Obor Market - To start off this day of eating, we headed to the biggest fruit and vegetable market in Bucharest, Obor Market. After walking around the amazing fruit selection, and vegetables, we had a quick cup of freshly squeezed grape juice.
Terasa Obor Mici - Located at the market is one of the best Romanians street food stalls in the city, Terasa Obor Mici. There’s nothing like a few mici in the morning with some beer. The owner here is also incredibly friendly, and they serve probably the best mici in Romania.
Argentine Steak & Sushi - Next up on this food tour of Bucharest, we had a lunch cooked by Chef Catalin Petrescu ( / chefcatalinpetrescu ) who uses Romanian ingredients to make Japanese food - and it’s amazing food. Cristian also supplies microgreens for this restaurant ( / cristian_tudor_microgr... . It was an outstanding meal.
Parliament of Romania - The most important and iconic landmark in Bucharest is the Parliament of Romania, the second largest administrative building in the world. We took a quick tour of some of the most decorated and beautiful rooms.
Origo Coffee Shop If you love good coffee, when you’re in Bucharest, Romania, this is the place to go.
Dristor Kebap - This chain of Romanian style shawarma is a must try when you’re in Bucharest. I loved the unique selection of vegetables, and especially the stir mix of all the ingredients, which I haven’t seen in other countries.
Caru' cu bere - Finally, to complete this incredible day of Romanian food in Bucharest, we went to Caru' cu bere, a historical Romanian restaurant, full of cultures, and meaty Romanian food. Every night is a party at Caru' cu bere!

I’ve never wanted to go to Romania more! As an American, my ideas of food and culture have been stunted from early. Since I started following Mark, the entirety of the world has been opened to me. And I can now see all that is lacking in our American society. I’ve never been out of my state let alone my country. Because of Mark, I’ve been all over the world and have “met” some loving and kind people. 30 years ago, this would not have been possible. Gratitude to the age of technology! And gratitude to Mark! I just came back from Romania after visiting for a month. Farmers markets are amazing! I have to say, the freshness of everything there is absolutely amazing!

Yeah, it's great. I live in Bucharest. If you have money, Bucharest could be a living dream. Recommend coming, but there's also gypsys, so watch out for your pocket.

I don't think I've ever seen you have more food happiness than in Romania. It's such a great place -- there's kind of a 'rawness' in the best sense of the word.
Romania hands down have the best food I’ve seen from your Eastern European travels.
I supervised a building site at a LNG site a few years ago and all the contractors were Romanian.
Hard working people and very hospitable. Every time I visited their eating accommodation containers, they always offered to share their lunch with me.

I’ve been lucky enough to travel to Romania and can’t say enough good things about the warm, welcoming, incredibly generous people I encountered throughout the country! And the food is absolutely stellar, showing some influences from the countless foreign troops that marched back and forth across its landscapes but retaining a strong identity of its own. The quality and variety of local ingredients helps this cuisine shine. Thanks for sharing!

Bucharest is okay, but you must also visit Cluj and Brasov.
If possible, take the Transfagarasan or Transalpina routes by car, you will not regret it.

I'm so happy to see this series in Romania. Gives justice to the culture and food of my husband's country and to the Balkans too. Let's hope that also Serbian television will invite Mark to Belgrade, Novi Sad and all the beautiful places and food... while Italy is already famous and well known for food and culture, but the food in Serbia and also in Romania has more a real taste, difficult to explain to people that have lived only in Western Europe. Come to the Balkans and feel welcomed!

700-800 grams per size, for the big one. You can't eat it in one sit, without some strong alcohol like palinca or vodka to give you a kick. There's only one moment when you can eat it a sit, after coming out of a pub or night club and you drank alcohol like a sponge and you need something to absorb all the alcohol.

Unfortunately that style is sort of lost in history, 99% of the buildings here too are made to look modern and boring and I am not a fan of it. I like the older, more sophisticated style over the minimalist-glass look but hey, that may be just me!

I love mici, but If you have a chance, get the Bosnian “mici” called čevapi made with Lamb instead of pork (due to Muslim population). The lepanji bread is amazing.

Part of the recipe is the atmosphere, you get the same thing no matter if you are rich or poor. It's the sense of equality and a food that everyone can enjoy. Of course it's not healthy but once in a while you find yourself craving a few mici with mustard ;)
