  • In this video, all of the participants get to know one another a bit more by reflecting on a set of questions (listed below).
We then dive into how Ayurveda looks at healing: Healing in a Conscious, vibrational Universe. From that understanding we then discuss how intention is the cosmic thread that connects all aspects of an Ayuryoga practice - with healing, liberation and expanded awareness being the core shared essence of Yoga and Ayurveda.
At some point, the Zoom video recording cut out in the studio, but luckly there was audio recording from my phone. This is why the final portion does not have any video.
    ***Reflection questions:
    To share:
    1. Why do you practice Yoga?
    2. Why do you teach?
    3. What are you teaching people (to do, feel, experience)? / What is happening when you teach?
    4. What is healing to you?
    5. What are you hoping to get from this training?
For the Ayuryoga Intention Crafting activity:
    A. What have you healed from in your life?
    B. What are you still healing from?
For the AyurYoga Intention Crafting activity, participants were asked to work in pairs (can also be done by yourself), to transform answers to the questions (A & B) into the design of an Ayuryoga practice.
To design an Ayuryoga practice determine:
The class title - your very clear intention for the class.
This is what I call the "spell" you're casting. Examples: 1) Turning fear into trust. 2) Breathe for your broken heart. 3) Balancing your way to confidence.
The physical focus or peak pose.
Is this an inversions practice focused on the wonders of your forearms and their ability to turn your fear upside down? Are you practicing deep diaphragmatic breathing into back and side ribs to liberate tight hips and hearts? Are you warming up to hold Garudasana with your eyes closed and feel how confident you can be with your current practice?
    The breath focus:
This may be a pranayama practice at the beginning or even during the sequence. Also, how are you thinking to guide people's breath during the practice to move prana where you want it to go and with the energetics you want? Maybe you will practice kapalbhati to charge up the area where fear lives and to learn to pull your front ribs in for an inversion. Or you lay face down to feel into breathing into your back ribs as you feel your heartbeat on the ground. It could be going back to box breathing throughout the practice to stay steady and keep even your breath balanced. If you're practicing pranayama, what pose might you practice it in to add to the effects?
The emotional or spiritual lesson you would like to point your arrow at.
Remember it's not about having all the answers, and not all healing comes in the form of words. With that said, what is the focus you are pointing back to and working to see in order to heal? Maybe you are working to release struggle and fear by relaxing your/your student's face muscles, and letting go of the "I can't do it" mentality by practicing dolphin on the wall or other inversions. You could focus on a moment or situation of heartbreak at the beginning to feel into your heart, and then breathe for your broken heart for an hour (yes please!), or maybe you're just wanting to feel and practice uptaking a sense of accomplishment, peace and confidence in a pose that used to be more of a struggle than it is now.
