Hello I have a 2016 smart car Fortwo with the android radio from alibaba. I have a wireless backup camera I am trying to hook up to the radio. I have found ccd for video in but what wires do I use to power the reciever? Rear lights power the camera and the transmitter in the rear of the car but which wires from radio to power the wireless reciever? Thank you
Hi, I plan on buying an electric ForTwo, next year. I wanted the "Cool & Media" package and the rear camera, but they are very expensive for what they do. When I saw your videos (well, the head unit and this one), I thought that maybe I can get enough functionality from these, so that I don't need the original. I had an Android unit in my previous car and I was satisfied with it. If you can find the time, could you tell me: - During Bluetooth calls, does it use the car's microphone or its own? Actually, the question is if the call quality is as good as with the original head unit? - In your experience, the dynamic guidelines of the reverse camera do match the turning path of the car, or they are just for show and dangerous to rely on? - Beside the guidelines, AC and door sensors, what other functions did you find that the CAN bus integration offers, customized to the ForTwo? Their lack is one of the main points against a Chinese head unit, compared to the original TomTom unit. Plus some functions added to the electric version, but I'll have to find out if they are redundant or not (the instrument display and the pods already show some electricity info). Notes: - Despite the obvious accent, you have a very clean pronunciation, to the point speaking, contained enthusiasm and better than average vocabulary, in my opinion, even in these short presentations. It's a refreshing treat to listen to these videos. I learned English as a foreign language and I hope that I am an at least as good communicator as you are in these videos, or that I will be someday. You should have a job speaking to people, if you don't already. - I bought, for about 130$, a "bird view camera", for my current car. It's amazing to get it for so little, it's an option which only the top cars have. Too bad mine was faulty, but I think to get a new one for the smart. It's good for parking (why smart doesn't offer *front* parking sensors/camera, I don't know - I don't want to scratch my front corner or the other car, when I'm parallel parking into a space) and it's also good for nonstop, 360° recording while driving or parking, with automatic battery protection. Not an ad, there are many sellers online for these, but you seem like *the* guy to install something like this. The most difficult part is getting the wires through the rubber tubes, so I think I can do it in one afternoon and, judging by the video, you won't have any problem. Thank you.
Hi Bryan, I only had the small standard SMART radio, so not sure about the TomTom navi-unit. If you check behind the unit, and confirm it's a single DIN unit, then I believe this Android will fit.
Tks so much I will do so, by the way I mdr some mods too: Brabus exhaust and bumper, k&n filter, Écu reprogramed, light bulb changed, JBL twitters, and an under seat sub woofer, now I’m finishing the android radio and rear camera. Have a nice we, tks one more time.
you got a link or the specs to your camera? i got a "gift" camera with my head unit, but the FoV sucks so bad i either see the bumper and nothing behind me or look behind and cant see the bumper. the FoV on your camera seems to be perfect. you can see the headlights of the jeep behind you AND your rear bumper! thats what im looking for :) thanks!
hi, im looking to buy the screen... is the screen really close to the wippers control 8dont know how you call the part in english) thanks for your help
Hi Gordon !!! Can you help me possibly? I have everything connected to my car as shown in your video. But I have only a picture of the rear camera when I start the app. I have to change from front to rear camera so I have a picture back. Do you have an idea why that could be why the radio does not switch automatically? Greetings Thomas
Hi Thomas - did you connect the rear view camera to 1) the little red wire, and 2) to the reverse light? Do you also have a front camera? I don't have that, so can't answer that.
I have behind the taillight the red cable and the green from the back connected and the black to the black. front at the radio I have the red ans red and the black ans black connected. Front camera I did not but the app in the radio I can switch between front and rear camera
Thomas Cesar at 4:56 you’ll see a little red wire. Did you connect that to the back of the radio? There should be another thin wire named CCD or similar. That will turn the camera on automatically once it gets power from the reverse light. I’ve never used the app to turn on the camera.
I know now in the moment not whether I have connected it to ccd tomorrow will look again and then report! thank you for your answer / help see what tomorrow tomorrow will be

Jacob, please can you confirm if this radio/sat nav unit can be fitted in a car that has the original tom tom unit fitted,

Can you share the link to the backup camera you used?
Hi, is the microphone quality acceptable, in phone calls? Thank you.
Hi could explain me how to remove the center hp cover, I like to put the gps antenna like you?
Gael Sold Hi Geal - I just used a flathead screwdriver and carefully popped it off. It’s only held in place by a few clips.

gordo1902 no, it has the same distance as the original radio... in the video it's not pushed all the way in :-)
thanks for your help!
Why do I have to push avin for my camera screen to pop up? It doesn’t just show up when put in reverse?
TheTimes Have you powered it by the reverse lights?
At 0.30 there is a little red wire. Have you connected that correctly?
