Met Keene right after the show. He was such a nice dude, and didn't seemed annoyed that I wanted a photo with him. Really hope he gets the help he needs and continues to stay healthy. We NEED more Faceless tunes in the near future!!!
I always think about how every body just “outed” him as some heathen. His past bandmates literally just exposed/cancelled him for clout, and left him defenseless. People need to understand that addiction becomes an actual disease, literally just try giving up coffee in the morning, and tell me how you feel. He’ll forever be my first introduction to technical death metal (and fallujah, both were live at the same show), and I hope he’ll be around for a long time in the future stronger and healthier.
@@joselaba it wasn't for clout, he did some shitty things but he also went through a lot of shit and recently lost his fiancee, I'm surprised he's even still going and respect him a lot for that
I’ve briefly interacted with him on 3 separate occasions, and he was super nice and polite each time. I hope he can get it together.

Wish I had a venue as good as this in my hometown. We have a couple decent one's but this venue is next level. Band's don't even have to drape their flag...that display in the background is massive. Awesome venue to film a music video in.

A few years back these guys co heels lined a show with rings of Saturn, house was packed with RoS played and when the faceless came on there were maybe 15 still there. Everyone bailed before their set! I felt so bad but they had a killer session, glad I stayed to see it

Yeah, this happened to me when I saw them on the same tour but in Baltimore. They crushed but the crowed dipped after RoS.
They need to get John Carpenter who did all vocals on The Contortionist Exoplanet and Instrinsic albums. He not only is an awesome person but he can write really good music. He plays all instruments too. I feel he would be a breath of fresh air for The Faceless

I thought Geoffrey did a great job vocally, the live performances with him sound great and Autotheism is a sick album. Also noone can really replace Lyle on the drums, guy was an absolute demon.

Man for real, Keene is the modern Chuck Schuldiner. His creations musically in The Faceless is so addicting, heavy, beautiful, complex, technical, jazzy, proggy, headbanging and just amazingly crafted is ridiculous. The faceless for me is the best tech death metal band out there. I mean, most people would say Archspire to be the Kings of the genre and don't get me wrong I love Archspire too but, it is just brutal technicality wheras The Faceless musicianship has a lot more soul to it. FACELESS FOREVER! Michael, you gotta push this vocalist to better his performance live or just get a replacement bro, for real!

They're def using backtracks here. You can best hear the difference after guitar breaks - and the whole band kicks back in together. Bands at this level will be using backtracks 100% of the time if they don't have a bass player and can't find one to tour with or whatever.

gosh, Keene reminds me Schuldiner in some moves he makes with guitar. Not sure what happened, but he definitely became more alive and everything sounds as good as on the old records (noone can beat Demon Carcass' vocals tho, but still)🤌

Based off his performance here, there's no chance in hell he's ever been anywhere near perfect. I wouldn't even call it acceptable. Derek is a god.
Michael Keene finally figured out cloning so he can play drums in The Faceless. Only a matter of years till we get Neomorph.

The drummer is Aaron Stechauner, and the guitarist on the right (facing the crowd) is Andrew Virrueta, both are from Interloper. I don't know about the vocalist, though. Maybe someone else can fill that in for me.

Definitely not the original vocalist. Derek Rydquist was the vocalist for both Akeldama and Planetary Duality. The whole band (except Keene) has been replaced for each album since PD.
