i thought the game had slow motion feature when i was a kid
now i realize that the PS1 wasn't powerful enough lol
Some friend had lent me his PS1 with both Driver 1 & 2 and a memory card, but he said never save anything. And that was fine because there was the take a ride mode that I was more interested in anyway. That game was so atmospheric that driving around and discovering every part of those huge cities and enjoying how detailed they were was just enough for me.
the only thing that suck is when u have a PS1 but u dont have a memory card
I played through Resident Evil in 1997 without a memory card.

I miss this game so much. The one thing I remember vividly when I was just a young kid playing this was how scared I would be hearing those sirens behind me.

Y'know Find the clue was quite hard, but after a long time of repeating the mission I finally completed it.
Same here, it was a nightmare for me :/ This + Go to the airport (Stake out / Las Vegas)... though times
+Nano Cooper main roads are the safest
Nano Cooper Finally beat find the clue. Got in the right rhythm and beat the mission with 15 seconds to spare. It was the most intense and stressful 6 minutes of my life.

I remember the cars you're chasing are literally unstoppable. they have a specific path they follow and nothing can knock them of their path. kind of like invisible train tracks

Otherwise you would learn their path and smash them infront and end mission easly

This mission made my thumbs fall off! I would always wreck the truck one way or another. Also remember doing the stay alive as long as possible mini game where 30 or so psychotic police cars would ram into you and cause mayhem in the process 😝

THE BEST OF GAME
It was my childhood favorite game. I'm stuck on tail jericho task on ps1. I cried because that part got stuck. As I got older, that part was in my head. I opened it on ps1 emulator. He wanted CD 2 to pass that part. But I didn't have cd 2 of my childhood. Now I learned.
I never knew about this game but I like this kind of graphics xd
Find the file was a tough one. Got stuck on that frequently as a kid.

Remember as a kid "Hijack The Truck" was the Hell Mission
there is a great glitch. if you enter the blue car in the lock up and press full thortle at the same time, it will smash the wall sideways
I remember back days when I was a kid I didn't have any memory card and I didn't even know it was existing but since I loved the game I kept playing it over and over for hours and hours, I saw the game that has some stuff like Mafia so I was always expecting and waiting for a gun show like fighting with guns and stuff xD but it never happened, guess they are right it's called Driver :'D

In missions To the Docks and Escape Brazilians, you can see dynamic change of time! i noticed it back in the times, and could not understand why they did not bring it to free roaming
This is crazy i see it now! I never knew about that before! But i was a kid and was mostly playing free roam while my father did missions because they were too hard for me
My elementary school life right, but I raged TF out every time because of those damn enemy cars tryna ram you into stuff. I would've loved to have seen/played this on Ps3 -Ps5

"Just tail him nice'n easy" (first time I played I got pissed off having to "hang back" so much. I deliberately held circle and charged his ass. Ended up run'n into him ad the "failed" screen popped up.

The games that really need a remaster are not getting it...
The early driver games (up to driver 2) are weird. Even though their engine and graphics are dated, they feel more realistic than a modern GTA5 to me. It might be that imagination tends to fill the more unrealistic parts of the games and so it feels more realistic. I had the same effect in the Spyro games compared to their HD remakes. They simply felt... better... almost dreamlike, if this makes any sense.
Du sprichst mir aus der Seele! Sadly, it seems rare to find people speaking about the force of imagination in gaming. (That's why I still prefer my first Zelda game, A Link To The Past in certain aspects many out there hardly will get ... "Meeeh, Link has pink hair." .... WTF happened to the almighty Vorstellungskraft / Interpretation? Es ist doch mehr der Kontrast allein der hier zum Einsatz kommt ... that's another story). Although I played Driver 2, my addiction for Driver 1 on the pc wouldn't come to an end. With a steering wheel I spend days upon days for months just using the Take A Ride mode to get away as realistic as possible (no crossing of the side walks, no scratch) while listening to 70s and 80s music. Compared to GTA: Vice City a short time later, the driving physics felt much, much better - and personally speaking, they do up to this day! Since Vice city it felt like a rigid board sliding over the streets - a problem that seemed to become the natural formula for upcoming video games in general. You won't imagine how disappointed I got when "Driver San Francisco" came out. At a first glimpse, it appeared like a dream comes true: "A new Driver game with more realistic graphics, all set in my favourite city." - But at the end, the driving physics feel even worse than in GTA 5, only by watching the game via youtube. (My video game days almost ended in 2003 - I just follow the path of some franchises from a random distant view). Not one single curve without screeching tires. My actual point speaking about the physics of the first two Driver games is, I miss the freedom of action you had. It's utterly idiotic to think, every turn has to be done by drifting alone. Another thing, the AI of the police cars also had small almost realistic features, no sane cop would risk a frontal crash with your car; sometimes the cops avoided direct contact. Comparing it once more with Driver San Francisco, where the cops are stubborn mini-tanks clued to your car's ass. In general, you had far more control over the driving manoeuvres.
In take a ride, if you choose the yellow muscle car, and drive as fast as you can forward, you will get to the draw bridge going up just in time.. and the jumps are incredible.And yeah those cop cars are are psychopathic monsters. See them flying thru the air ect.. insane..
yes it had fantastic drift physics whereas GTA a drift is a largely uncontrolled slide. there is no finesse or mid drift correction possible and the cars snap for grip after sliding whereas in driver it's gradual
One GTA III or higher is better than all driver games put together
Running away from the cops feels more fun ik driver.
