Lots of fun to watch. Very inspirational. Love the woodland WIP from the 2013 stitching book. I might have to try the berries and stitch along with you. I just completed 3 project bags using your tutorial. You made it clear and easy to follow along and I love my new bags. Thank you for creating the tutorial. "This isn't a channel about ironing." 😆 You have some great wips! That Cardinal Points is such a beautiful piece. It will look stunning when it's done. That's too bad about your Zodiac piece. It looks like you're more than halfway done, but if you're not enjoying it then it will only take time away from other things you want to stitch. I hope you are able to get a few more of the reindeer done this year. They are just beautiful! I'll have to look into those berry patterns. I've never done one but I'm a sucker for a seasonal series. I'm going to hold onto the Zodiac piece for the year just in case the mood strikes. I held on to that map piece for two years before finally letting it go! The berries are addicting! They stitch up very quickly and I like how everyone can be as creative as they want to be with the toppers.
Helen, I just finished Cardinal Points 2 days ago. It became my focus on Dec5 and I tried really hard to get it done for Christmas. No such luck, but I’m happy I stayed with it. There is an awful lot of stitching in that piece! I’ll send you a pic when I take one. Yours is looking fantastic! As is your Barbara Anna tree one.

I am so jealous about the number of wips you have! lol. I have like triple the amount you do and I haven't had much success of getting that down. Love your comment about the, "this is not an ironing channel". Absolutely brilliant! All your wips are gorgeous! I especially love the Owl Forest Embroidery Cardinal and the Woodland Christmas! I think WIP counts are all personal preference. Some people like having a lot of options to mix up their stitching throughout the year. I know that if my number grew much higher it would just be stressful. :)

14 WIPs at year end is excellent. I finished with 26 and of course have started several more since the 1st of the year 😄. Then this morning I needed some floss so went to my LNS and somehow came home with 4 new patterns also! Apparently no floss can travel alone even if the traveling is being done in your vehicle.
No floss can travel alone, it's the law! :) If I had an LNS close by I would be in trouble!

Loved seeing your parade. Lots of good WIPS, plenty of different projects to change things up if your get bored with a project! And I don't iron if I can help it! Judy
Excellent video as usual. I only stitch on aida so I soften it before stitching. I soak it in warm water and a capful of white vinegar. The longer you soak the softener it gets. Rinse then hang to dry or to speed up the drying iron it. Voila all done.

I am also working on Woodland Sampler. Haven’t picked it back up for a few years. You made me think I should go back and finish. Yours looks great!
I'm honestly how quickly that piece stitches up. I only pulled it out for a couple of weeks last year and feel like I got a ton done.
Finally had time to watch your WIP parade. I find it hard to stitch on more than one project at a time so I guess I am called a monogamous stitcher, but I admire all your WIPS. Since I am mostly a sampler stitcher I haven’t been bitten by the berry craze. They are nice but I don’t think they are for me right now.
As a Seinfeld fan, I got a great chuckle out of "The airing of the WIPs". I UFO'd two pieces last year and it was such a relief.. I have one more that I'm going to pitch this year. I love the idea of the piece but I was trying to stitch it with what I had, and I was using a #8 braid from Kreinik that was just too thick for the count of my fabric. I have too much in to pull it out and start over and I have way too many other things that I really want to stitch!
I picked up Cardinal Points, also.. I haven't started it yet, but it's really calling me. Since Winter Rose Manor is calling just as loudly, I've avoiding deciding which one to start first by working on some existing pieces.
I enjoy all of your pieces and finishing; I get so much inspiration from your videos!
Sometimes it really is just a combination of the wrong fabric or wrong floss that make working on a project just no fun. Good for you for moving on!
That was a fun WIP parade. I only have a couple more than you. I agree with UGO’ing I’d it doesn’t thrill you anymore. I am going to look at my stash, I might jump on the Berry bandwagon. Happy Stitching!

I haven't fully abandoned Zodiac yet, but if it goes all year and still doesn't call to me it might happen. My goal is always to finish something, which is why I think I don't have a lot of long term wips. I get bored with them after a while!
Thanks for sharing all your wips and plans. I have plans but they usually go out the window when I open up the kitted up projects or after March market! I hope to get a berry done this year, my first. That is my only plan the rest is fluid. Have a great week.

Helen, I'm a huge fan of your flosstubes, and I don't usually comment but I feel I have to say it's so good to see someone who doesn't keep meticulous notes! 😄 I'm right there with you- why write about stitching when you could be actually doing it?!!
That's how I feel about it. I really should be better about writing down floss changes in case someone asks me, but it's so tedious. :)
I already have the autumn berries chart! Might just need to stitch all the berries! Lol-Ed at this is not a channel about ironing! My stitching is the only thing I do iron! Your Cardinal points looks amazing. Mine is all kitted up but not yet started. It’s patiently waiting! Enjoyed the video and happy stitching!
My stitching is also the only thing here that gets ironed. :)
Great WIP parade Helen! I must say, I was a little disappointed cause I was hoping to see some ironing! HAHA! You are doing much better than I am keeping track of WIPS. I started a chart inventory list in a Word document last year but never remember to update it...too busy stitching to be bothered. Can't wait to see your seasonal berries!

Once again, thank you. I don't want to sound like a stocker but I really enjoy your videos. 1. You do a quality video. 2. You have finishes and fully finished projects. 3. We both stitch in season (pretty much). 4. Not big on samplers, although I am working on G. Ledger 1868. 5. Primarily aida 14 ct. for me. I do like 25 count lugana but I have to use magnification with 28 count ( which is really 14 count so I don't get that). There are probably more but you should be getting the point. Anyway, thanks again and best wishes for 2022.
Thank you so much! I branched out to try lugana in 2021 really out of necessity. I have several charts with over one stitching and that's just too difficult to do on aida. I'm enjoying it, but have found that I have a harder time with the hand dyed lugana, the holes have shrunk up just too much. I really try not to let my wips and new starts get out of hand because the goal for me is to finish a piece and have it on display. And I love swapping out my seasonal pieces!

I really should make it a piece that I stitch a little on every day. But we definitely need to encourage each other to keep going!
Thank you for the WIP parade. I ended with 16 but most were from 2020 when I did stitch mania. I only have 3 from 2021 which I like better. One is Cardinal Points which you inspired me to start. I love it. I have one however that must be 18 years old, Santa of the Forest by Lavender and Lace which i should finish. Started when my boys were babies but are 20 and 21 now.
Lavender and Lace charts are no joke! I've never done a full on stitch maynia, so I'm sure that helps my wip numbers. :)
Just an idea with the book you are working the Woodlands piece from, take the book to an office store and have them to spiral bind it. I do this with all my hard copy cross stitch books. I have them make a color copy of the front and back to add them they give me the hard cover back and these are great to cover and use for a “flat-fold” type finish.
I've heard other people say that they've done that, I may need to look into it!

You have beautiful projects, really different than mines, which is one of the things I really like of flosstube: the variety. I like the berries idea, you've inspired me to try one, yours have all turned out beautiful. I'm a bit wary of evenweave I've tried before but was no good a counting spaces.
Not all of the berries have over one stitching, so they could easily be done on aida. I just looked at the patterns for the Spring Berries and all three of them only call for full crosses. I've done a couple on aida and they look great!

So far I'm really liking it. I'm having to get used to not holding the chart and having the pattern close to my face, but I love that I can highlight a color and then check off what I've stitched!
@@helend.flosstube What I really like is that I can enlarge it to see the area I'm stitching. And being able to highlight and then clear the ones I've stitched is such a great help to me.

Your Cardinal Points is lovely! My son, now nearly 30, was very nearly a leap baby, so thinking I may be able to justify a late entry into the SAL.!! You could jump on the Leap Day sal now and probably still be finished before I am! And eye rolls from our boys are always worth it, no matter what their age. :) Misty's chart was so cute I just had to start right away.

Enjoyed seeing your wips. I have one piece that’s going to end up a UFO also. When I bought it & started it was great but then it quickly was replaced with other stitching I found more enjoyable and more ME. I’m a seasonal stitcher also the exception being if I really love stitching on something I get really into it and then it doesn’t matter what season. I’ll stop to get seasonal must s done & go right back to it,lol. Thank you for sharing enjoyed seeing all your stitchy goodness.
I agree that sometimes our tastes change or we just fall out of love with a project. It hurts to give up on something that we've put so much time into, but I think there's also some freedom in letting it go. :)
Glad to have a revisit with some of your old WIPs that I haven’t seen in a while. And thank you for talking about your UFO piece - it’s giving me the strength to UFO one of my WIPs that I’m really not enjoying!
It's so hard to UFO a project, especially if you've put a lot of work into it. But once you do it feels like a weight has been lifted.

Great WIP parade Helen!! I know what you mean about......1 strand wasn't enough, but 2 was too much. My first BBD design to start was Oh Joyous Day that I started with Abi for inauguration day last year. I started it on my first ever piece of PTP fabric. A 32 count lugana....Doubloon. A beautiful piece of fabric, but 2 strands was way too much, but 1 was no where near enough, so I went ahead and started because this fabric is freaking lovely, just not lovely to stitch on. I got almost all the way across the bottom and I couldn't take it anymore and just stopped. I will finish the 3 flowers into a pin pillow or something. If I ever use the rest of the fabric, it will definitely be for smalls!
Please tell you viewers to not give up hope on those hard to find Craftways books. The exact one you showed (the 2013) was on ebay for $60 and I watched it forever, fully intending to purchase it, if another one didn't show up soon after it came up. Well, perseverance pays off, because it showed up from another seller for $20 and I grabbed it and another year I was searching for. I started collecting those books last year and I have from 2005 until 2021 and I only paid full price for 3 of them that I found on the Stoney Creek website.
If you would really like to stitch that peacock needle book, I have that leaflet from BBD that has the pattern in it. I don't mind loaning it to you. Message me on Instagram (same user name as on here). If I don't get back with you right away, then I'm probably at work. And I think you are an hour or two ahead of me. I'm in the central time zone. But yeah, don't mind loaning out any of my patterns to you. Just let me know!

I'm so glad you were able to find the Craftways book! I got mine for $20 too, but that was several years ago. Those books are great! Thank you for the offer to borrow the peacock chart. I'm going to hold off for now, but I may take you up on it in the future. There's added pressure with a borrowed chart to get it done and I really want to focus on some of my wips the first part of the year. :)
@@helend.flosstube Please don't feel any need to rush.....my stitching time has been greatly reduced since I went back to work two years ago. It will be a very long time before I get to any of my BBD patterns. So, as long as I know where it is, I'm cool with however you need to keep it. Lol

Enjoying your channel and I plan on focusing on smalls this year. I have 2 large full coverage pieces and it’s been a slow start! My focus is crochet, so this is a side for me. Just getting into cross stitch in the last 6 months.

A berry a month sounds fantastic! I have quite a few pulled out that I really want to get to this year.
My TM Zodiac is done but for 1/3 of the frame. No clue what I am going to do with it. I need to finish it for no other reason that I need the scroll rods and floor stand. Ah, well. Shiny isn't always better. And appreciate someone else isn't terribly fancy on the paperwork.
Great WIP parade for 2022! It's a hard decision to UFO a piece, especially one like your zodiac where you've already completed a lot of stitching. However, there are so many things to stitch, you shouldn't spend time stitching something you don't enjoy.

🤗 Hi Helen! You need one of those calendar books or print calendar pages from internet, and just jot down everyday what you work on. I put down when I start something and when I finish it and how many days it took to finish. Keep a running total on the side of page of how many starts and how many finishes. Doesn’t take but few minutes every day. Just an idea. Take care.
I did buy a notebook to try and be better this year. We'll see. If nothing else I'd like to keep track of what flosses I use if I change something so I can tell someone if they ask. I'm pretty good at remembering fabric, but floss is another story!

Misty's chart is called My Heart is Yours and is only available as a pdf on her website. I've gotten my wool from various shops, mostly on ebay. I'm going to reach out to a couple and see if I can get any of them to put together a set for us, so I'll keep you posted. Fingers crossed!

Love seeing all your projects. I am stitching on Cardinal Points also. I love this pattern. Also wanted to ask if you ever received the diagram for the Gamer Cross Stitch marking the section & saying what game is in each section. I wrote & ask about it but he has not answered back.

I don't know, I kind of feel like your afghan counts as more than one wip. 😂 If I were stitching that it would be absolutely covered in cat hair! The piece by the stairs is Frosty Forest by Country Cottage.
I have a question…… do you display your berries? If so, where/how? I have been thinking of stitching some up but I am terrible with the final display part (interior decorator I am NOT). Lol. I love your videos and absolutely love your nerd wall!
Hi Kati! I have a could of bowls/baskets that I use for smalls, so I've been tucking my berries in with them. At Christmas I found a pretty small red cake stand that also worked nicely for putting a few berries on.

I really don't understand how you can do stitching, sitting in the dark, waiting until your son's tennis practice is over. Do you have a portable light or do you just keep the engine running?
It's not ideal, but I'm not going to let that potential stitching time go to waste! I do have a little light. It goes around my neck and has two little lightbulbs and is rechargeable.

Hi Sandra! Floss storage is always an issue, isn't it!? I have my DMC on bobbins in boxes. I have shoe box sized totes for my fancy floss and have the separated by dyer. I like to use flossaway bags. I put an index card in with the floss name on, then keep the skein in front of the card and any extra threads behind the card so they're easy to grab.
