  • American Truck Simulator Allison Transmission Comparison TC10 vs 4500 RDS R vs 4700 RDS R. In this test, I will be comparing 3 featured Allison Transmission, 10 speed TC10, 6 speed 4500 RDS R, 7 Speed 4700 RDS R
    The truck I will be using is Kenworth W900 with 625HP and 6x4 chassis with 200gal tank

    About American Truck Simulator
    American Truck Simulator is a truck simulator game developed and published by the Czech company SCS Software. It was announced as being in development in September 2013 and unveiled at the E3 2015. It was released on 2 February 2016 for Microsoft Windows, Linux, and macOS. The game is the parallel sequel to Euro Truck Simulator 2, the spiritual successor of 18 Wheels of Steel, and the third installment in the Truck Simulator series. Set in a condensed depiction of the United States, the player can drive one of a choice of American-style conventional trucks, visiting various locations across the U.S., picking up a variety of cargos, and delivering them to its destination. Since its release, the game has sold over 2 million copies on Steam.

    I think you should do a TC10 vs Eaton Fuller 18 faceoff. I love the concept of comparing an automatic gearbox to an automated manual gearbox in a detailed simulation.

    I was on the Allison website a couple of days ago & couldn't find any info on the TC10. No listing, no mention in the charts. What's the latest on the TC10 please? Thanks.

    I honestly think Allison TC10 is better than the EATON gearboxes, 18, 13, or 10. TC10 has a crawler gear, then short gears till' fifth for crawling just like 18 speed gearbox, but the beyond fifth gear, it turns into overdrive, like tall gears for getting up to speed. The most important upside is that you can shift REALLY fast with an Allison. No power-dip, it's like you're driving a double-clutch or a CVT. This is especially useful when climbing uphill. When your engine can't maintain the speed, it starts to slow down, RPM too. in a normal Eaton 18 gearbox, it takes time to shift down. And you lose some momentum because of the power-dip. Allison doesn't have that, and you immediately downshift into desired RPM.

      TC-10 doesn’t have a crawling gear. Only the 4700RDS does.

      Just for note, Allison transmissions are ACTUAL automatic transmissions with torque converters and planetary gear sets. Thats why they shift quicker than the automated manual Eaton Fullers.
      You can test this also, trucks equipped with Allisons actually creep forward, just like IRL!

    So how do the automatic Allison transmissions compare to the 18 speed Eaton units?

      Since it has a lower crawler gear, the ability to choose your gears, and more gears overall it would easily outperform in the hillclimb (especially with a load,) and acceleration if you shift fast enough and into the right gears. Although I believe the Eaton has a lower top gear, all that would do is decrease fuel economy at around 60+ mph.
      Edit/side note: you can get a retarter (transmission brake, similar to an engine/jake brake) for the Eaton, 7 speed, and 6 speed, and not the 10 speed, however the 10 speed would be able to maintain ideal engine braking RPMS over the 7 and 6 speeds (as it has more gears,) partially, or possibly fully, nullifying the fact that it doesn't have a retarter. The Eaton is best though, as it has more gears and a retarter. Although not a major thing (engine braking usually works fine for me,) it still is something to consider for steep downhills with big loads.

    I love the Allison 4700 -- I'm not using it with automatic, rather sequential and it's literally amazing.

    With all due respect compadre I'll say it, your videos are great and expressive but please in your next transmission video do it without the automatic changes, because that is the worst advantage for the uploads, greetings compa.

      Hey thank you very very much, but with manual transmission mode it is really hard to get consisten results

      @@TGMStefa On the contrary friend, the automatic can be very comfortable and everything but in the mountains when you must go up with the engine more revved, and the automatic already at 1500 rpm and went to the other change and one in ascents from raising the rpm to 1600 or 1700 so that the truck does not lose power, do the test and you will see, of course I respect that if with changes you know us so much but I know once in your next video it would be great, if you do you have another new subscriber
