My dad gave me his Ruger No1 chambered in 7mm Remington mag right before cancer took his life… He told me to hunt with it and not keep it a safe queen… I have piled up many deer with it… I feel like he is still with me every time I hold it in my hands.
Having that special friend is special my favorite person to be in the woods with is my cousin Danny we grew up together we were introduced at 12 or so from 16 to 27 wide open he went to the Army and both of us got married and had kids i re contacted in 2018 i go t o see him and his folks every chance i get ❤️
Well said as far as the rifles are concerned. Not sure about the comments about me. There are many that would disagree with you on that. But this rifle’s story is too special for me to even put into words. When you have a friend that has walked the woods with you for years upon years, but who is now almost completely paralyzed , who wants you to take the rifle that you gave him back to the woods , it pulls at your heart strings. At least it pulls at mine. Thank you for your comment.
Dennis I must tell you I don't care what your cougar says about you, but in my mind your a special kind of friend . I had a friend like Gary once but he passed a few years back. I miss him always especially deer season. Treasure your time with him while you can. Be Blessed and hopefully a special deer season with Gary.
Guy Clark sings a song about "Old Friends" that came to mind when I heard you fondly speak of your friend Gary. A man is blessed to have a good friend like you. This was far more than a gun story, sir. Respect.
All Ruger No. 1 are very special to their owners. By using a one-shot rifle, the hunter implicitly agrees that he/she will shoot only when assured of a clean killing shot. One cannot hope for a second quick shot with a falling block. That implicit consent comprises an ethical contract that not all hunters are ready to make. The Ruger No 1 therefore becomes a companion in honesty; for some, like me, a darling in common restraint, an instrument of self-discipline. Dennis, you embody this commitment to wisdom, empathy and loyalty. May your example have influence on a later generation that is being crudely exploited by the soul-less marketers of rapid-fire culture. Your Ruger No. 1 is a witness to an age, a reminder of eternal principles that cannot be denied, just forgotten.
I answered your comment but I see that good old UA-cam placed it under comments instead of reply. Please look at the comments and it will be obvious which was an answer to you. Dennis
Dennis you are a good friend and good friends don't come along often. A trick I learned to find optical center in scopes: put a mirror on a table and place the ocular of the scope on the mirror. Look through the scope and you will see 2 cross hairs then run the adjustments until they coincide. Now mount the scope.
You know I'm 67 years old Dennis and I've never seen how to really adjust a scope I always thought the crosshairs mood what a dummy thanks for the information everybody's always brought the guns to me to cite them in now I know how to do it professionally thank you Dennis
@Dennis Pritchard Outdoors Dennis I don't know what kinda of chair he's got, my buddy got a newer electric one it had like guick release buckles around the arms, we took 11/2 conduct an built a hoop an used it as rail welded legs to it, fasten those buckles to top rail so it could snap in place on his chair to be soild he killed couple deer this year with it,just a idea good luck on your building him a rail. @@mark7345 Bill Ruger was a fan of the Savage 99 and it had an influence on the design of the No1. He actually converted a 99 to an auto. I might add that I took two two good bucks with it this season.

Really enjoy your channel and your knowledge. I also have several no 1’s and you can’t find a more elegant rifle!
The No 1’s are certainly very special rifles. Got to love them. Thank you Sir for watching and commenting.

Ruger No 1's are beautiful rifles.
I always thought the crosshairs moved
In very old scopes they did.
One of the guys here gad a rail for his chair, you could mount a holder for the gun to the rail hope this helps.
Thank you Sir.
