- I wasn't out flying my drone for half a year and thought it would be time now to record some new aerial footage and get used to piloting again. 😉 Thus on a nice warm day at the end of April I decided to fly in a beautiful area with the canola fields already in full bloom. A day before I discovered this wonderful place on a tour with my new motorcycle (KTM Duke 890 R) and recorded some footage with the DJI Action 2. Unfortunately I somehow unintentionally altered the settings on the camera, which resulted in some weird compression artifacts and not the best video quality. However, I decided to use the material anyway, because it was fun to start the video with some riding footage, showing the story how I discoverd this wonderful rural area near the beautiful Middle Rhine valley. Of course a medieval castle was nearby, too, which I couldn't resist to include in this video (I used some old footage from another video, recorded last summer 😉). I hope you will enjoy this little trip and relaxing hike in early spring.
How I recorded the DJI Mini 2 footage:
I used an ND16 filter to achieve a more natural and cinematic look. White balance was set to 6100K and the shutterspeed to 1/60 while recording in 4K 30fps. In post processing I only did a few adjustments on the highlights, shadows and colour temperature. Processing was done on a Lenovo Legion 5i Pro Gen 7 (Intel® Core™ i7-12700H, NVIDIA GeForce® RTX™ 3070 Ti) using the DaVinci Resolve 17.3 Studio version.
For whom is interested, I used the ND16 Filter from the Skyreat Mini 2 Mavic Mini ND Filter Set (CPL, UV, ND8, ND16, ND32, ND64).

I had "The Great Escape" vibes at the beginning when you were on your motorcycle there. Just looking for the barbed wire fence now. Beautiful colors in the fields and I love the castle in the background. The increased speed on the boats in the water looked really nice, in fact if it wasn't for the cars in the background you wouldn't even notice the speed increase. Ah, I see that you flew to the castle in the end!!
Great comment, Richard.😉 Yes, I had to speed up the the flight to the river a lot, because it would have taken too long and boring to show it in normal speed. And I agree that it looks fine with the ships, but not so good with the cars. The castle shot was stolen from a previous video, because we are not allowed to cross water ways with the drone here in Germany. If you look carefully you will notice that the castle was shot during summer and everything looks a bit more green. But I am glad that the inclusion of the castle footage did the trick making you think that I actually flew over. 😅 Thanks for your loyal support, my dear friend, keeping me motivated to make more drone videos. This was quite intense! The video transitions from the bike ride through a field of cherry blossoms and canola passing through the gorgeous panorama of the river and the castle!!
