Today’s bass cover is Jeremiah by Michael Omartian.
Michael Omartian’s classic «White Horse» has just improved with age. This timeless debut features classics like Jeremiah, Fat City and Add Up The Wonders, and is not just an absolute CCM classic, but a much beloved album by musos and musicians worldwide.
About the same time this album was recorded and released, Omartian played on other classic albums, like Steely Dan’s «Pretzel Logic» and «Katy Lied», and Billy Joel’s «Piano Man» - and he would go on to produce a series of hits in the following decades. Christopher Cross’ debut album and Peter Cetera’s «Glory of Love» springs to mind.
A true legend.
We used to play this song in the Ole Børud band back when we mainly did covers. It took some practice to get it sounding right, but it was worth the effort. Still loads of fun after 15 years.
David Hungate played the original bass track, a bit more restrained than I did here - I just had to rattle off a few licks from the early Ole gigs.
As always, recorded in one take with my trusty 1974 Precision through my Avalon U5 DI into Logic.
