I simultaneously envy and don't envy cinematographers. There's endless creative possibilities to the framing, positioning, and flow of a scene, it looks so fun and overwhelming at the same time.
It's so neat to actually get a window into the psychology of shots. I've found myself switching between these, instinctively, based off references from movies I've enjoyed, so, this was a really cool explanation of why some shots should be used over others.
Look at Aputure (lighting/DP pov), Indy Mogul (lighting/camop/DP pov) and This Guy Edits (editing/story). You can have a combination of all aspects of film making from online learning. Something REQUIRED to tackle if you want to be a successful director (not my aim). I am trying to find more "camop" channel of this calibre that teaches the way to use the camera better. Studiobinder is kind of halfway there but they are more so about the story, directing aspect and conveying emotions.
Let’s all be thankful that Studio Binder is putting out so much great stuff out here for FREE. Like, I feel like most people would charge money for this kinda stuff. 🙏
I haven't found a film channel this good. All the others never talk about things practically like this one .So glad ,this was recommended to me! Definitely a subscribing.
Wow! What a comprehensible guide; nothing short of what it says in the title as it is indeed ultimate. Understanding the properties of shots is an essential part of understanding the language of filmmaking, so I thank you for this video.
I particularly love how the Extreme Wide Shot (EWS) / Establishing Shots are used in Apocalyptic genre movies. It really helps establish the landscape that the the subsequent scenes explore.
I don’t know about you all? But, the man narrating these videos is super legit. I find myself walking away learning so much out of all these videos. This channel is addictive!
Woah! I am developing a lot of interest into cinematography, and you have just made it so much easy to initiate the lessons to learn and start experimenting. Thank you so much
Great video, helped me greatly with a storyboard asignment. Quick comment, I notice the CC are out of synch. Other than that, this is such a gift from you guys, I love this channel!
I am a beginner when it comes to camera... But i have been in a team consist of videographers but havent had a proper education... They just winged it, got an audience and as well as customers... If i can thankyou everyday i will... Thank you again...
Though this video was 4 years ago, it is useful to me now. As a digital marketer, I usually get so much problems whenever it involves some reels. Now this helps me a lot.
I'm currently writing a script for my debut film...and StudioBinder is my ultimate teacher/cheat book on writing scripts. Thank you so much, StudioBinder!!!
I love how not only is each shot style explained, practical advice is also given on when and why to use a particular shot. Came here for the informative side but got much more in the form of practicality and usefulness. Well put together video; I’ll be subbing
I'm here because my Audio and Technology Film teacher showed me this in class. Great video. Made me really appreciate cinematography in films. Should be shown in more schools.

What an incredible tool I have just found to make my music videos stand out, thank you so much! This is exactly what I’ve been looking for a while now, big fan of the series!
Thanks for your fantastic work, it really helps me alot to grab general concept of how the whole system works separately and combinatorially. While I was reaing the E-book Camera Lenses Explained, there is a little grammatical typo at the firs line of first paragraph in page 6. Hope it can be helpful! Appreciate it again!!!
I will use all of these to improve my tv show. Thank you 🙂 and keep going, this is way more organised than every other video, I sense a series of these videos
This channel is an Encyclopedia of applied knowledge on film making to simply appreciating the medium of Cinema. I believe, cinema being the latest form of Art, the language of cinema gives an artist the best circumstances expressing his creativity. It has the most potential for experimentation still left to explore. And to do that, this channel acts like a treasure trove for learning the basics of film making and looking at things from different perspective. I was reading Hitchcock/Truffaut, and from there I read about his use of long takes in the movie Rope. To further extend my knowledge I landed on this channel. Since then, I've been watching one after another video while taking notes. I do dream of making a film one day and I make films in my dreams.... Thank you so much for enriching that dream.
