colorado and it has given me zero problems and meets my needs after down sizing from full size trucks. Looking forward to seeing the 2023 refresh.
My feelings are yes and no. The colorodo is still the best overall V6 and the gas mileage is just a hair under ranger. And has the best 0-60 time. If towing is your thing the diesel is also best in class. Payload isn't the worst but could be improved. Mostly the colorodo is aging stylistically. Without updating it would still leading the pack in overall performance.
I test drove one and loved it... naturally aspirated v6 308 hp, towing 7000 lbs. The one I test drove had the long bed and I like the look better than the short bed. Thanks for the review. Chevy has come a long was since the 1997 Chevy s10 blazer I owned.
I drove a 2003 Ford Ranger Thunderbolt sport truck, up until I got my 2017 Z71. I got it about 1 and a half years ago. Loved it from the time I sat in it. It called my name, I onl issue I have is The drivers seat is starting to come apart. I look at the new Ranger, but just didn't do anything for me.
Had a 19 myself traded for a 21 Ranger which during first 4K miles been back to the dealer about 4 times once stranding my 250 miles away from home. The dealership support where I bought it was horrendous a few others fair but overall Fomoco has about the worst CS I think I have ever had to use! I’m talks with Chevy dealership about a 22 Colorado trying to figure if it’s a move I really wanna make. All been leases really like the new Nissan they said sone bs about not being able to buy out Ford leases a Hyundai dealership said something similar. Does anybody know if the 22 has side warnings in side mirrors? Anyway I am considering might even look at Canyon
I don't understand what the big deal is about push button start? Personally I prefer a key. I mean just how lazy can ya get with all these features vehicles have now. Seems like nobody wants to actually drive their vehicles anymore. ( lane assist, back up cams, emergency braking, so on and so on). If you actually pay attention to driving you wouldn't need all that stuff .
You've clearly never owned a vehicle with keyless start, then. It's very convenient to get in and go and is a deal-killer for a lot of people who got used to it. Tens of thousands of crashes a year are prevented because of the safety systems. "anymore..." this was always an issue: preventable accidents.
The Colorado Z71 reminds me of the Ford Ranger. I’ve sat in many Chevy trucks but I’ve never driven any. Not a truck I would purchase but I do love this particular model.
That view of the mountains reminds me of my time at Aviano AB Italy, driving around town and the roads are clear but the mountain tops are covered in snow! I see some of the roads are in bad condition and some are like new!
It needs it in a bad way. I had a 2018 z71 and it had a nice ride. I had the all black leather option. And it did make a difference because i dont like 2 tone. The auto 4wd is awsome. It is very outdated and under styled. Options are none existent. More tourq for sure.
It is a sharp looking truck.. I have a 2016 red hot colorado and I get alot of compliments. If something looks good don't change it. Toyota 2022 just redesigned its Tundgra and the front looks rediculous. Keep trucks looking like trucks. FRANKIE FLORAL PARK LONG ISLAND
Does it need an interior redesign: YES, but so do the Tacoma & Ranger. Supposedly 2023 is when most of the mid-sizes get revamped. Nissan just introduced a new Frontier & even that truck is bland. Let’s also keep in mind that this truck is less than $40K in Z71 4x4 trim. That same coin will barely get a F-150 XL work truck with a very basic interior. In order to start getting the bells & whistles in trucks; you’re paying well North of $50K in most instances; may not even get leather either.
Chevy is long overdue to re-designed the Colorado. There’s no intelligent key and you still have to put the key into the ignition to start the engine. Outdated and needs a re-design.
I luv my 2022 Z71 for the quiet ride and handling. However, good luck charging your smart phone in the tiny charger. And, Chevy is now making you use Onstar (which GM owns)or your phone for Navigation. Onstar wants 39.00 per Month or you better have a smart phone if you want to use the navigation.
love my 2017 Z71 Diesel.. no issues except for infotainment screen spazzing out recently (screen ghost touches) and squeaky front suspension rack but my service interval is due
Awful this truck lacks style GM is loads behind into he midsize truck segment they have finally fixed the full size segment and not they have to address it a redesign like the new Silverado and Sierra they looks amazing
Finally someone that speaks common sense!!!! I want to (drive) a truck, if i wanted all these sensors and googaws id buy a small SUV for the city. Utility and practicality should come first (like rear locking diff. ) not push button start and lane departure for the sallys too afraid to haul or get a bit of mud on their vehicle.
imo it’s the better looking mid size front end of the competition. Tacoma’s are becoming bulky over done blobs, and the rangers overall have a terrible shape. I only prefer these colorado with the longbed. Without the long bed they look stunted in the rear like a ridge line 😂
No bed liner is sorta horrible ..like really ..let's just scratch the whole be dof tryck of and let ot rust ..it wpuld be no sale because that alone..let alone its like it was made in 2006 because the options
I never understand why they don’t put a blind spot mirror on both sides. It’s stupid, and that alone would stop me from getting the truck…. It’s out of balance…. OCD ☑️
Anybody 2022 colorado (Z71) passenger mirror have a high pitch whistle when going 50+ (obviously windows down)? Had mine in shop 3 times for it, they finally got GM involved and GM said they currently can't do anything about it. I dont see them fixing the problem unless more people complain. The dealership also tested 3 others in the lot and they have same issue.
Yes. I just got a 22 Colorado this week. I didn’t know it was the mirror, but on the highway I noticed a whistle coming from the passenger side while the window was down
@@jwoodford84 I'm trying to get the word out about this. I paid $50,000 for a whistling truck 😡 I was so mad when I went to pick up my truck yesterday. The dealership tried replacing my mirror and gluing it... nothing worked. They finally got GM involved (TAC case) and thats when GM said nothing they can do to fix problem right now. Its a leak (gap) coming from the bottom side. You can cup your hand around it or put your finger on it and it will go away.. The dealership said the technician is filling out a field report. I've looked at colorado forms online about this issue and people has been having issues since 2015. If they were going to fix it... it would have already been done. I'm trying to spread the word everywhere I can but need others to help. Im posting on tiktok (since this is popular.. even made my own video about it), Facebook, insta, and youtube. I dont know if it will get me anywhere but im trying lol
It was supposedly fixed in early 2019. I have a Feb built 19 with no trans issues to date. It was said to be a fluid issue with an accumulation of moisture, but I think it's partly in the trans tune too. Believe it or not I think the trifecta tune would help the issue out too, as it doesn't allow the trans to lug at low rpms in too high of a gear like the factory tune does (for fuel mileage purposes).
@@CommanderCronus hard to truly say. You're unlikely to get a good deal because of supply issues, 22 is probably the last model year of the body style, so you'll see depreciation sooner than a new or mid cycle model of another brand, but 22 is likely the most reliable of the colorados you'll find.
But they still have that awful 8 speed trans. Had nothing but trouble out of my '18 Canyon and I'm not the only one. Its been so bad I will never buy GM again.
Just purchased a 2022 Chevy Colorado 2wd Z71 and had it on the turnpike, the ride was firm, but it’s a truck. I didn’t get pushed around by semi’s and it has great pick up to get out of the way. Coming from a 2015 Equinox the ride is more sporty than comfortable, but that’s half the fun.
Nice truck like the simple interior and a good old fashioned key to start the car. Trucks should be masculine and not wimpy and feminine. 3.6 from GM is strong but Will the automatic transmission be reliable?? Probably not. Toyota and the New Frontier better options.
ill wait at least fie years till they sort out all the buys and buy it ten cents on dollar!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All vehicles from 2019 till now will and have major expensive issues!!!!!!!!!!!

Ive had nothing but good luck with GM and nothing but bad from Ford. Not hating on them, I've just had bad luck. Heck the farm GM truck is almost 40 years old and she still runs good. I really do appreciate your reviews especially since I’ve been trying to decide which mid size truck I want. I seam to keep going to your reviews

You can say the same about Tacoma’s but people will keep buying them so they don’t need to

oh! and the steering wheel materials are crap. get a proper steering wheel wrap (not a slip-on) and you're good.

No, just widen the tire/wheel space to fit 33-35 inch tires, ZR2 is looking bad now, it’s looking like having Lexus grill.
Yes, not a fan of the front of the new Colorado. 1st get looked way better. Now the current zr2 looks amazing
Would you review the 2022 RST Z71 silverado please
Very nice car, big liked

Chevy/gmc gotta change this God awful interior!!! It's the only thing keeping me from buying these. Right now frontier gotem beat
How is this truck on the freeway with those tires?
