Hi Ron. Suggestion box time. For more than just dump trailers ... what about those ground effect skirts that extend along the bottom of box trailers? So here's my thoughts Look at the cross bar of the "T" that extends to under the axle for a tow. You have slide-on adapters to fit the axle. Now all you need is a cross bar the same size as the one on the lift, with width longer than the trailer is wide. Slide the bar under the trailer and slide on a pair of your axle adapters that might fit the trailer frame and clear the sheeting of the side of the box. A couple of eye-bolts at each end of the cross bar to attach the crane's hooks. No more slippery wood blocks .
Bit surprised that armorlite didn't think to include points necessary for situations like this. Maybe they see this video and realize it and look for improvements. Great video!
Well, at least I knew wood blocks would come into play at some point! LOL. Love seeing the customer jumping in to help without being asked. Just shows a difference in how people were raised.
Great job Ron....it always helps to have all the right equipment for a job...and that includes a great operator! You make things look so easy and smooth...many companies could learn from you. Prayers for your continued safety...God Bless and thank you for sharing what you do!
Nice job Ron! I pulled mainly flatbed trailers back in the day in the UK. Heavy loads were chained, but due to the weather they all had to be sheeted and ropes to hold the sheets (straps were only just becoming a thing back then). I quickly learned how to tie a "dolly" knot on a rope, but more importantly I learned how to coil rope over and under alternately. This meant when roping the load, I grabbed the loose end of the rope and threw the entire coil over the load, and it unraveled flawlessly every time! I'm not going to bore you with the mechanics of this here, there are plenty of videos that demonstrate it, but it will save you from that rats nest next time you run out that air line! In case I don't get a chance before then, wishing you and yours a wonderful Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year!
I have been watching Ron for almost a year now and I have noticed he has excellent hand and eye coordination along with a very smooth foot control and that is a must for alone just a CDL driver let alone one that uses a boom that pulls things
Prayers and Blessings from Ohio .... Another instructive video ... And as always, thorough, safe and in a courteous manner, helping the guys with their air supply as well. Always great seeing how well you work with everyone on-scene. I can tell, this must've been a cold one! Clear skies, snow on the ground ... Bless your heart ... I always have to thank you when I see you use the 'cribbing'!! I never would've thought of the serpentine belt strap idea! Thank you again for everything. Continued thoughts, prayers and Blessings. Stay well and safe in all you do.
Very interesting. I often wonder if it is difficult to concentrate when someone is asking you questions about do you have this or that? Then you stop you set up to get such and such for their question (talking about the air hose here) then go back to what you were doing. Do you lose your spot so to speak of where you were in your set up? I did. LOL Ultimately this was a fun watch and it went really well. Of course, I am not expert! Thanks for what you do for these folks.
Watching you untangle that air hose reminded me when ever you have to get an an airplane alway take an extension cord or air hose in case you have to jump because they’re gonna get tangled and hang up on something lol
Ron another good video, Ron I was at a shop today to have my car worked on here in KY and a tow truck brought a car in was talking to him and we got to talking and the driver of the tow truck said the company he works for told me that the drivers at his company watches your videos said that they find your videos interesting and educational he also told me that he has almost been hit a couple of times cause people will not move over and slow down and this time of the year people are really getting crazy in their driving Hope you your family and the Midwest crew have a good weekend and stay safe
Just in case you don’t put another video on before the Holiday ,Though I expect you will still be on call I Wish you your family and staff a Very Merry Christmas and A Happy and Healthy New Year . And look forward to al your videos next year .Thank you for all of the videos over the past year .
This year it is on Wednesday, expect one the Friday before and another the Friday after, unless he states otherwise. Perhaps may get a happy Holiday video on Monday or Tuesday (his discretion)
Easy job for the Tator the hard partvwas trying to figure out exactly HOW to do it without damaging the trailer. You did good sir you got it done w/ no damage at all. As always Thany you & God Bless you all @ midwest truck.
Should design an attachment or something for the underlift. Park 90 degrees to the trailer, extend the attachment and lift on the frame. Should have enough weight on the front of the rotator to counter the underlift.
If I had a towing company, I'd be using your videos as training material for all employees. Probably would even create test questions based upon your commentary.
Who would load a dirt trailer without having a tractor hooked up to it. Duh !!!, even the designee with the gear down and set so far inward !!. Thanks Ron fer taking us along..
Loaded it married to the tractor then the tractor went buns up. After they couldn't unload it with the original tractor it was time to call Midwest to the rescue.
I Was Going To Say I've Seen You Change That Type Of Truck & Trailer Before But Then I Saw it Was A 53" Trailer That's a Different Story. Great Job. 🔧⛓️🔗⚙️
It amazes me no matter how much hardware you have Ron it's never enough, although you have most of it covered. Every job can be so different. Another great job!! Have a great Holiday!!
HELLO RON , JUST WANTED TO TELL YOU IF WE HAD MORE GUYS LIKE YOU @ YOUR TEAM DOING TOW @ RECOVERY IT WOULD BE AWESOME. I AM FROM DERRY PA. YOU @ YOUR TEAM ARE THE BEST. THERE IS A LOT OF OTHERS BUT THERE NOT AS GOOD AS YOU @ your team. have a great year @ god bless you @ your team.
It was interesting thinking about the differences between this job and the one shown in the video from last week due to both the difference in the job itself and the different type of trailers... I personally think that people who engineer vehicles should spend some time with tow and recovery teams before designing a new vehicle or trailer.
If only. Without a corporate culture that supports that mindset and tells the bean counters to pound salt when they start whining, designers in the field will never happen. It would run up the manufacturing costs and no one will sign off on that these days.
Yeh I hear ya. I got a 2020 kw eats lite fuses like candy. Why do we need two fuse boxes in one truck. Why when the lites blow because of unknown crappy rewired trailers do I need to replace Multiple fuses in both boxes. Some days I miss just Poppin the glove box and hitting a circuit breaker.
it's the limitations of customer requirements that tie the engineers hands more often then not. Sure you can a super lightweight cheap design that will work fine, but as soon as you hit a failure condition, well now you're in for a good time.
I used to work for a company that used a boom truck to lift big heat and air units to put on top of Walmart stores and the operator of the boom truck never took safety in mind like he should. One night he was lifting a huge unit in the dark and didn't look for the overhead power lines as he was lifting we saw a real bright flash of light and heard a loud explosion. He got the boom tangled into the power lines. It fried the boom truck controls and melted the cable. The big unit fell to the ground going threw the roof of the Walmart store we was installing it on. Power lines won boom truck D O A. Thank God nobody was hurt.
You make this sorta thing look easy. I live close to a tow truck garage and compound and whenever I see them about I end up wondering what sorta job they were on that day
I don't know how much more you can store on that rotator as you are really running out of room. Another great video. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year early to you, your family, and all the staff.
Found it helpful that you mention when the video was shot in this case; not sure if others find it helpful also or not. Came across your channel earlier after watching some of Plaza Towing’s videos.
Well thought out strategy Ron. In the British Army we often use airbags to spread the lifting forces on "soft" vehicles, but I don't know if you carry those in the US on wreckers, although the Fire Departments often do. With aluminium being used extensively in car bodies these days (particularly by Audi) these "crushable" problems are becoming more common.
Awesome job there Ron I really enjoy your videos as I always do. May God bless you and your family and keep you and your crew safe and your family safe.
Another effortless job done. Always good to watch, Ron. Wishing you, your family and MidWest Truck Inc a blessed Christmas tide and peace and prosperity for 2020. God bless!!
Ron, can you do a short video of you putting things back in the right spots after a call please and thank you! Merry Christmas and God Bless You, your family and employees!
Wow, these trailers are crazy. Self holding frame? Jesus Chris........ In Europe we have two H profile iron along the trailer's length. It makes the base really massive. It can easily survive a hars flip of trailer.... Only 2 axies? No weight limit on axies? We have max 8 tons / axle. Over that required special direct route permission.
For a bit there I thought the only way to get that trailer off without damage would be to tow the broken truck and trailer to the delivery site and unload the trailer. With it empty, you could leave the trailer there and tow the truck to the repair shop. The customer could send out their own tractor to pick up the empty trailer. But you found a quicker solution.
Still watching but almost looks like you need a piece of steal I-beam or H-beam with some holes on the end for next time. That way you can just slide it underneath hook a strap on the ends with a clevis and then a spreader bar at the top. Probably come in handy any time that a front end lift needs to be done on a trailer that is in questionable condition.
Hi Ron. Suggestion box time. For more than just dump trailers ... what about those ground effect skirts that extend along the bottom of box trailers? So here's my thoughts

Another mission accomplished. Blessings. 🙏👠👠

It did looked cold. But you didn't
have to crawl around in mud or
water. No ticks, chiggers no mosquitoes😄😄. Good job.
Well, at least I knew wood blocks would come into play at some point! LOL. Love seeing the customer jumping in to help without being asked. Just shows a difference in how people were raised.
Some can jump in with understanding and intelligence, some are a hazard though willing.
Sure does
Best way to spend lunch break watching Ron at work
Its so amazing your truck has all that equipment on board to do all things. A lot of thought went into design.
Great job Ron....it always helps to have all the right equipment for a job...and that includes a great operator! You make things look so easy and smooth...many companies could learn from you. Prayers for your continued safety...God Bless and thank you for sharing what you do!

Another job well done. Those trailers are a PAIN. LOL
Mental note don't read comments before video "spoiler Alert"
"It's all good!" - Complements of Midwest Trucking - Well done Sir.
I love how Ron makes a difficult job seem easy and straight-forward (which it was as soon as Ron figured out the lifting points).
That orange truck didn't want to let go of the trailer. I thought I heard it say no we are team. Lol God bless

Another Safe and Damage Free Lift for your Customer. 👍 It’s Hard (NO, Impossible) to Beat this kind of Quality Job. 👏
RON, HELLO, JUST CATCHING THIS AT O9;15 BEFORE we go to bed, GOOD LUCK,,GOD BLESS YOU ALL, MERRY CHRISTMAS. CHEERS FROM NJ 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Great videos as always Ron. One would think a trailer would have built in lift points , like a railroad car as federally mandated.
Thanks Ron Pratt another interesting video to watch have a good day and God bless you as well
Good Day Ron ,it realy makes one feel great when a lift goes without a problem . Take Care, Be Safe .
Thanks for the wave at the end. It's like you knew someone was watching!
If I had a towing company, I'd be using your videos as training material for all employees. Probably would even create test questions based upon your commentary.

I remember you doing another frameless dump trailer doing the same thing in a bank parking lot or some kind of business.
Sand of Time a 2 part video
Your the best Ron. I love watching your videos.
I always enjoy hearing what you say at the end it makes it all worth watching your videos this was another awesome one

Much respect to you guys very dangerous job yet you guys never fail to get it done
Looks a little chilly out there. At least, you're not ready to drop from heat exhaustion.
Quite tricky with those frameless trailers.Good work Ron.Safety first
That was amazing. You clearly are amazing in your abilities. Another one in the books and you are a great teammate and instructor.
It was interesting thinking about the differences between this job and the one shown in the video from last week due to both the difference in the job itself and the different type of trailers...
I personally think that people who engineer vehicles should spend some time with tow and recovery teams before designing a new vehicle or trailer.
And a few months in a repair shop. (or at least grow up on a family farm)

Morning. And good/ great now that we have a ron pratt video
tractorboy31 hi
You make this sorta thing look easy. I live close to a tow truck garage and compound and whenever I see them about I end up wondering what sorta job they were on that day
Yax traxs i loved them when i use to long haul watching everyone else slip on Ice and i'm just trucking along with snow chains on my shoes LOL.
I don't know how much more you can store on that rotator as you are really running out of room. Another great video. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year early to you, your family, and all the staff.
Another Ron Pratt job well done.👏🏻👏🏻👍
Found it helpful that you mention when the video was shot in this case; not sure if others find it helpful also or not. Came across your channel earlier after watching some of Plaza Towing’s videos.
Once you figured out your lift points the rest was easy.
Good job! Stay safe and God bless. 0:-)

Under-reach: Alternative to the Short Person's Helper
Absolutely!!! I use it for that purpose frequently. Thanks for watching and God bless.
As always.......another Great video. Thanks Ron.
professionally and safely done. Top marks again, Ron.
Love that rotator but it looks really complicated you pretty much have to have a PHD to operate it. 😁
That was another great lift Ron
Aluminium is a fantastic material, when its used for sports cars ! Well done Ron. Have a great week end
What about mall crawler pickup trucks?
I forget you have those heavy endless loops. Those are something I worked without, they weren't around when I was still doing this.
Another effortless job done. Always good to watch, Ron. Wishing you, your family and MidWest Truck Inc a blessed Christmas tide and peace and prosperity for 2020. God bless!!
Loved that ending with you waving. LoL
Have a wonderful and safe weekend.
Another showing of teamwork
Thank you Mr Pratt always entertaining.
Really good job👍
Another great job done Ron
Nothing is more nerve wracking than arc danger.
It's amazing you never realize how many overhead wires there are in the World until you drive a wrecker or a Ladder Truck and I have done both.
Come to Germany. You won't miss them.
Another great job Ron!
That truck is one versatile beast for sure! Thanks for sharing Ron. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Ron, can you do a short video of you putting things back in the right spots after a call please and thank you! Merry Christmas and God Bless You, your family and employees!

pretty much every axle here in the states is an 8ton, you're forgetting the 3 axles on the tractor.
Most states is 80,000lbs max truck, trailer, and load
Good video - Stay safe and try to stay warm - Blessings from West Virginia
Your videos help me get through hard times so much thank you so very much! @Ron Pratt
Hello from Niles Illinois 👍🏻

With it empty, you could leave the trailer there and tow the truck to the repair shop. The customer could send out their own tractor to pick up the empty trailer. But you found a quicker solution.
In a reply to a previous comment Ron said they tried that, but found out the PTO on the truck was fried and they couldn't operate the dump.
Another enjoyable video to watch, I love em'.
thanks for the video Ron, I enjoy them
Can you do a tour of the building and your back lot?
Like so Ron can see
He isn't able to as it has customer vehicles in it at all times
Ron I want to wish you and your family a merry Christmas and a
Happy New year to you and your family God bless you and your family 🔩🌲
Amen everyone was safe
You're getting that trucks stoage packed pretty good there Ron LOL

"Quick Sand" Transport?? I'd do business with them in a New York minute!!, it would have to be a fun company to work with!
another job done well
Even with my couple of months armchair training and knowledge I was struggling to work out how best to lift that trailer . 😀
