One day, one year I was at this Fort Defiance Hospital and I sat in this chair in the main waiting room of the Hospital, and two seats from me was an elderly Dine woman who spoke very of good English and she had stories to tell and at the same time she was very joyful and energetic, and from that moment I knew she was someone special and I'm very grateful to have shared that moment sitting next to her even though I never had a conversation with her .. and to view this video it brings me back to that one particular day...
Matzo she has a heart of gold she is very kind and good words and always in good spirits that's what her strong as a women she will always be beatuiful in her own ways
A lot of respect for this Dine' woman. I've had the honor and privilege to work with her back in 2007-2011. I looked up to her a mother figure. A'ho, shi ma.
In my e-book: "Ancient Navajo Knowledge Revealed" I thank and honor the Navajo people for their longlasting memory of the ancient history of mankind. I give nice examples and explanation of some sand paintings.
The Navajo tribe is much older than we think. They left us important information about the past of mankind. In their sand paintings they show us the appearance of Nibiru and the seven world periods that are caused by this appearance. In the book "Caesar's Comet = Nibiru I tell the whole story.
Wow! she knows a lot! she isn't like other Navajo people. very educated for an elder... I like that fact that she's fluent in both language. Navajo and English. =)
Many Navajo live in various world environment and retain their Navajo roots. Navajos don't usually go around tooting their horns of the knowledge and wisdom they carry. Mrs. Mitzie is mistaken that Fort is the only health place that has cross cultural. Winslow, AZ incorporated a cross cultural about 1983 under the guidance of Vida Know and Jonas Bennally a medicine man. A Hogan was built in Winslow. In addition to cross cultural medical offerings, was the implementation of healthy eating via a community garden and walking groups. In the early 1980's Winslow health clinic accomplished were praised nation wide in health journals. Humans are not perfect in their knowledge, yet many have so much wisdom and experiences. Many, many of elderly parents and grandfather's are well educated in both American and Navajo worlds.
Those churches on the Sovereign Homeland of the NAVAJO NATION need to start paying taxes and rent to the NAVAJO NATION!! It's long over due!! no one told them to build their Churches on Navajo land!! But our leaders are to weak to pursue this issue!!! The Navajo Nation also needs to sue to Mormon church and all these other churches that illegally punished our youth for believing and speaking our Native language!! NATIVE INDEPENDENCE!!!
Cody, we don't charge or demand earthly payment of people or groups doing their spiritual or religious work. We don't have to like or embrace them. We do have to acknowledge their spiritual status and let them be for the welfare of our people who choose to be with them. We do have to practice our strong teaching of generosity and kindness to the all creations our Creator. We are Holy People and must act in holy ways. Not all leaders are bullies or pushy, hopefully our leaders are wise and kind. Wisdom and kindness are not signs of weakness. Ugly actions, madness, anger, meanness are not ways of our Ceator or Holy People whose ways are of strength.
Blah, My mother and her Great grand mother told me Shaking hands was White man thing, In the ancient ways there was not touching, or hugging, or kiss on the cheek stuff. the spiritual discipline. We Dine may not be Asian but I understand why the Japanese don't touch each other and why the Chinese kept a distance space between one another. i attend not to shake other's hands cause im Dine. although we are breaking Taboos here.
Truth. Americans taught the importance of hand shaking, the touching strangers. Americans also stress eye connection, looking into each others eyes, holding thempostion of head head high as if snifing higher level air. Hugs were only for immediate family, if even then. The boarding schools, the Christian missionaries taught or forced hand shaking hands and looking into eyes. Most traditional Navajos stand at a six from each other, they don't ever touch strangers, never into the soul via eyes. Our grandparents now gone, most would be about 150 years old to us now the seniors and elders. These old now long gone grandparents did not shake hands, they respected the private space of individuals. A semi lowered head was not docile or shame but a gesture of humbleness, humility, sincere honesty. Shameful to make eye contact. As time passes Navajos just as other humans adapt to stronger more common environments. Assimilate and adapt.
Truth. Shaking hands, is touching or invading another's space. A sick glance and saying hello is an acknowledgement of humanity. Only with family and friends do we share our space. It takes times to establish friendships and family. Your parents and grandparents have taught you Navajo truth not B.I.A. boarding school or Christian school teaching of touching strangers by means of handshake, hugs or kisses. Stand away a distance from people, don't step into their spiritual space.
