Very impressed, nice job brother! Glad I found your channel, I'm literally picking up one of these cars next week. I've not seen a single.one of these cars in my city for many many yrs lol.
So helpful - couple of questions - I've taken apart my cluster once before (I have 2 spares) but not quite as far as you did. I've never taken needles off before. 1) What is the risk of removing the fuel and temp needles without melting them? is it that the pin comes out and if that happens the springs unwind and you're screwed? or is it something else? 2) if the needle comes out (as it did on your tach) it looked like you just popped it back in, does it need any glue, or is it just held in with tension? 3) miata needles, or any needles really - do they just pop on or were you using any glue to make sure they stay? 4) I want to keep my odometer correct - once you pop that gauge off, is the odometer adjustable (like if I do this on my spare cluster, can I set it to match my existing miles) 5) why wait til the end to put your fuel and temp needles in? Thanks so much man - for real, this is awesome. I love both of your cars. Mine's a '93 Raspberry Metallic GS that I'm trying to bring up to very contemporary spec. I'm planning to do your push button start too.
1. If pin comes out, gauge loses tension and very probable that they won't work properly. 2. No glue, tension only. Speedometer and tach are very durable/versatile compared to temp/fuel. 3. Miata needles is 100% stress free fit. However, you CAN use other needles such as the needles that come in the kit or honda needles, as long as they fit snug. I don't recommend glue. 4. Swap the speedometer gauge/unit to your actual odometer. Unbolts from the back. You can also adjust miles by spinning the speedometer sensor or cable with a drill, to the correct legal mileage. 5. Because of the pull of gravity, I suggest putting on all gauges with the cluster set in position on car. * Fuel = put needle on with low gas/yellow warning light to insure accuracy when you refill * Temp = let car sit idle with AC OFF until it reaches operating temperature and fans come on, then place needle in the middle. * Speedo = put needle on with ignition ON (activates gauge) so it is resting on needle stopper. * Tach - put needle on once idle is stable and car is warm, not during cold start. Usually OEM idle is 750-1000 RPM Thanks again for your support bro🙏 i expect to see some bad ass mx3s from the community 💪🤙
If only Mazda used light pipes back then. I replaced my burnt out HVAC illumination bulb and the way they channel the light throughout the faceplate was...interesting. It's not like it was a new technology in the 90's. I had remote control cars in the 80's that used plastic light pipes to feed light from one bulb to multiple headlights/tail lights. Those crazy 80's/90's, color changing lamps with all of the "fiberoptic" hairs all over them were basically using light pipes.
Hey dude I know maybe you are offline on this channel but one question, I’m gonna buy a Mazda MX3 but here in Portugal I see many of them with shity radios without Bluetooth, do you have a video here you chance the radio
Yes, you can buy any aftermarket radio from a reputable brand (kenwood, pioneer, sony, etc) with bluetooth and buy the adapter wiring harness. Thanks for watching!
this is freaking amazing dude - thank you SO much for posting. gonna be doing this real soon.

Yea, they used alot of acrylics and light transfer methods back then

How long did it take for shipping on al parts?
Sorry for the late reply. Shipping the US from the UK took about 1-2 weeks. Definitely worth it though, the LED plates are hard to find!
Que paso con el otro canal?
Voy
He meant heat shrink. Not shrink wrap. Don't shrink wrap your electrical wires. lol
