    My father was a waist gunner on a B-17 in WWII. This narrative reminds me of his war stories. Any bomber crew that completed 25 missons was allowed to go back to the states for rest and relaxation. Unfortunately most bombers only lasted for 8 missons on average. Dad spent the last 20 months of the war as a POW. He was one of the lucky ones.

    There is a great truism of those that study war... amateurs discuss tactics, professionals study logistics.

    I've started looking at the number of the story, just for the hell of it. I think the lowest number so far until this one was 220 or something, in Pretty Little Deathworlders. Now 38 is the lowest. I don't actively seek out higher or lower numbers, I just note it with some interest, because this guy has to be the hardest working MFer on the internet. The 24/7s and stuff, plus uploads, I mean I'm relatively new to the channel, but damn, there must be at least a thousand, maybe 2 thousand videos.
    YT has even lost track of my watched content, and offered me the same vids a couple times. Sometimes I even watch them over, either because it was a great story, or because I can't remember until I get to a particular plot point or something, and I don't want to mess up the algorithm by ending the vid before it's over... I've heard watching to the very end helps, and that stopping begore halfway is especially bad

    WWII: German tanks were works of art and hard to repair,
    Russian tanks are barely held together piles of leaking garbage that last just long enough to do the job before they are destroyed.
    American tanks were somewhere in between, smaller, more numerous, easier to transport and better built so we didn't have to fix them as often.
    Germans had no grasp of logistics.
    Or weather for that matter.

    • @MashedPotatoes690
      @MashedPotatoes690 3 роки тому

      Well yes and no, I believe the germans also had limited materials and thus had to increase the quality, as they already list in terms of quantity.

    • @zredband
      @zredband 3 роки тому +4

      German tanks were generally speaking, over engineered and difficult to repair in the field. Things like over lapping wheels that had to be removed to fix the ones behind them.
      Their welds were damn near perfect, works of art even, rather than simply good enough to do the job.
      The Germans were perfectionists.
      But in war, perfection is the enemy of good enough.

      The sad thing about that is that the Germans in WW2 had good generals who had a grasp on proper logistics, but a certain drug addled psychopath wouldn't let the generals actually use their own strategies.
