Great overall review. I got the Velomacchi 40 Liter backpack for review. Overall I think the backpack is super slick. The one problem I have pertains to the rivets section, which digs into my clavicle. I would like to see them have some padding over the metal. I think that would fix the issue.
so how is the aerodynamics of this bag. shape looks like it would cause drag and pull on your body at high way speeds tucked in on a sports bike. not riding upright. any comments ?
This has been one of the most popular items in our whole store over the last 6 months. We've got a bunch of reviews on our product page if you want to check them out: www.urbanrider.co.uk/brands/velomacchi/velomacchi-speedway-roll-top-backpack.html I think the brand are fairly niche and new so you won't find it in many stores. Cheers, Andrew
Nice review. I've had my eye on this backpack for a few months now, but there were very few reviews on the pack.. until only recently. The backpack looks modern and of high quality, but I still have question marks on the bag's durability/ruggedness.. and price! Is the bag as durable as a military tactical backpack and.. is it really worth spending that kind of money on? I'm very interested in your views on these points. Great review and thanks for your consideration.
Hi Carlo. All good questions. A few people have mentioned the price already. I get the point but they are a low volume company and if you watch the review you can see how expensive some of the features would be to manufacture for a small, niche company. Whether that represents good value is a personal opinion and obviously most people want something that does the job at a lower price. I've had a Kriega bag for over 10 years; it's truly amazing. However, I decided that given I have used it 1000s of times, the cost per use works out pretty well even on a bag like this. I wanted something new and different, so I went for the Velomacchi. Regarding pricing, we just work off a standard margin. We have sold several this first weekend online so it seems there are people interested. I rode 200 miles this weekend with it. Early signs are that it is durable, yes. Probably not as durable as a military backpack. I'm pretty good at spotting potential weaknesses with new products and I can't see anything obvious with this pack that I don't mention in the above review. A couple of issues were raised from my first few rides though - I don't believe it takes a full 25 litres, I reckon 20 max. Also if you are carrying very heavy items like I was (laptop and tonnes of paperwork) for several hours it isn't quite as comfortable as a Kriega. However, looks amazing, works well, ideal for a weekend bag or for commuting, innovative and fun. Is it worth it? That's up to you guys. Cheers, Andrew
Along the same lines: looking at purchasing either this bag or a Kriega R30 for an upcoming spring roadtrip on a sportbike (high speeds and twisties for 4 days). Which bag would you recommend since you have experience with both bags? I already own two Kriega US-10 and one US-20; plan on stacking the 10/20 on the tail with the 2nd 10 on the tank. All that said is I don't need a super big bag and also don't want the backpack hitting the stacked tail bags. After the trip the backpack will continue duty on/off the bike and as my travel backpack through airports as I fly/travel 100+ days a year. Interested in your recommendation.
Love the front design, very futuristic looking, but then you move to the back, and you see a sack.... WHY??? Make the backpack hard shell with aerodynamic shape, make it looks like a lamborghini, with back laser tail light. If only I am in the design team this would have been amazing. But again, the front strap is very good, being the only selling point.
+opmike343 maybe if you go for a swim with it. I have been riding through British weather for a couple of years and never had any issues. Furthermore, I tend to wear my high-viz over it in the winter (that's a £5 upgrade that will waterproof it for sure).
Honestly don't know fella - never used the Dianese luggage. IF I was buying a backpack I would go for Kriega again based on how bullet proof they are, but would go up to 35L capacity.
I own the R30, R15 and the large waterproof messenger from Kriega. Cant live without them. I use them even off the bike. Bomb proof. Not even a stich has come out.
It could have been a cool backpack. But they blew their budget on that chest latching system. The outer pockets and roll top with a hook are just absolutely horrid designs. Sure, it's interesting to use, but practicality is zero.
absolutely beautiful backpack

What an innovative design - very nice!

Either or... haha
Sorry, I forgot to also ask.. what kind of warranty does Velomacchi offer on this pack? Thanks again.
When did everything become a "system"? When I was young, a strap wwas a strap and a lock was a lock.
Hi there. Does the price tag includes the accessories? (Laptop sleeve, storage case and the pouch) Or does are sell separately?
Hi, no these have to be purchased separately.
Thanks!
love it ....want it & the jacket
Why there's no one buying this backpack!?!!! No reviews no more videos, its like a ghost! I really want it but I'm geeking out cuz the lack of reviews

really nice bag
How much is it?
£249.00 inc VAT in the UK / EU. Full details on the link www.urbanrider.co.uk/brands/velomacchi/velomacchi-speedway-roll-top-backpack.html
It’s unfortunate that Velomacci chose a different look for their 40L backpack. They should have stayed with the design of this 28L version.

kasetankensei agreed
kasetanensei: Complete nonsense.
point 65 boblbee all the way ... backpack & back protector in one package ... 😄
Well its not a Kriega, but it tries. Kriega is the only option here. Tough as nails and reasonably priced for a perfect backpack.
And the white removable waterproof liner in the Kriega stuff really adds something I think.
Erm.. Kriega R25 - £120... this thing with the same capacity £250?! Kriega any day
The R25 isn't waterproof.

Well said mate! I agree. Kriega all the way.
Mate what is your view on Kriega R25 vs DAINESE D-Gambit Stealth Black?
Honestly don't know fella - never used the Dianese luggage. IF I was buying a backpack I would go for Kriega again based on how bullet proof they are, but would go up to 35L capacity.

$430 AUD LOL for a back pack, wow
More than my helmet
Can't see myself spending £250 on a bag when there are many out there just as good for half that price.
It could have been a cool backpack. But they blew their budget on that chest latching system. The outer pockets and roll top with a hook are just absolutely horrid designs. Sure, it's interesting to use, but practicality is zero.
Looks ike a copy of the kreiga system
please spell "velomaki"
nices 😇 bag
$290 bucks? you out your mind!
Too expensive
£250 for a rucksac are you mad? I'll stick with my kriega or my overboard roll top water proof rucksac.
do you know about that round steel Burton? I want to buy that button.
I don't think it is available on it's own - it's a patented part of the Valomacchi roll top backpack system. Cheers, Andrew
Very nice bra, I mean bag
Get a Kriega R30 and save 100 GBP.
I'll stick with my Kriega R30 Backpack instead.
almost.....
This bag costs my than my bike
looks a bit girly,my wife likes it lol
medical details? LOL like what? a friggin band aid?
I presume it's things what your blood type is if you have a serious accident.
+UrbanRider.co.uk ohhh those kind of details lol
"velomacchi" awfully mispronounced...it sounds like "velomakki"
Thanks. Tbh I took a guess. We didn't have a chance to meet these guys before we started stocking their products.
I love a lot of these European products. They just ask way too much money for them.
Hi John. These guys are a US brand.
Wow... They are so nearly there... From the front it looks amazing but when you did your twirl my heart sank... It became a Knox... 😕
