Being Punch owner, I accept there is some issue with the lock system, but referring to the Manual, it is clear mention to not sit any kid at front co passanger seat. Moreover with the use of seat belt it is somewhat manageable as the door is quite heavy, to still get Opened by the push from a small kid or even an adult, and it gets auto locked again after some time, that I observed(I have 5 year old kid), but yes it could've been better. (BUT I THINK ITS NOT LEGIT BY LAW TO MAKE KIDs TILL CERTAIN AGE TO SIT IN FRONT PASSANGER SEAT. 2. I completely disown this owner's statement about average. On Highways 18-20 with AC is achievable (depending on the driving style). I easily get that. Although its a very poor performer in BtoB traffic. 3. I think External fit and finish doesnt bother much, no dust or nothing comes inside the cabin. But!!!!! , its plastic part that is attached to the tail gate near parcel tray came out after 140 km of offroading in Indian village roads, which is very annoying. 4. For power, yes it lags, because of smaller engine, more kerb weight, and less aerodynamic design. But Its blessing in disguise, you remain in your limit, and drive safe and it doesnt dissapoints. Im a person who is driving enthusiast, but my style is smooth rides with good music, not unneccessary overtaking, enjoying gossiping with friends&family while enjoying a coke can, and I am getting all the fun.( except poor Central console design) Almost non disturbing cabin noice. I think premium Altroz petrol also comes with same engine,and it acceleratesfaster, but can't do Punch like offroading. Yes, those cars with Plastic built are much faster even with smaller engines and much fuel efficient, but unme "Bhartha" bhi accha banta hai.

Similar locking system also exists in Duster. There is a locking switch which when activated keeps the door locked when the door handle is pulled from outside but still remains unlocked from inside when the door lever is pulled. i10 and Baleno have another manually lockable knob/system/button on each door which when pushed or slightly rotated keeps the door locked or unlocked.
The locking system is same in altroz as well. It’s very risky I don’t have any kids so never faced any issue but one day a friend of mine sat in front seat with her kid on her lap and we were going around 80-90kmph the kid opened the door. I had to break at the same time due to traffic ahead , so car door wide opened at 90 degree at 90kmph 😂 luckily it was not opened to 180 degree by another car. It was a scary situation luckily came out of the situation without an accident. You know how busy is NH8 in office hours.
One issue is long price range of punch variants. The topmost amt variant with pack is almost double the price of that of base manual variant. This attracts all sort of buyers from Alto to Ertiga enthusiasts to punch. Alto guys dislike Punch's mileage whereas ertiga brezza guys hate its engine. Perhaps, Tatas should have introduced adventure rhythm as base variant and focused on niche compact SUV segment letting Tiago compete with Swift's and i10s.
I have new nexon September 2021, in starting days average was almost 8 to 10 kmpl, then after 1500-3000 km, 1st or 2nd service, you will see dramatic change in mileage, I am getting 13-14 kmpl in hill areas with inclined road, in highway I am sure that it will give minimum 18 kmpl mileage.. And same can happen with PUNCH, So don't worry, after some time It will give good mileage.

I am owing Tata Punch Adventure model and have ran it over 2000 kms and almost on all terrain here in Pune Maharashtra and Kokan. I easily get 17km in City and on Highway i got around 19km per litre that too at tripple digit speeds. Door issue definitely is an big problem but with no solution 😅

Vw and Skoda have a different system. Yes it unlocks when you pull that lever first time but a child can not open the doors, as they are just too heavy. No other brand has that heavy doors

This locking system is same to ford figo you can't open from outside I think is good for safety if car got fire you can get out safely. Second good thing if you left key inside by mistake it never locked .

The locking system is not a problem that someone from service centre can solve .. it's a design flaw ..the only way to solve it is to change the locking system of the cars.. specifically in Altroz and Punch

It is already written in booklet that below 13 years children's should not sit in front seats and at back side child lock already given. Front door opens in single time because in case of accident doors will open easily.
First of all, by law, children below a certain age are not allowed to sit in the front co driver seat... When u make them sit in the rear seat, there's child lock, so that this kinda situation doesn't happen... The same kind of locking mechanism is implemented in other brands in Europe and/or US... this is done for in case of accident/drowning etc when you're incapacitated and are at no position to separately open the door lock and you can easily just open the door..

Problems faced in my Tata Punch. 1) Cabin light and automatic engine stop: Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Cabin light is really annoying. 2) Brake: Brake was releasing so loud noise that i felt awkward while I was driving in down hill city road. I heard the same noise from Tata Tiago also. 3) Gear Box: Gear shifting is not smooth. Sometimes it gets stuck. 4) Tyre noise: Noise (fat..fat.......)is coming from my rear tyre while driving at speed of above 60km/hr. If anyone is facing this tyre problem and got solution please let me know.

Did you get to know what is that clicking sound? I did ask the tata guys to check it during my first service, but they said there is no such issue. The sound was not that loud that time. Seating with a child that small in the front seat is quite irresponsible. There is something found by the name 'child seat'. Please use it. In an event where the front airbags deploy (and your child is seating on the lap of his Mum), you and your wife would possibly repent the outcome of that incident for the rest of your life.

I have a Tiago 2021 model. Usme driver window mein ek button diya hai jo poore windows ko lock kar deta hai. And usme additional lock bhi hai..punch maine bhi chaliye hai but ye notice nahi kiya

The locking system is not a problem that someone from service centre can solve .. it's a design flaw ..the only way to solve it is to change the locking system of the cars.. specifically in Altroz and Punch
There are reasons why 100% door lock control is not given to driver. There are laws behind it. It’s not a flaw in the product. It is designed in that way.
For child, its illegal to make them sit in the front and moreover there are isofix child seats for better safety. Hi

As per guide line... children's are not allowed to seat in front side below 12 years , so its the passenger fault... , tata give this facility for safety purpose.. tata is not fool that they give this system ... sir so atleast u must understand it .

It is already written in booklet that below 13 years children's should not sit in front seats and at back side child lock already given.

First of all, by law, children below a certain age are not allowed to sit in the front co driver seat...
When u make them sit in the rear seat, there's child lock, so that this kinda situation doesn't happen...
The same kind of locking mechanism is implemented in other brands in Europe and/or US... this is done for in case of accident/drowning etc when you're incapacitated and are at no position to separately open the door lock and you can easily just open the door..
but in India Children wont listen & always cry to sit in front seats only. You cant help.

Problems faced in my Tata Punch.
1) Cabin light and automatic engine stop: Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Cabin light is really annoying.
2) Brake: Brake was releasing so loud noise that i felt awkward while I was driving in down hill city road. I heard the same noise from Tata Tiago also.
3) Gear Box: Gear shifting is not smooth. Sometimes it gets stuck.
4) Tyre noise: Noise (fat..fat.......)is coming from my rear tyre while driving at speed of above 60km/hr. If anyone is facing this tyre problem and got solution please let me know.
Hey bro, even I am having same issue with the cabin lights and auto engine stop. Also I hear some clicking sound coming from tyre somewhere whenever I drive. Did you get to know what is that clicking sound? I did ask the tata guys to check it during my first service, but they said there is no such issue. The sound was not that loud that time. But it's a bit louder now.
