I agree with you, her choice of a Beyonce song for that was somewhat interesting, it was a good thing that at least one chair turned for her. You might also want to watch The Voice quarterfinals where she sang a Jessie J. song, but lost in that one. It is said that she got discouraged because of that and almost gave up on her passion that is singing. Good thing again that she did not give up, otherwise she may have not gotten better, and we can see now how she has reached a top-level artistry and musicality, that she can do justice to making covers of songs of some of the greatest singers we have had. As you already know by now that she is a cover killer, I hope you can delve more on her original songs, in order to appreciate her more as an artist. Please check her earlier Wish Bus performances of "Di Mapaliwanag", "Diamante", "Throwback", "You and I", "Naririnig Mo Ba", and "Panaginip" (years 2015-2018) which are songs written for her and she is the original artist. Then watch her more recent performances of songs that she co-wrote with her husband Dave Lamar, namely "Phoenix", "Love You Still", "Will You Stay", "Mirror" and "Trophy". There are live performances on the Wish Bus and RX Monster Radio as well as with a live band (you can find these on her official UA-cam channel). It's your choice, but you will not go wrong in any of them. And because these latter five were her original works, please pay attention not only to the musicality of each but also to the lyrics as these were all personal to her.

I agree to some extent. Those artists were never really asked to do covers so that's kind of tough to say. However Whitney is outlier for me and I believe could do any of those artists. I think Mariah, and Beyonce sort of have a lane though.

I tend to compare Morissette's path with that of George Michael who redefined himself after Wham which took 7 years, hope she doesn't land in the same trap as the Bee Gees who never got rid of their Saturday Night Fever identity. There are fans of the "cover version" Morissette, fans of the Filipino hits of Morissette from her early phase (Throwback, Naririnig mo ba Ako, Diamante and other stuff written for her she rarely sings anymore) and fans of her Signature EP. But you did note the grown up vibe she gives off during her Bruno Mars medley. Guess she did struggle with getting into the business so early - with 14 - and always having to be what others expect of her. Her song Trophy is I think about that, Mirror as well. Her coming album will show who she has become by now with just 27.

Morissette "lost" The Voice with a Jessie J song and later admitted that she thought of quitting her singing career after that, what kind of "redeemed" her was Jessie J herself asked young Morissette to sing with her during a Manila concert, giving someone with a "loser" image in an often way too competitive country a "win". This song was written to her father who she has had a falling out with going back 4 or 5 years ago From what has been said. They haven't spoken and it is an emotionally hard song for her to perform). Then I would check out "Will You Stay" probably my favorite off her EP which had come out about 2 yrs ago. She wrote these songs with her fiance now husband Dave Lamar. Lastly, going back to her covers. She recently joined David Foster for several performances on his Philippines Tour. She did a Bodyguard Medley. I would check out the night she wore a red/orange dress. Someone can correct me.
Whitney Houston is my number two among the singers of the past, just after Aretha Franklin. You can't steal from those singers their most iconic songs, they will remain forever related to their interpretations. I think that overall Mori is a more eclectic singer and that there is no singer in the world, present or past, who can emulate her most emotional performances.
