My sisters husband worked for years at Disney World in Florida. He had many different assignments, guest bus driver, attraction cast member, etc. He told me of his seeing Carrie Fisher while there on a Star Wars Fan Day some time in the late 90's- early 2000's. She was at that time still quite fit and as my brother said, "REAL CUTE." Carrie was there to meet fans, sign autographs, the usual. However she was also there with her daughter. Billie was just a little girl at the time and Carrie didn't want her daughter to miss out on the attractions, so she politely asked to be informed when the time for the event was concluded. Carrie's time to meet fans was set at a specific time and was due to end likewise. Carrie, knowing that during the event, she was likely to get caught up in the fun, wanted an "out." Unknown to her, the handler had been told by her superiors to NOT tell her this. An enormous crowd had gathered to meet her, and the supervisors were (understandably) concerned at disappointing a large group of fans, who would be standing in line for hours. The event was planned for 2 to 3 hours. It went over. At a certain point, it became obvious to Carrie that a LOT of time had past. She was thoroughly enjoying meeting fans but wanted time there with her daughter. She'd ask the Disney employee "Isn't it TIME yet?" and the worker would at first say, "Um, no there's plenty of time left". Apparently Carrie hadn't worn a watch. Over time, she caught on to the deception, but seeing the still long line of eager fans, kept on, happily signing autographs, even introducing her daughter, who was by now getting fidgety. It wasn't till several hours had past that the Disney employee assigned to her needed a restroom break. A worker who had been assisting at the event (and related this story to my brother in law, who were friends) took over while the supervisor relieved herself with the specific instructions, "Don't let her leave." Carrie, seeing her opportunity with the "slave-drivers" absence, looked at her daughter who was nearby, looked at the still immense line of fans waiting, then looked the replacement handler dead in the eyes with her big brown beautiful eyes and said, "PLEASE...." His heart melted. He immediately announced to the crowd that the event was concluded, thanked everyone for coming, to which there was a "groan" from the crowd of remaining fans. Carrie and Billie were escorted by Disney security to explore the park and the event concluded. At which point the supervisor, who had taken a break, returned to find everyone gone except her assistant. She was EXTREMELY UNHAPPY. "Where did she go? Did you let her go after I specifically told you to NOT let her leave?" My brothers friend looked his supervisor in HER eyes and replied, "What could I do? She's PRINCESS LEIA." The supervisor just sighed, frowned in resignation, and replied, "Yeah. I know."
If they EVER need a voice over for future CGI versions of young Leia... Billie Lourd must be the one to do it. Man, she sounds exactly like young Carrie. Heck she doesn't look exactly like Carrie, but if anybody would play a young Leia, also in front of the camera, it'd be Billie.
It amazes me how she could play the role of such a strong confident leader when she was really not feeling strong or confident at all at that time in her life. Amazing
I can tell you from being in that room this whole thing there was not a dry eye in the room espically when John Williams started playing Princess Leia's theme. Thanks for the video so I can experience this amazing moment again.
Carrie was the epitomy of the Female lead, her beauty and strength were unrivaled in a time when the genre of hero belonged mostly to us guys. We guys loved her as did everyone else who appreciated just what she was made of. Carrie will always be the most beautiful Hero inside and out. Poor Billie holding back the emotions so well and with such grace. Losing a Mother and Grandmother 1 day apart is a devastation I hope no one has to go through. Carrie lives on in some ways through Billie, at least her legacy will continue to live on through more generations. Billie is a stunning beauty with talent of her own and I think she would be a great addition to future movies or even a Young Leia television series type of thing. People compare her to her Mother which I will admit is a kind Honor but she can hold her own in front of and behind the cameras, I eagerly await her next project.
I love how classy John Williams was when the people started cheering right after the Carrie Fisher clip (He put his finger to his mouth to say please be quite) He was instantly saying this moment is about our fallen princess and not me🌹❤️ What a class act. RIP Princess Carrie Fisher you will always be are princesses .
RIP Carrie and Debbie. Thank you Billie for sharing them both with us and may God bless you in your time of loss. Star Wars was a great movie series and that was in part to Carrie and now you Billie.
Every time I watch this video I cry, because the theme John Williams wrote for the princess, one that heard it for the first time in the Documentary is beyond beautiful, but the first time I heard it again after she pass away. I was sobbing and now, well I still do...so beautiful.
There really is nothing more moving than showing someone true honor and dignity. And it's all the more poignant with Carrie because it's true -- she shared so much with us.
Wow! What an amazing and moving tribute to a princess and true Hollywood royalty! Ms. Fisher, you will be missed! But never forgotten! And to the mother of the princess, Ms. Debbie Reynolds. Thank you! Now they are both singing and dancing in the heavens! What talent! What a loss! We will continue to keep their legacy and legend alive! May the Force be with them both!
It doesn't matter how many times I've watched this or from how many different angles. This tribute will always move me to tears. I've cried more over the loss of this woman than I have over that of my own relatives that have also passed away between Christmas and now (May 1, 2017.) As someone who is a fellow survivor of mental illness, like Carrie I too learned how to use snarky humor to cope. I became a writer because I couldn't bear to merely journalize things -- I had to make them entertaining and "disguise" my real-life experiences behind those of fictional characters. So many life parallels -- both good and bad. Of course there can only be one Carrie Fisher... but I will be forever grateful that she can be our 'imperfectly perfect' example of how to live -- vivaciously, unapologetically, and full of love. Thank you for recording and sharing this beautiful tribute. It's the best there is. I'll be forever moved that Billie was able to stand in front of an audience and give that tribute.
A classy tribute that I am grateful to be able to see. When John Williams put his finger to his lips to try and quiet the overly amped crowd, I knew exactly how he felt.
Oh Lourd....I am so very, very sad for you. It's awful to lose your fabulous mother. I lost mine, & she also fought so hard, never became a "star", but was a star to me. I'll bet there wasn't a dry eye in the house when that tribute finished and John Williams started his orchestra. Forever The Princess. May The Force Be With Her Always
Princess Leia in the Cloud City outfit was my first action figure. She was the first real female hero us 80's girls had. I love that she, Carrie, as a person, was also so open to fans about herself as well. Hilariously funny and engaging.
I feel like when I got to hear Princess Leia give her full speech in A New Hope after just hearing a snippet. I'm referring to the glitchy video that was uploaded and was missing so much of Billie's tribute (not judging, I heard it was Verizon's fault). It's wonderful to hear Billie's loving testimonial to her mom. I cannot imagine how hard all this has been on her. 💐💐💐
I know the lines from a new hope by heart, and I will never forget them. I miss Carrie terribly. When She died I was a little girl but I remember how sad I was when I heard the princess I looked up to died. I love you, Carrie. Rest in peace bean
Carrie appeared at the Tampa Bay Comic Con in 2015, if memory serves me correctly, and I was fortunate enough to be there. She had her beloved and ever-present dog with her, of course; she was funny and bright, and I am deeply grateful that I was able to see her. RIP, dear Carrie, as well as your wonderfully talented mother, Debbie Reynolds. You will always be our princess.
My heart hurts. But it is kind of in a good way. In Star Wars, my generation has lost their heroes. Characters we looked up to. Like our parents, coming to understand a time will come......but still not being ready or wanting of it. Seeing Leia pass in saving her son was epicly impactful. It was soul wrenching at the same time. No one, not the guys or the gals in the audience was without tears. It was beautiful. My little granddaughter loves this trilogy. Rey and Finn....watching Poe in the ship she says. Rey's friend seems like a nice person she says of Ben/Kylo. She is 5 now. The breath of the saga is unknown to her. The same way the original trilogy was not fully understood by her dad (my son) when he became the Anakin lover after Phantom Menace when he was 6 or so. The way I loved all the characters of Star Wars, when I was their age. I am 13 months younger than A New Hope. While everyone online picks apart every aspect, blames Lucas for destroying with the prequels, and now Disney with the sequels......I am seeing these films as something I can enjoy with now 2 generations of my family. I can experience their joy in the films, as I remember the varying joys I felt with them myself. But for me, and folks of my age range....there will never be characters so loved as Luke, Leia, Han, and even Lord Vader. I am eagerly awaiting the next stories, as are my family members. And I hope that my granddaughter will be able to have films she can share with her kids, and their kids. THAT ladies and gentlemen is what Star Wars should always be. Sharing the enjoyment of the films with everyone else.
I had to speak at a fundraiser after my father had died and Billie reminds me of so much of what I felt. I felt kinda numb at that point. I couldn’t believe life was real and in a weird sense I kinda said what people wanted to hear. She was clearly and clearly still is broken over the loss of her mom and grandmother. The months after losing a parent are unexplainable unless you have been through it. Billie is also a fucking incredible actress. Watch her stuff! She has it in her blood. What a strong woman. My god.
Just found this. The tribute was beautifully done. I think they should’ve shown some more of her as Leia on the screen. I’m so sorry I missed this. R.I.P. dear lady. You are sorely missed. 🥲
I realized belatedly that I didn’t know how to mourn anybody until Carrie Fisher died. I was numb. I was devastated. She was my heroine before I knew the meaning of the word. Leo’s was smart tough and said what she meant but she never raised her voice unless she had to. All of which I as a girl of six at the time Star Wars came out needed desperately as I was VERY QUIET as a result of bullying. Leis, I noticed never got pushed around. Instead she was the one in charge of the guys on the ship. Carrie, , I know you didn’t want to play Leis at least originally, but boy am I glad you did! Thank you so much. Leiia’s theme from Star Wars a new hope is exactly the perfect backdrop for such a solemn occasion as was the period after the loss of our princess. I’m still not too comfortable with funerals, but if this is what a remembrance should feel like, I may not be so afraid anymore. Thanks Carrie.
The love we have for Carrie/Leia has been passed onto Billie, Carrie would indeed be proud and happy for that sweet, sweet moment. "Help me Obi Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope."
Carrie was a phenomenal woman! She lived her life honestly and in the moment. I cried during this whole video. Carrie was a mother to Billie and also all of us that looked up to her. When I was growing up in the 80’s I remember she was the first woman I looked up to. Her strength, her weakness and her wit are something I will always admire. Carrie, I mourn you still not because you were an actress but because you taught me that being a princess didn’t mean you couldn’t be a badass.
Carrie Fisher was my first real schoolboy crush. I saw the very first Star Wars upon it's original UK release in 1977. I was the perfect age, I suppose. I was 11. I'll love and miss her forever. 😢 ❤ ❤ 🙏🙏
I got to meet CARRIE FISHER on the set of From Here To Maternity a spoof of From Here To Eternity. I heard the news of her heart attack while greeting at Cinepolis for Star Wars and was grieved to hear of her loss soon after. I was blessed to get to work a day on the set with her and then the loss of her dear mom DEBBY REYNOLDS who I never met but auditioned at Debbie Reynolds Studio for Solid Gold and in the halls got to meet SIDNEY PORTIER from Guess Who's Coming to Dinner.
I miss Carrier Fisher sooo much! Can't believe she will never write another book or act in another movie! 😢 My ❤ goes to Billie, strong and proud daughter of ROYALTY!

timrob12 so sad her Mom, Debbie Reynolds the next day!
Hands down the best find on utube for me in months, Billy seems soooo cool.thanks for the upload :)
Only TRUE STAR WARS FANS cried during this 😢
Thank you for this. Awesome quality compared to the others posted.
The bond between this Mother and Daughter knows no ends, it will travel through time.
I'll bet there wasn't a dry eye in the house when that tribute finished and John Williams started his orchestra. Forever The Princess. May The Force Be With Her Always
This video year's from now will be enjoyed just like it was that night.

I truly loved everything about your mother, her talent, her struggles and her victories, May HER force be with us all! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Man i couldnt imagine having to straight face this. What a champ.
She is beautiful
Awe, her poor daughter, loosing bother her mother and nanna (grandmother). She's brave being up on that stage
*losing
Thank you George, I loved all 6 of your movies and hope you can write Episode 9!
That is never going to happen cause everybody knows Colin Trevorrow is directing and writing a screenplay for Episode IX
welp not any more, JJ's back baby
Man I can't stop crying... This is now my favorite video on youtube.
so many years later and i still get close to tears.
Beautiful daughter. So sorry for her lost
Her lost? Her lost what?
I had to speak at a fundraiser after my father had died and Billie reminds me of so much of what I felt. I felt kinda numb at that point. I couldn’t believe life was real and in a weird sense I kinda said what people wanted to hear. She was clearly and clearly still is broken over the loss of her mom and grandmother. The months after losing a parent are unexplainable unless you have been through it. Billie is also a fucking incredible actress. Watch her stuff! She has it in her blood. What a strong woman. My god.
We lost two legendary actress / entertainers that year who will continue to entertain us all, eternally. RIP, Debbie and Carrie.
No one else could quiet just a vast room with such speed and ease.
Just found this.
The tribute was beautifully done. I think they should’ve shown some more of her as Leia on the screen. I’m so sorry I missed this. R.I.P. dear lady. You are sorely missed. 🥲
That was so beautiful. Thank you Billie and John for that beautiful performance!
Thank you for sharing this. Very special - it must have been incredible to have been there...
Well that made me cry, mr Williams music at the end was awesome . Rest in peace princess
The part where she recites Leia's message to Obi Wan (6:43) got me all choked up.🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴
I'M CRIYING LIKE A BABY!!..
Wow gone 4 yrs but not forgotten. May the force be with you always.
I just heard someone say :Love you John!
The love we have for Carrie/Leia has been passed onto Billie, Carrie would indeed be proud and happy for that sweet, sweet moment. "Help me Obi Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope."
such a iconic actress !
Rest in Peace Carrie Fisher !
When i was 4 years old after watching A new hope i told my parents that i was going to marry princess Leia 😂❤️
I cried before this video started. There will never be another Carrie
Wonderful :') Thank you for sharing this. it's so emotional
14:18 had me literally weeping
That theme is so Leia/Carrie beautiful, soft and vulnerable. The French horn is both romantic and heroic at the same time, like our Princess.
I only Know Billie Lourd from AHS, I had no idea she was Carrie Fisher's daughter!
John Williams thank you sir
Tears streaming down my face during “Leia’s Theme”.
I think her daughter would make a good princess ! R.I.P. Carrie the force will be with you always !
3 years later and I’m still crying
