Ben Howard's "Follaton Wood", Filmed on Nikon D3100, Ile De Re, France, 2012 NEW VIDEO!!!!! BURGH ISLAND EP by BEN HOWARD CHECK. IT. OUT! • Ben Howard - Burgh Island
when I listen to Ben Howard I feel like im in my own little world, his instrumental skills (chris and indias too) It truly makes my smile. not only can I relate too must of his work, its truly sad to think what this song is about. I LOVE BEN HOWARD!!!!
As much as I love the video and its beautiful. It may not sound like it, it's strange how such a nice and uplifting song could be about something so sad and destructive, most evidence from a lot of his songs lyrics say that Ben Howard had a girlfriend that had committed suicide. “Still don’t you forget, that rope you tied on your neck don’t free you darling” . And from an older song- “Maybe I could have changed your mind; Maybe you could thought about someone else, Rather than yourself, oh anybody but yourself. I tried so hard, to help you understand; To put some hope into your hands And all the time, you cried and said to me "Why can’t everything be right?” Truly sad. Im sorry Ben.
its a happy song cus he has only fond memories and everyone liked her. 'the whole town just stood there crying looking in the dark for something warm something good'. the something good is her soul being freed from the captivity of life. its a celebration of her life
This video is perfect for the song, good job, thank you :) by the way, I'm french and many of ben's songs make me think about our beaches, dunes, the ocean... just like this video, I recognize our atlantic coast imediatly !!! So, merci beaucoup !!!
shtroudel cocopana To say a song is specifically about something is incorrect I think. Music can be interpreted differently by anyone. In this case, yes the song is even supposedly about his ex-girlfriend who killed herself in Follaton wood which seems to be an area of woodland on the Cornwall/ Exeter border on the south coast of England. The lyrics of this song in parts are beautifully descriptive of the nature and environment where this story takes place and there is mention of happy times at the beginning which most people can relate to. Therefore this video probably is in many ways appropriate for the song as it reflects the youthful, vibrant and joyful atmosphere of the coast/ countryside in summertime: (Ohh and we were young). Yet, it has a slightly mournful and melancholy touch to it with the blue lens filters and observational filming style.

dav3bassman Lovely point you made. I think it's "looking at the darkness for something old something good"
The other song that is so dark and beautiful and heartbreaking is 'To The City'
Makes me cry every time.......
