    What are your thoughts on footing requirements at the upper or lower landing/ of steps? would you just do a thicker slab, or a couple pillars per slab?

      The bottom step has a large thickening. Top doesn’t need one. Bottom always has one which keys it into the ground

    Hey mate what kind of hammer is that. And why did you purchase that style hammer? cheers

      Hi, it is a German latthammer. I worked with some Germans and they let me use one for a while and I liked it. The pick is great for picking up timbers and you can put it into prop winders and use your hammer as a lever to wind props up and down. I will never go back to a claw hammer.

    Seu canal tem me ensinado a aprender as palavras mais usadas em inglês nas obras e também o nome das ferramentas! Isso realmente é muito interessante, eu gosto desse tipo de trabalho

    Loving your videos. Surprised they didn't strip on the day. I'm building a concrete retaining wall atm & my neighbour keeps coming over to finish my concrete, meanwhile I just want to knock off & have a beer...😁

      yeah I asked them, I was a bit surprised they didn't want to. I actually priced to pour these myself with a mate but we were double the price. well in the end we would have been much cheaper as I heard they are going to remove the stairs and get me to re-do them a third time!

    You are suppose to strip the forms and mag out the risers to get any honeycomb out and any of that cream that gets trapped under the forms

    Can you use the concreate nails on fully cured concrete. Or do they only work on brick?

    • @bmformworkconcreteconstruc9783
      @bmformworkconcreteconstruc9783  2 роки тому +1

      I plan to make a video on fixings I use and for each surface. I'm actually just using framing nails for timber. 2in into mortar. sometimes I add some concrete nails if mortar is a bit soft or a bit too hard. Into cured conc I usually drill a 6.5mm hole and use a tek screw with a piece of wire.

    How long you let it sit before stripping

      Stairs the next day. If you leave too long the timber can stain the conc. But if you are worried about chipping the conc it really hardens up after 3 days.

    Concreters: you don't always get what you pay for. I once queried a concrete mix. I was told...'IT ALL GOES HARD MATE!' I then had to pick his drinks cans out of the trench before threatening to throw him off site.

      @@bmformworkconcreteconstruc9783 I agree. Sad, especially when some of the guys can be super meticulous and really strive for the best. Sometimes it can be worth talking to the engineer and making some trial batches to get the right finish, then advising the concreters. The batch plant will mix up what you need. Many just go with a standard mix that could be easily improved on. Concrete technology is still moving forward at quite a pace.
