I think what I appreciate most about your videos is the deep dives you do. You don't just stick with the base layer of 'what would happen' but also you give really solid questions and thoughts on how it could be used. I can't tell you how many ideas have sparked for my own writing from listening to your videos because you ask questions I hadn't considered.
thank you again. also, the colored moons are very common in fantasy and they're technically posible. there are mineral compounds that are naturaly colorful. some of them are red, green and blue. like sodalite or natural rust iron.
This reminds me of Destiny 2. The Hive, before they were monsters lived on Fundament a gas giant with 52 moons. - Three of them looked for a way to stop the God Wave a syzygy that would occur when all 52 moons aligned.
I like it when multiple moons are picked up by the author as an element of the local mythology. Then you have the opportunity to have regional variations in folk tales. An example I enjoy is by Kate Forsyth in her _The Witches of Eileanan (Dragonclaw)_ series though this is more cosmology than hydrology. Speaking of tidal water power, there is a horizontal waterfall in Western Australia.
In a fantasy world you could also have magical countermeasures for extreme multi-moon tides, and it could cause an interesting dynamic between the richer cities that can afford the magical countermeasures and the poorer coastal societies that have to deal with it by mundane means. It could even become a perk of vassalage, especially if their lord is a mage.
Thank you ! Your videos is amazing. I'm building a world with a small moon which turn around a big moon. I was wondering what could be the physical Impact on the water and thanks to you I have a lot of cool ideas!
Could drastic spring tides due to multiple moons explain the existence of air ships in our fantasy worlds? When it's too dangerous to travel between port cities. Similarly, what if the magic users were to physically rise and lower the entire port city (mold earth or stone shape on a massive scale) according to the tide? Could that cause earthquakes?
Those are some super interesting questions. I’m a definite yes on the airships. Earthquakes would depend on how deep your magic system is. I’d give it 60% possibility in most worlds.
Venice is child's play! Look at the Bay of Fundy or the Severn Bore. Check out a map of world tidal variation. Re tidal power, check out Salter Ducks. Leap seconds have nothing to do with the distance of the Moon; they're necessary because the Moon's orbital period is not an exact multiple of the Sun's. And don't forget Roche limits!
What's your favorite multi-moon world in fantasy or sci-fi?
Fillory from the magicians!

You genuinely have some of the greatest worldbuilding tips out there. Thank you for the content. :)
Thank you so much 😊

How did I miss this??? My world is 3 planets orbiting around one smaller moon but they would essentially act as moons to each other.
Dramatic tidal effects :D

I can see great cities having mega dams because they were built during low tide
Like huge lagoons yeah. Man-made lagoons

Interesting idea. Would make for some great political interplay.
Just in time, i finally made the second moon canon before going to sleep and this video appears on the morning.
Excellent! I hope it helps you.
This is so amazing! Thank you so much!
You’re very welcome 😊 Glad you enjoyed it!
thank you, that was very useful for my project!
You are very welcome!

You are very welcome. I loved making this video, the research was so fun.
Great video again!
Glad you enjoyed it!

You could have the spare Moon moons switching between dimensions
Hahaha imagine the reaction of people if it shows up!
Yeah I can imagine people panicking or being happy depending on their situation

The main difficulty with multiple moons, is to build the calendar based on them 🙃 a painful exercise
Truly!
Ooh. When did they change the like button?
I enjoy your content, but with my ADHD your talking speed in English is a bit slow for me, so please don't take offense that i watch at 1.25 speed
Completely understandable :)

This would work really well, kind of like a Mangrove swamp. I did a video on that too :D
@@JustInTimeWorlds Bueno, ya sé cuál será el próximo vídeo que veré.
One thing you can do with this is have a low and high time that last for decades
SI-zi-gee
the devil's tango
More like Just in Tide Worlds, amirite? 😉
Bwahahaha
