How Pixar created one of the nicest and saddest movie scene with no words.
And in less than 5 minutes
ARaul Torres
that's being PRO... so deep :-)
Watch hello neightboor hide and seek .
The best animation don't speak much but even there is no sound you get the whole story...
1:03 "Carl closes his eyes and smiles. He's lucky to be with her" Thanks, Pixar. I didn't need my heart anyway
One of the most touching Pixar sequences that no one predicted.
One of the most perfect example of a “Show, don't tell." Scene.
Everything begins with a good script
What about _Mad Max: Fury Road?_
EdgerOG ummm two completely different movies my dude
Couldn't agree more. I am so amazed about how the script writer analyzed and think of this amazing words of sequences.
The beauty of PIXAR is how artfully they tap into your emotions, without you even realizing how they do it. You probably didn’t notice the theme of pink throughout the sequence, but it represents Ellie and her presence. That’s why why Carl is sitting on the stoop, there’s just a hint of pink still attached to the house, and as he walks inside, without her for the first time, the pink glow slowly fades away.
I've seen this movie countless times and never came close to noticing that. It adds so much to the scene! Thank you for sharing that info.
Wow! This detail makes the scene so much better! Thank you for sharing it with us
Thanks for making me cry... AGAIN
Too bad there not having a baby 🤰
This is the most heart touching scene in any movie I've watched till date.
This was absolutely beautiful, but don't let it distract you from the fact that UP did a better love story in *Four minutes* than the 50 Shades series did in *Four Books*
Sam Boody Ha ha! True sir!
StitchTehZombie I'd never read it, but it just sounds like it's obsessed with lust. Four minutes - Pure, unadulterated love story.
And Up did it with absolutely no words
@@TayoEXE I read a lot of romance novels, and a lot of the new "romance" books are more about lust rather than love.
I honestly sob whenever I watch this scene. Seeing the way it cam from the script is fascinating though.
With the script you start seeing details you never noticed before. Really cool!
Love how the detail of Carl initially being unable to run up the hill was added in the animation process to mirror what happens later. Great video!
The still image of Carl sitting by himself in the funeral home, holding a ballon is probably one of the saddest screencaps in the history of cinema.
Sooo sad. She was his life.
Its has such a deep feel, the truth of life.People should understand it that life does not work in ur way,it has twist and turns ,but a real person is one who overcome the difficulty and live a happy life. That's what this movie teach us.
4:03 I never noticed that she adjusted his tie. That single detail made me cry
I remember this sequence devastating me at the theater. It was so full of feelings that really touched several nerves and practically obliterated any crying-resistant mechanism available. I still remember it as one of the most saddening and beautiful things to ever been created.
Thanks to such talented writers, we cry every time we watch this scenes. Thanks for making another special movie.
Me and my gf see ourselves reflected in Fred and Ellie since we met them.
Thanks for tellign such ricfh and emotional stories Pixar.
Never stop creating. We will never stop dreaming. That's thanks to you :)
fred you mean carl right?
Yeah Carl Fredericksen. he always was like a Fred to me since that's my main name :P Sorry
no problem
I started crying as soon as I read ‘Carl has an idea’ at 3:23, knowing what was coming
why oh why did I google this on purpose... now I'm sobbing.
Yeah, I was in the mood for watching this again and again and cry four hours. Thanks Pixar
Wow i never knew how detailed everything is, is like a book adapted into film. I mean the book by itself would have been amazing to read.
you cannot do this to me again!
Thanks, Pixar...
The fact that NO ONE even acknowledges this makes me lose faith in humanity even more.
Underrated Comment! I love you guys
You’re the best Screenplayed!
At the end, you forgot the part that says, "At this point, the entire audience will be holding back tears, or crying openly."
"YOU were my adventure." *The feels*
This movie make me cry
These scenes are so emotional, I totally forgot the script was beneath it
I just love this movie especially this scene!!! First pixar movie that made me tear up!!!
This movie touches so close to home for me; as a child I watched cancer slowly take my grandmother from me. First it was her hair, and it ended with her voice. Her last few months on this earth she became mainly non-verbal because of the tumor(s) that were on her brain. Watching this scene or even thinking about it always brings me to tears, and though I don’t watch it because of that very reason, whenever I need to have a good cry I just watch this scene again. I hope you all are able to process your grief in a safe and healthy way.
One of the best disney movies!
Ian Nijhof its Pixar Disney is tangled or princess/and also planes.😾🐈
Pixar I don’t wanna be dat person but I am since pixar is my fav
Tombcaver you commented I clicked I got pop-up asking me what I rate your comment...🐈

Ritz Rocks loo to loo lol m k k k k k k k k k k k ok to uiijjjjiiiiiio
U it up to use to
Freda Bradley what the heck r/ihadastroke
This is the best montage scene i know in all of cinema. The music amplifies the emotions to an overwhelming level but even watching it without sound it never fails to tell an impactful story.
UP is a special movie because it is one of rare movies that packs a punch at the very beginning. I often say the first 15 minutes of the movie was absolutely outstanding and that opening sequence alone would win any awards. It was tender, poignant and yet uplifting (no pun intended). It feels like a 100-year lifetime just pass you by within 15 minutes. I also think most of young kids wouldn't appreciate (or understand) the scene but when you are older, rewatching the scene will simply hit you differently.
"rigid Puritans in black" is a phrase i never thought I'd read in a Pixar script
Somehow I cried more when reading it than when watching it.
Yeah! Me too
This montage makes me cry. Every. Single. Time.
Best and saddest 4 minutes I've ever watched.
When I first saw this movie I bawled my eyes out after Ellie passed away and didn't stop crying until I saw the floating house. But I still want to or do cry every time I watch this scene.
The sweetest movie iv seen ever
Pixar is more than a anamton crew
They are people who can open up the heart in a few minutes
God bless all of those people at Pixar
I would put names but there's too many
But I love all of them
This Is Why I Loved And Want To Worked in Pixar Because Their Movie Kinda Based In Our society .
@@m.syauqiabdurahman2798
Yeah they are smart and emotionally sound group of people
The only similarity I can compare with Pixar is Studio Ghibli
@@theconductoresplin8092 ghibli is also Amazing
can't believe how much of that was all written by the writers. I seriously thought a good chunk of it was just collaborated on during the animation process. Talk about knowing how to write your material.
Btw, it should be noted that the music plays a significant role in setting the atmosphere and mood of this clip. Without (you can turn off your volume) it drastically changes the tone.
First Pixar movie that made me cry. Great job making this.
This is one of the parts who makes me crays
Thank you pixar
G be there by
This scene alone is why Up will always be my favorite pixar film. No matter how many times I see it, it always gets to me.
“carl closes his eyes. he’s lucky to be with her” 🥺😔
I’ve seen it a billions of times & I couldn’t resist my tears that was seeping like a waterfall , I cried involuntarily after I failed to prevent my tears to drop over & over but greeting to everyone whose hearts got touched by this successful film
I never noticed how the ties were used to symbolize the passing of decades. Wow.
Well thanks Pixar, for making me cry again...
My favorite animated movie
It's 9:09 AM and I'm in tears. Shouldn't have clicked.
Sometimes I cry. 😭
I feel sad when she can’t have a baby 🍼 👶
A deeply moving story without dialogues in 5mins! Masterpiece of piXar. Such good writers :)
I have watched this movie at least a hundred times but this moment gets me every time
Can’t watch this again. Just came to say you’ve created one of the best scenes in all cinema history. Next to Chaplin’s walking away from the camera.
With nearly no dialogue and only five minutes, Pixar created the best and saddest love story I can think of.
Aaannnnnd I'm crying again...
本当に素敵な話だと思います。
感動しました。
I just arrived at work, I just did my makeup, and I had to stop this midway or I would have ruined it. One of the best animated movies.
Only Pixar 👍
can make me cry 😭
2022 and after a hundred times watching, and still crying
Me when the video starts: I'm prepared to cry
Me at 0:19: Ayo *WHAT* they're 19??
Before watching up: Man! This movies gonna be so fun and happy!!!
10 minutes in...
*Wait why am I crying?*
This is so beautiful! I cried so much (again)! Congratulations, Pixar! I admire your art!
Such a beautiful scene in a beautiful movie, thanks Disney and Pixar!
I cry every single time I watch this scene! 😭
This always makes me cry
This made me cry
The melody playing really sets the tone between adventure happiness and then completes it with so much melancholy. Amazing art
This is one of the most outstandingly beautiful and touching moments in movies I've ever seen. Only this and grave of the fireflies have made me cry so intensely
i cry everytime i watch this scene
Floods of tears. Every time. God, I love this film
Thanks Pixar for making our childhood beautiful✨
The “kids” movie that is more moving than most adult ones
Thank you to everyone involved in the making of this scene and this film.
Such a moving scene without any dialogue just with expressions and cinematography it achieves something so special
This film is beautiful! We Brazilians loved 💚💛
Perfect screenwriting. There's a lot to learn from it.
The best 5 minute in history of movie
The only video that I would love to admit that this in my eyes are indeed tears.
God this is so beautifully written. Bravo, bravo
4 minutes and 34 seconds of RIPPING MY HEART OUT!!!!
I remember I had downloaded this in my mobile, so that I'd have something to watch in my free time. 2:00 am I started watching; first few minutes past I knew I had made a big mistake. I should have watched it in movie theatre. Carl and Ellie, their passion for adventure, love, loss, death, kid, it was too much to take. In the end all I wished for to find someone like Ellie.
This is ART
Nothing will ever top this in any medium ever... It´s as close to perfection as it get´s.
let's not forget that the music literally played about 60% of the role of everything you felt in this piece.. dont believe me? Reply that scene and play britney spears or a random metal song, you will experience a VERY VERY different story - Yes, it will still hit all the beats and you will get the point, but it is absolotely no where near the same feelings you will get when experiencing this with that Waltz Up score
still makes me cry love this
Thanks for the descriptive scenes, Pixar. Really brought out the excessive amount of water in my eyes.
my most favourite sceneeeee of all the timeeee ugh. i love youu pixar!
Best movie in the world
Came here after hearing the sad news
R.I.P Ed Asner, voice of Carl😭
Ok but why MUST I cry every time this scene plays, I can't read with teary eyes
*sobbing* it's beautiful..
I cry every time I watch this 😭
Genius. The best of filmmaking right here.
Up, wall-e and toy story 3. My favourite pixar films that pull your heart strings.
You reminded me again 😢
The feels!!! ;-;
thanks pixar for making me cry
Oh my... This is so sad, and so beautiful! #TrueLove
Really enjoyed this short film and the script together. As a novice its great seeing how the two come together. Thanks.
The best love story in 5 minutes
