This should be a lesson to everyone to give people their privacy. It's heartbreaking that Hannah had to make this video because people couldn't leave well enough alone. I hope she knows that the majority of her audience loves and supports her regardless of tough decisions.
+Sarah Pittman let's not get carried away. It's not really a big issue to give away a dog if you travel a lot. Worse things have happened. Maybe it's more emotions attached to the situation that she is feeling. Besides, if she hadn't mentioned it, I think 99% of her viewers wouldn't know. One fleeting tumblr post in the bit storm of the internet.
+Dan Frederiksen That doesn't mean that people can talk about it openly or gossip or pass judgement on her for it, which is what she said. She's getting a lot of backlash for it from people who don't understand, and that's making this situation much more difficult and heartbreaking for her. Just because you know something - even if it was posted momentarily, or if it was mentioned briefly, or even if it was an accidental private-post-posted-publicly thing - until she decides to share it with us, it's her business, and we shouldn't be making assumptions or giving her a hard time. Just because she's doing the right thing doesn't mean it's easy for her, and just because she's a public figure doesn't mean she isn't a person with emotions that need to be processed, and she doesn't have to share anything with us if she doesn't want to. It isn't up to us when she shares anything, and it's extremely disrespectful of us to push it because it just isn't our business to push.
+Dan Frederiksen Don't presuppose that because you didn't know/hadn't heard that 99% of viewers fall in that category. I am not an avid tumblr user and I had seen the post at least eight times... with many speculating prior to the post about her whereabouts. And people where saying how disappointed they would be if she gave him up blah blah blah. So she unfortunately felt like she had to address it.
I think another lesson here is that buying/adopting a doggie shouldn't be solely based on fleeting emotions. This should be a serious, well-thought-out decision. When we take animals into our homes, we are promising them that we will love them and care for them until death! I'm sad that it has come to this decision for Hannah & Ollie. I am happy she is taking the adoption process seriously and I can only hope Ollie doesn't feel any abandonment... And only feels security and love from his new family.
This looks like a comment but is actually a hug. Hannah, I hope you know how much we all love and support you. You make videos for us to watch. They are awesome videos. I'm here for you and your community value and your drunk cooking and your life advice. What you do with the 10,000-ish other minutes that you spend offline (or online, doing your own personal stuff) is your choice and it's your life, not ours. I hope that we can all remember in the future that UA-camrs are people who make videos for a job. Everything else is their choice. They do not owe us total, personal transparency. I'm proud of you for doing what's right, even though it isn't easy.
I would like to join that hug, because I can't find better words for that matter. Losijg a pet sucks, even if it is out of choice. But especially if one has to keep up with all the crap you need to deal with because you happen to be known by a few more people than the average human being.
I very, VERY, rarely comment on UA-cam because I'm insecure (also...old) and afraid my words won't be right but I feel like I need to just offer you words of support. You add a lot of joy to the world, and it's hard to make decisions like you have had to make, even outside the public eye. People who judge you harshly for that are not part of the ripples of joy you create in your community and I hate that for you but know for every one person speaking negatively about you and your choice, there are dozens of us silent (and too insecure to speak up) who support you.
Nice work and yeah, you're definitely right. Hannah might not know it but her demo really is across the board (late 20's married straight guy here). For any of the clowns who hate on her for making the tough decisions one has to take, it just shows how petty and insecure they really are themselves. Or self righteous and thats even worse. I surely hope she doesn't let this affect her more than it has already, as it's not a necessary part of being someone as well known as herself. There's a GIGANTIC population of people out there who love her(most importantly of course) and her content. And let's be honest, those are the only people who's opinion matters in this whole shebang(sp?). Amirite or amirite?
+KristenCorpse It's not just this one. Look at the CTFxC. The DLV. PVP for that matter. They all do it. I can somewhat understand. UA-camr fan bases have been burned in the past from people who used young female fanbases for sex (Milsom, Pepper), and now some UA-camrs are being investigated by the FTC for pushing products for money and not saying it was a promotion. They feel used, so they feel they have to sleuth things out. But they don't. it's people's private lives they're screwing with. People should really re-consider making a channel. It gets big, or a fanbase, they;ll screw you in the end.
As someone who fund-raises, advocates and all that jazz for animal adoption, the way you're going about this and what you're doing for Ollie is the best thing you can do. You're giving her her best possible chance and making sure personally that she goes to a family or a person who has the time for a dog and will love her as much as you do. I hope the adoption process goes smoothly and you find the perfect home for Ollie. I'm just sorry this has been brought up before you're ready for it to brought up. You don't owe anyone any answers or an explanation, you have Ollie's best interests at heart and that is all that matters.
Dear Hannah This is none of our business and I don't understand why people feel like it's necessary for you to put your life on display. It's one thing to be part of the community and are inspired by you, but it's terrible that people are pressuring you into things you don't want to do. Just know that we care about you and you should do what's best for you and what's best for Ollie (and who or whatever else you have in your life) It's your life, not ours. Love u💟
From everything that I've seen of Hannah, I feel as if she's a very beautiful and kind person. I'm not sure why this topic became a big deal to some, but I don't remotely doubt that Hannah did not make the decision lightly. We're not her; we don't know the circumstances in which this became necessary. In parts of the world, animals are thrown out on the street and beaten and chased and have their limbs broken. I've witnessed it. So. Giving your dog to another loving family out of necessity is far from a problem worth shaming someone for. Just some food for thought.
+Tolu Osi As a vet who has adopted dogs in the past and treats lots of adopted dogs, the kinds of people who choose to adopt a et rather than get a baby one are usually clear-thinking, well-meaning, and most go into it informed and experienced. They want to give that pet a new chance at a family, and most of the time it goes great. Plus, if Ollie's anything like my 2 monsters, she'll be in love with her new owners in no time at all (I often criticise their lack of loyalty, but the truth is that a dog who loves everyone can never be sad). It's a heartbreaking thing to have to do, but in most cases the end result for the dog is a happy home and that's all anyone wants.
I don't get why people are criticizing. Hannah's doing a good thing! Recognizing that right now she can't provide the stability that a dog needs must have been a terribly difficult conclusion to come to, but she's putting Ollie's well being first. Speaking as a PERSON who was once adopted, I can say that even though I'm sure it's painful, she is doing a good thing.
It makes me really sad that you have to talk about something that clearly makes you so upset. You are absolutely entitled to a private life. Sharing a little bit of your life with us online doesn't mean we're automatically entitled to every detail and every aspect of you. I know I'm just a stranger on the internet so this may not mean much, but in no way am I disappointed or upset or angry with you. I have all the confidence in the world in you and I trust your decisions. I know everything you do comes from a place of love and I commend you for making the right decision even if it was the hardest. You are so strong and I'm sending you allllll my love in this hard time. I know Ollie will find an amazing home and everything will work out in the end. I'm so sorry you are going through this, Hannah.
It sucks you had to make this, and sucks you have to give up Ollie. I've been there; it's such a difficult decision to make and really, truly hurts. Tbh I'm not so sure I would've been able to be as polite as you if I had to post this; I admire the way you handle difficult situations such as this, as I'm sure most of your community does. Hope you're able to enjoy the remainder of your trip, Hannah!
I'm going to miss seeing Ollie in videos but you're being such a good person Hannah! As hard as it is, you want what is best for Ollie because you love her.
Oh Hannah. It is ok. It IS the right decision. I'm sorry that you felt you had to talk about this publicly. I can't imagine criticizing you for taking care of Ollie. Before you said what you had to say, I felt like you were actually here, and I said, out loud "Oh Hannah, what's wrong?" My daughter thinks I am nuts. But you have my support, and, I am sure, the support of many others. Take care, sweet girl. It will be ok. I promise.
+medfailure I cried at the video, too. It's so hard to give up something you love, even though you know it's the right decision. And I can't believe people would criticize her for this. We all know that Hannah is a genuine, caring person, and only wants to do good.
+Marlissa Cunningham You know what I like about tumblr, though? You only have to see content from the people you follow. So it it can be as evil or as heavenly as you want it to be. Unlike on youtube, where you see everyone's negative comments.
Hannah, I literally started clapping when you said "i'll go into more detail about this *when I want to*" because I was just so damn proud that you said that. You tell us when you want to or not at all because your private life is your *private* life and we have no right to invade it if you don't want us knowing.
Look your job as a "parent" is to see that she lives a happy and healthy life. That's what it seems You are doing and I am proud of you . I'm proud of you not only for putting her needs above your own wants but for being so patient with that portion of your "fan base" which might be a little bit more... well call it what it is some of them are nutters. Thank you for being so candid and for being a good role model.
Life. It sometimes suuuux. We give it our all because that's all we can give. Kudos to you, Hannah, for making such a painful decision (I've been there). Sorry you had to address it publicly before you were ready (or at all for that matter). *GROUP HUG*
Hannah I'm so sorry 😢 I can tell through your videos how much Ollie means to you and I couldn't imagine what pain you're going through. Just always know your real Hartos will always be there to support you with everything you do. I know you'll find Ollie a good home but I'm so sorry for the pain this is causing you. I love you and I hope you'll be OK.
You are doing the right thing, Hannah. I have grown up with pets my entire life, some we had to put up for adoption, and others lost from sickness... regardless of how they exit your life, it's never easy because they very quickly become family. But recognizing that someone else can give her a more stable life suitable for her needs is extremely selfless of you, and Ollie will be forever grateful for her time with you and your hard work in finding her forever home. If anything, maybe you can have your manager or a close friend do "prescreenings" to weed out people who are selfishly applying just to meet you. I hope you get through this hard time and stay positive. Remember, practice reckless optimism! We love you.
You poor precious cinnamon bun! I'm so sorry you felt forced into making this video. This is painful to watch; It's a painful time for you, and now your channel and (some) fans that normally bring you joy has to be a point of anguish as well. You are obviously making the right choice, because no one else is living your life but you: no one truly knows what's going on, but you. Everything will work out in time.
People think they're just sharing their opinions and that since they have a thought in their head or a feeling in their gut that they're entitled to share it matter the consequence. They no longer realize that what they are doing has an effect on others. They don't realize it's harassment, because they see other people doing it, and they encourage each other to harass and bully. Internet mob justice is out of control. They need to remember that they're talking to a real human being. They need to stop and think for a moment: "would I say this to this person if they were right in front of me right this moment?"
How lucky someone else is to experience the love and joy that Ollie emits! The easiest decision is rarely the best one, you're so strong for making the decision as to what's right for everyone (be it animals or humans) involved. Your love for Ollie was so clear to everyone that watched your videos and such, she's only going to bring all of that love to a new family that is in a better position to care for her as much as I'm sure you want to.
How anyone could judge you for making an adult decision that benefits the welfare of a living being is beyond me. Ten years ago, I had to make a major move from one city to another and could not take my pets with me. It was one of the most difficult decisions of my adult life and one that still makes me tear up to this day. Giving our furry friends a stable life and not constantly having to board them or have a pet-sitter all of the time is one of the most humane things you can do. Hats off to you for making the difficult/right choice instead of the easy/selfish choice.
Hannah please don't feel like you have to share if you don't want to I am 100% sure that you've made the right decision keep smiling and know that she will find a loving home because you wouldn't allow her into anything less that a happy caring family
Hey Hannah, I'm so sorry that some people have been criticizing you for something as personal as this. As much as I know you love your community, I'm sure it must be hard to have your life constantly analyzed and looked at. So thank you so much for sticking with us, we do love you.
I am sorry Hannah.....your many feelings made my heart ache....you need all of the hugs. You are The only one on this very planet who can say what is best for your dog, period.
Oh dear kind Hannah, you made the right decision. It is the best for Ollie's well being, you are really an adventurer/traveler, and this hard but good decision shows that you are also a very responsible dog (mommy) owner. It breaks my heart to see how deeply you are wounded by this. You did nothing wrong, I hope that you can enjoying your holiday to the fullest. Love&Support :)
Damn this sucks. I'm sorry you are in this situation. I'm sure any family would love to have Ollie and that you'll find the right home for her. Sending my thoughts and love your way 💜
Oh Hannah, Im sorry that there is all this extra weight from people who can't keep there nose out of their own business, on something we know is weighing heavy on your heart and its easy. I know that you can understand that it" comes with the territory" of a public figure, but its not fair and it sucks that you have to deal with the added pressure. I know that you will find Ollie a great home. Im hoping that people listen to your wishes about not applying for him just because he's your dog. I had to do something similar with my beautiful great dane. he bit my son. It wasn't a fun situation to be in, but we made the right one. You are doing the right thing and everything will work out. But most of us are positive and understanding, people can take their judgment elsewhere.
+Nanako her fur baby. It sucks because I've been there and it's not easy. And she is not the type of person to take things like this lightly. I feel bad for all the people out there giving her shit and trying to take him just because he is her dog and what a crappy fan to spread that link. How they find it I don't know but creep. They were probably a little kid who can't think about the consequences of their action. I hope so actually. I hope no adult "fan" did that.
Breaks my heart to see Hannah sad. every time. I don't think a more real person exists than Hannah Hart on UA-cam, no offence to other UA-camrs. She is so real.
please don't beat yourself up about this. what you are doing is very unselfish and mature. it sucks yes because you love her but you are also doing what you think is the right thing because you love her. the reason why I watch you is because you are love personified.
Hannah, WHAT happened?? You seem legit in pain and im soo sorry this is going on. You clearly have a huge heart and it makes me upset on your behalf that anyone would disrupt your life in a deep personal way like that. Long distance bear hug. Love your guts.
UA-cam got way to personal. Most of the UA-camrs don't have a personal live anymore and it sucks. I'm very sorry for what's happening Hannah. All the love and support from me
God this must suck so hard for her. It's bad enough having to give up your dog, let alone deal with a bunch of ppl questioning and judging you publicly. Thank you for sharing this. Hang in there Hannah
From the moment I saw on twitter that you had put Ollie up for adoption, my thoughts went to how the fact that this was 'leaked' must have messed with your holiday and your general happiness, and I'm so sad to see that you had to make a video to make people stop talking to/about you :( I reallyreallyreally hope you feel better soon and I'm absolutely positive you handled this awful situation in the absolute best way possible and, basically, you rock and the world sucks.
This video was very heartbreaking for me to watch. I saw the pain and struggle for you Hannah to not get emotional , while the topic was a very emotional one. Hearing that someone exploited something very private about you makes me extremely angry and sad. Goddamnit the privacy of public figures like you Hanna is non of anyones god damn business. Time heals wounds. I sent you all the love and light that the universe has to offer and wish you a wonderful lovely stay in England. Lots of love from Germany !!!
You are a brave woman, Hannah. Putting someone's well being (even a pet's) before your own feelings is hard and sometimes painful. You are so wise and brave to put Ollie's well being first. ❤️
Oh Hannah I am so sorry, not only for your situation but also because you had to film this. Bums me out that you have to make videos like this, especially when you're clearly upset about what you're going through. You ARE doing the right thing! Because whatever you feel like is best in your heart is going to be the right decision. Keep your chin up, never feel like you have to justify your actions and good luck finding some really awesome, loving people for your pup! xo
You are showing an extreme amount of maturity about Ollie. You love that dog. We all know this. But you are doing what is best for Ollie and not yourself. That is the BEST kind of pet parent you can be. I've also had to go through this. Life changes. I'm sure there is someone genuine, like yourself, who will adopt her. People can be harsh about things they don't understand or people they don't actually know. You are a good spirit. It'll all work out.
This video broke my heart. This situation so damn unfair and i wish you could have kept it private if that's what you really wanted. I'm sorry on behalf of the jerks and the the general universe about this. You deserve only the best because you brighten so many other people's days and therefore lives, including my own. This fucking sucks and i would do almost anything to make it better if that was possible. Instead and in the meantime, I support you, and I'm certain so many others do and will too. Have a great day (hugs and kisses).
I just want to hug you!!! surround yourself with your loved ones during this hard transition. please take all the time you need for processing and healing. love love love!
So much love to you. I hate that someone found this and exploited it. I know you're doing the right thing for yourself and for your dog. Don't let the ignorance of the Internet who knows nothing of your personal life drag you down. xo.
Years ago my family adopted a dog from a couple that loved her very much but traveled a lot. They wanted to find a more stable home for her because it wasn't fair to the dog. That dog was the best dog I have ever had and she was very loved and well taken care of by us. If you feel that giving Ollie up for adoption is the best path then trust yourself :) There are good people and families that will love her just as much as we loved our dog. I'm sorry you had to talk about this sooner than you wanted to.
You're making the right choice Hannah, what's best for you and for Ollie. And it's not an easy one, but the right things to do in life often aren't. *hugs*
"You don't get the dog you want, you get the dog you need." (Caesar Milan) You got Ollie when you needed him. And now he can fill someone else's need. Your priority is what's best for Ollie. A lesser person would have different priorities. :-) ...there'll be another "Ollie" when the time is right.
I just adopted my dog Malu a month ago from a friend who has started school full time. She also wanted what was best for him. ...And long story short, he is just the dog I need right now. Gotta love it when that happens!
It sucks that you have to feel so obliged to explain everything. You're 100% allowed to do whatever you want and to keep whatever you want private. Unfortunately people feel the need to discuss YOUR life decisions. But just so you know, you real fans love and support you no matter what :)
I'm sorry that people feel the need to make judgments about a situation they have little or no real knowledge about. I am confident that you are making the right decision and that you will find Ollie a good home.
Love to you on a tough thing. Your love and respect for that dog despite how hard it is just shows the amazing heart you have. Know that there are still a lot of us who love and support you
I hate that Hannah feels like she HAS to explain herself. I mean good on her for doing so, but please don't feel that we as fans should dictate your life in future because I worry that you could end up with a life which you don't feel "you" in? Just passing thoughts. Sending love and good feelings your way Hannah, if it's what you feel is right, then it's the right thing. Xx
I didn't even know about this until now and I wish you didn't have to make a video like this if you really weren't ready to talk about it, you deserve that much. but I'm sending love, and positivity that everything is gonna work out cause it will. love you harto! ❤
Oh, Hannah. My heart is breaking for you. I think we all know that you wouldn't be doing this if it weren't for Ollie's well being. You want what's best for your baby! I, and hopefully others, can completely understand and relate to that. You are such a kind and beautiful person and my thoughts are with you during this time. You don't owe us an explanation. You know what you have to do. I wish you the best with everything.
That's sad that people can't let you live a personal life just because you entertain he public as a career. I don't follow UA-camrs honestly, so this is the first I'm hearing about your dog and I'm incredibly sorry, but also incredibly proud that you are strong enough to put her first. With that being said, I think the best home for her would be one with a family that doesn't know you. Someone who's never heard of Hannah Hart or My Drunk Kitchen. Maybe even someone who doesn't watch UA-cam at all. Maybe then it would be a genuine home for Ollie. Best of luck to you and prayers for peace and sanity.
Hannah, I am so sorry that 1. You've had to go through the process of making this difficult and painful decision and 2. That you were forced to publicly share it before you were ready. I can only imagine how hard it must be. I know my opinion on your decision doesn't matter and quite frankly, your opinion is the only one that matters, but in case you need some comfort, I think you've made a very wise, difficult and RIGHT decision. Obviously, I don't fully know the situation, but I do know that you love your dog and trust that you put a lot of time and thought into this decision and trust that it's the right one for your and your pup. Again, I'm so sorry you are going through this and I fully support you in whatever it is you do. I love how witty and strong you are. You are such a role model to so many of us, Hannah. Thinking of you during this difficult time!
Honestly, if people are being judgy about you trying to give oli a better life, it's only because they are ignorant. Hannah is busy as hell, and obviously she loves oli, that's why she is letting her go. Don't make this harder for Hannah... It's never easy to let a loved one go....
This is the most heart wrenching thing I have ever seen. You can see in her saddness and nervousness she tugged her ear till it was red. Some people are just awful and need to keep to themselves. I love you Hannah!
Hannah, you do what's right for Ollie and for you. The fact that you want to provide a stable and happy life for Ollie means that you are looking beyond yourself. Please stop beating yourself up. Some people are stupid and judgemental. And you're better than that. Don't feel you have to justify anything you have to do! Hugs!!! Xx
I...had...absolutely no idea any of this was happening. Wow. I'm so sorry, Hannah; for having to make such a difficult decision in both putting Ollie up for adoption and now needing to address it publicly, as well as I feel a need to apologize for the general shittiness of those who can't respect personal space. I really hope it's just a really vocal 1%, versus the vast majority of those who are respectful and kindhearted. I don't know what else to say, other than that my thoughts are with you. I'm sorry you're having a rough time and I'm sorry it's in part because of some people in the community. Keep your chin up, even though it's hard. Much love, and all the best. xx.
It frustrates me that she had to make a video about this. Like why can't people just stay out of her personal business?! If she wants to say something about it, then she will, but emotional situations like this are no time to be haggling her for information. Actually, she shouldn't be haggled about ANYTHING regarding her personal life. Just because she gives us glimpses of her life doesn't mean that we have a right to her personal information. And this video was just painful to watch because you can tell how sad she is about this. Hannah, if you happen to read this out of the large amount of comments that this video is sure to receive, ignore those who are jumping on you about this and take care of the situation how you need to. You're doing the right thing. We all love you and want you to live your life the way that's right for YOU. So please feel better and take the time you need to process everything. I'm sending so many virtual hugs your way!
You know what is best for her. We (for the most part) know that you're not doing it because it is too hard for you. What you are doing is so brave and courageous and I support you all the way. I wish you the best luck in finding a wonderful home for ollie. Xxx
I've always admired Hannah, I don't know where she stands on a political spectrum but she's always come across like a genuinely good person, very insightful, wise and good with reasoning. I feel bad that she feels this way, and it's certain elements of the fanbase that are the cause of this. A lot of people are saying it was a tumblr user (no fucking surprise there) and then a twitter stalker mob of some sort. And to be honest it just sucks. In this moment Hannah is/was deciding between what is best for her and what is best for Ollie. Notice how there's only two parties i mentioned, it just sucks that people felt the need to get involved. I feel like going on a rant about tumblr because it breeds the most narcissistic egotistical self-entitled types of people but I'll leave it at that. This whole thing just sucks a lot and I know that it comes with being a public figure but you would expect people that follow Hannah not to do things like this.
You're wrong it was an Instagram user and I already apologized and go ahead tell me to go to hell for my stupid mistake. Everyone else has. It was not for attention it was just stupid and ignorant. I know what tumblr user they're blaming and PLEASE STOP SHE DIDNT DO IT I DID PUNISH ME NOT HER GODDAMNIT -Princess Hartbig pleading guilty as charged
I don't really wish any ill will to you (if it was you, or you're a supporter of the person or whatever). Regardless of who it was, it's clear this manifested itself from a certain type of following, and those that got involved also share similar characteristics. It's no fault of their own but the culture they're part of. As I said, I wouldn't expect this from this particular fanbase, I'm just expressing disappointment rather than a call to arms. Please don't assume you know my motives for speaking out unless I explicitly mention it. Seeing as you did though, I don't suspect it was you. Take your sense of being a martyr somewhere else please.
+helko1 no I assume that because of the hell that filled my DM box yesterday to the point I refuse to open DM ever again. I'm not a martyr, but I see how you think that. This didn't start as a ploy for attention like you want to believe to justify your apparent views against tumblr. It began as a conversation between 6 13-19 year olds about a dog that escaped onto the Internet and then escalated. Sorry to burst your bubble with honesty
Sophia Clark You're not disproving my point at all and nowhere did I mention attention seeking at all. You seem to be projecting. You receive death threats and assume that everyone against this action has the same view of wanting you dead. You literally reworded your point yet still made the assumption of my view based on what you've seen in your DM. Like I said, do not assume my motives. I don't want anyone dead or to burn or whatever stupid illogical emotional response you can think off. Regardless '6 13-19 year olds' having a conversation about a situation that does not really concern them at all further cements my case of tumblr breeding the most narcissistic egotistical self entitled types of people. The bubble never existed, it was a truth which you are a part off yet still try to deny despite your your actions mirroring said characteristics I mentioned.
Baby! Don't let it get to you! I can't imagine how life in the spotlights must be, but you're a human being. A human being with a life. A life which should be of yours and yours alone. I don't know you, but get this feeling from your videos. The feeling is that you're a nice and decent person, trying to do the best you can at life. (And you're sharing it with the world too!) Keep that in mind when you get judged, or rushed, or whatever. You know you make the best decisions you can, don't let anyone make you think otherwise. Don't let them rule your life. You know how to live your life best. They just need to look at themselves. I love what you do. And I love what I get to see from you as a person. Keep loving yourself and don't let yourself get confused by others. This must be so frustrating!?!?!! Even I feel it writing this. Lots of love, Marieke
This makes me really angry and so...just sad. I'm sorry that you are going through this, Hannah. It's hard enough making a decision like that in private let alone having it blasted all over the internet to be judged and commented on and picked apart. It's just baffling to me that people feel entitled to the most intimate and private moments of your life. That isn't fair. I hope you can take even just a little bit of comfort in the fact that there are far more of us who support you and who would never judge you on your personal life than there are heartless dickbags who brought this upon you. We know how much you love Ollie and all that love will translate into finding her the absolute perfect home. I know you wouldn't settle for anything less. Love.
Realizing that you are not in a place where you can give Ollie all the care she deserves and finding the best home for her is a brave and tough decision to make. I have a deeper respect for you and know that you have my support as well as the thousands of others who love you.
Hannah, I'm so sorry that someone thought it was okay to publicly share something that you hadn't told us yet. You tell us everything you can & they should've know that since you hadn't talked about it, that it was private. & putting a pet up for adoption is more than just giving away an animal. It's like loosing a family member & best friend. It's a very hard & emotional thing to do. You have to be strong through it & I know you are. But this had to be so painful to hear from people as having to give Ollie away is painful enough. How can someone not see that this is obviously a hard thing for you or anyone to do? & now you're being forced to talk about it? It's horrible. Some people have no common sense or decency to respect someone's privacy. I'm so sorry that you have to go through this publicly as I'm sure it was hard enough to do it by yourself. Please, Hannah, take your time. Don't try to explain to us soon or even at all. This video was more than enough of an explanation.
Just know that we all love you so much and if there's anything you need us to do, we will. Always remember to take sometime to yourself, Hannah. Whenever you need it. We'll still be here supporting you in all you do when you get back. Love you, Harto.
+IttBeeMee that wouldn't be the right thing to do. This video does speak pretty directly towards the person who started it, but she doesn't mention any names. If they're a fan, they're watching this and they should know that they hurt her feelings. And anyone who shared it on tumblr should know they weren't helping the situation.
+IttBeeMee Does she have a tumblr stalker or something? How could anyone know about this and possibly "leak" it? I feel so sorry for Hannah.. man.. ;____;
I was kidding she definitely shouldn't tag and drag. Tumbler users think there is no limit with people's privacy. Everyone up there is really nosy so they find out everything before they should
+Frida B Hannah put Ollie up for adoption on the website Petfinder and someone found the posting and shared it with others. The posting has since been taken down.
What on earth? This video has made me sad, not just for the fact you felt you had to address this Hannah..but because it's none of our fucking business. You're on holiday, should be enjoying your time away and instead you've felt the need to do this video. I feel bad and I've not contributed to the debate. I'm sure I'm not alone when I say this, but I was disgusted at some of the things said. People who watch youtubers seem to forget that you're not perfect, you're a human and things happen. Also, that just because someone makes UA-cam videos doesn't mean members of that community deserve answers to everything about aspects of their lives. I've seen this a lot lately with other people I watch. We cannot judge you when we don't know your life outside of UA-cam or the reasons behind such things happening and when you promote no judging, you'd think our community would be better..especially when the things being commented on are not fact, they were purely speculation and none of our business, like I previously said. I know you probably won't even see this, but I just want you to know that I never for one second thought anything bad, you only ever convey understanding, empathy and kindness. I'm sorry you didn't get that off people on this occasion xx
exactly the childishness has to stop like seriously who are they to direct the lives of other people. Hannah says "I made this because I have to ' no she doesn't have to do anything ! she should have made one saying f all of you and mind your freaking business!
Does putting up a dog for adoption mean something bad to Americans? I don't understand why people would care. Reminds me of the time when people broke into the O2L house and ripped it apart, idk celebrity culture vs youtube celebrity culture is very different, like celebrities get privacy
+SkyFighter Productions A lot of people get butt hurt about how animals aren't treated fairly and if someone adopts a pet it should be FOR LIFE! A lot of adoption places advertise with phrases like "help this animal find it's forever home" and similar shit. People sometimes don't realize that re-homing a pet is usually the better decision than letting the animal suffer. I'm sure Hannah is getting a lot of "You shouldn't have gotten a dog if you were just going to turn around and give it up" but those people are ass holes.
+SkyFighter Productions I'm from the U.S, and I always had a dog in my house growing up. From my experience, many Americans think it is bad to give a pet up for adoption. Pet owners want a stable, loving environment for their pets, and part of that stability means not jumping from house to house. There's a huge fear of the pet being stuck in a bad/abusive household, too. Also, it is so damn hard to let a pet go. I do not know if you have ever had a pet die, but I have, and it was terrible for me. Giving up a pet for adoption feels a lot like going through death; it is a loss after all. For me and many others, a pet isn't just a pet. It's family. I just wanted to answer the question about why adoptions seem bad to Americans. But, to be clear, I am not critical of Hannah at all for this. There are unforeseen situations in which a pet owner sometimes has to make tough decisions for the best of their family. She is clearly struggling with this, and my thoughts are with her through this tough time. I think this should have been HER private situation to deal with; there is a reason she did not want to tell us. Loss takes time to process.
It's just that people care for animals more than eachother because animals love you no matter what. Idk how to describe it. Sometimes people get attached to their pets because they love them more than people and that's okay. I had to give my puppy away because I couldn't afford a puppy and I cried. Even my mom cried and she dislikes animals. So basically pets are like babies. You get emotional with them if you have to give them away.
+Jesse James Thanks for sharing your story. I never realised how bad it is for the owner to let go of a pet that is family member. In Australia everyone's pretty chill with pets and our adoption and animal welfare places are really positive
+SkyFighter Productions There is a LOT of bad things that go on when people relinquish pets. Now, Hannah is trying to personally find a great home for her dog. Which, if you have to, is absolutely what you should do. But a lot of people treat animals like trash here in America. They throw them in a pound where they're euthanized in less than a week because everything is overflowing with unwanted animals. Or they give them away to someone, and they get used as bait for fighting animals. A lot of people give up animals not because it's a heart-wrenching decision, but because it's "convenient" and they got bored of it, or it's not cute anymore, or it peed in the house, or it costs money to have an animal and they didn't think that through before they got the thing...those people create this cloud of "anyone who gets rid of an animal must be a bad person" that seems to overshadow even those who legitimately feel they have no other option (or no other option that's BEST for the animal). I have two rescues, and one of them was abused and neglected from birth. She still has issues with being properly potty trained. She has a crooked jaw from where her owner broke it and never set it. She fears men. Her is all gappy from all the knots they cut out. She's skittish.....it's all too common to see in dogs. Her owners just left her in a pen in the back yard with her mom and two sisters...for two and a half years...never did anything for them. I think they fed them occasionally, but they weren't socialized, weren't played with, weren't petted, weren't brushed, weren't vetted, and it's clear from the way she behaves that they were beaten if they barked. So I think a lot of that goes into the mentality that someone is "bad" for rehoming a pet. They aren't necessarily bad, but too many people just do it flippantly and without any care for what's going to happen to the animal. And that is bad.
Well, Hannah, wish you all your concentrated strength and optimism you've got, which you've always shared with us, in such tough times. We're all on your side. Right is always better than easy, I believe in this with all my heart.
You're doing the right thing, Hannah. I hope Ollie will find a home as good as you have given her 💗
This should be a lesson to everyone to give people their privacy. It's heartbreaking that Hannah had to make this video because people couldn't leave well enough alone. I hope she knows that the majority of her audience loves and supports her regardless of tough decisions.
well said
+Sarah Pittman let's not get carried away.
Uuugggghhhh....You're great Hannah. This was a bad situation well-handled and I'm proud of you. Hug.
+AmeliaBell28 I love that. It looks like she could really use the hug right now :)
I would like to join that hug, because I can't find better words for that matter. Losijg a pet sucks, even if it is out of choice. But especially if one has to keep up with all the crap you need to deal with because you happen to be known by a few more people than the average human being.
I was about to say something similar but I couldn't really put it better. Just love and hugs in what sounds like a really hard patch.
Nothing to add to this. A big, warm hug to you Hannah! Making decisions is tough but I believe that you have made the right one ♡
+Joyce van der Heijden a big warm hug my eye!! more like a big SWIFT KICK in the booty!!!!
Perfectly put!!! 👌🏼
🙌👍
Yes!
+Kimberly Zoot Holmes Could not have said it any better. Hannah you know we love you!
Damn the actions of part of this fanbase is disappointing. Wishing you and Ollie the best, Hannah.
So much love for you Hannah, take all the time you need, hope you're okay xxx
As someone who fund-raises, advocates and all that jazz for animal adoption, the way you're going about this and what you're doing for Ollie is the best thing you can do. You're giving her her best possible chance and making sure personally that she goes to a family or a person who has the time for a dog and will love her as much as you do. I hope the adoption process goes smoothly and you find the perfect home for Ollie. I'm just sorry this has been brought up before you're ready for it to brought up. You don't owe anyone any answers or an explanation, you have Ollie's best interests at heart and that is all that matters.
Adopting Ol into a loving and stable homestead is not anything to be ashamed of! xo
I just wanna hug her :(
+Sparkclan dont we all??
hannah i hope you find ollie a good home, ik that there are lots of people who have the time and commitment for dogs and i hope everything goes well
*her
+Nardeen Faris i failed at basic grammar
No judgements here; only hugs, and love, and more hugs.
Dear Hannah
This is none of our business and I don't understand why people feel like it's necessary for you to put your life on display.
+Bridget Rao Well said and I totally agree.
Aditi R Thank you :)
+Bridget Rao I wish I could like this more than once
+Bridget Rao I'm so sad, I'm crying. Thank you, Bridget Rao for your words are my feels rn.
+dmndsol couldn't have said it better myself . Amen my fellow Hartosexual !
She is being responsible and selfless in doing this. I hope Ollie finds a great home. No judging. I love you, Hannah ❤
+Alxs I don't think I would've been polite either! Bless Hannah's patient heart.
Of course Hannah does what is best for Ollie, no matter how much it hurts her to do it. That's just what exceptional people like her do.
I promise.
+medfailure (she thinks I am nuts for talking to a video and crying)
+medfailure I cried at the video, too. It's so hard to give up something you love, even though you know it's the right decision. And I can't believe people would criticize her for this. We all know that Hannah is a genuine, caring person, and only wants to do good.
Hannah, you are such a heartbreakingly beautiful human. I hope the BEST person comes along to take care of Ollie and that you both are happy.
Where has she been getting hate? I haven't read any negative comments.
+rose i saw some fans on twtter saying there were really upset about this.
+rose I think it's mostly been on Twitter and Tumblr.
There's a lot of stuff on Instagram about it aswell
+prmgirl93 Tumblr...the root of most evil
Losing pets in any way is incredibly heartbreaking and I am so sorry.
You do so much traveling! and you love that dog so much, that putting her in a stable home is probably the best way you can express your love!
You're doing what's best for Ollie. You're doing the right thing.
That life must be exhausting. Sending all calmest nicest thoughts to Hannah and Ollie. x
Hannah please don't feel like you have to share if you don't want to I am 100% sure that you've made the right decision keep smiling and know that she will find a loving home because you wouldn't allow her into anything less that a happy caring family
Im sorry Hannah. Take care.
Out of other people's business*
+Nanako her fur baby. It sucks because I've been there and it's not easy. And she is not the type of person to take things like this lightly. I feel bad for all the people out there giving her shit and trying to take him just because he is her dog and what a crappy fan to spread that link. How they find it I don't know but creep. They were probably a little kid who can't think about the consequences of their action. I hope so actually. I hope no adult "fan" did that.
You are a wonderful person.
I'm glad you're making the right decision for Ollie.
All the love and support from me
Don't cry because it's over smile because it happened -Dr.Suess
I'd adopt Ollie in a heartbeat. Anything to help someone who has impacted my life in so many ways.
As a dog lover I feel your pain. I hope you find her a loving family xx
Love you hannah
This video broke my heart. This situation so damn unfair and i wish you could have kept it private if that's what you really wanted. I'm sorry on behalf of the jerks and the the general universe about this. You deserve only the best because you brighten so many other people's days and therefore lives, including my own. This fucking sucks and i would do almost anything to make it better if that was possible. Instead and in the meantime, I support you, and I'm certain so many others do and will too. Have a great day (hugs and kisses).
+Gen Price i'll give you all the space and privacy you need.
Vicky Hallam yeah, it sucks. I want to help
I love you Hannah. I hope olly gets a nice home and you can feel better soon. Sending tons of love.
I just want to hug you!!! surround yourself with your loved ones during this hard transition. please take all the time you need for processing and healing. love love love!
So much love to you. I hate that someone found this and exploited it. I know you're doing the right thing for yourself and for your dog. Don't let the ignorance of the Internet who knows nothing of your personal life drag you down. xo.
Hannah you're such a good person for doing the right thing for Ollie. Some fans jus get carried away and loose their heads❤
Much love and many hugs to you Hannah!
*hugs*
You're doing the right thing!
"You don't get the dog you want, you get the dog you need."
(Caesar Milan)
You got Ollie when you needed him. And now he can fill someone else's need.
Your priority is what's best for Ollie. A lesser person would have different priorities. :-)
...there'll be another "Ollie" when the time is right.
Know that there are still a lot of us who love and support you
I know someone who stayed in contact with the person who adopted their dog and visited it on occasion, so that could be an option for you xx
Thats sucks that you have to give ollie up, love to adopt her but the timing for me is not good. Hope she gets a good family.
Much love, and all the best. xx.
weird that this is such a big deal for other people
It frustrates me that she had to make a video about this.
Xxx
Miss this person and hope she is well and healing. ❤
I know what tumblr user they're blaming and PLEASE STOP SHE DIDNT DO IT I DID PUNISH ME NOT HER GODDAMNIT
-Princess Hartbig pleading guilty as charged
+Sophia Clark if I could undo all of this I would
Sophia Clark You're not disproving my point at all and nowhere did I mention attention seeking at all.
Oh, and hugs for you for losing a dear friend.
Love.
You are a kind and gentle woman, Hannah. Hugs for you and belly rubs for Ollie.
Really disappointed in this fandom. We need to give Hannah space and let her tell us things when see feels comfortable.
Or not at all. Sense it's not really our business. We don't need every detail of her life.
You should call the tumblr user out that started all this mess. As Tyler Oakley would say tag and drag
+IttBeeMee Does she have a tumblr stalker or something? How could anyone know about this and possibly "leak" it? I feel so sorry for Hannah.. man.. ;____;
I was kidding she definitely shouldn't tag and drag. Tumbler users think there is no limit with people's privacy. Everyone up there is really nosy so they find out everything before they should
+Frida B Hannah put Ollie up for adoption on the website Petfinder and someone found the posting and shared it with others. The posting has since been taken down.
Can you tell me what exactly happened? Because I am so confused and I haven't been keeping up with things like this lately
I hope Ollie finds a home as loving as you are Hannah, I wish you both the best💚
I hope you find Ollie a wonderful home with people who really love her (:
Stay strong, Hannah
I agree!
Well said.
+Sofia Jayne I agree, too. Well said!
I completely agree! you do you Hannah! thank you for everything you do
exactly the childishness has to stop like seriously who are they to direct the lives of other people. Hannah says "I made this because I have to ' no she doesn't have to do anything ! she should have made one saying f all of you and mind your freaking business!
Sounds like some people need to learn to mind their own business. I'm sorry you have to make this choice Hannah. I'm sure Ollie will find a good home.
You are so beautiful and strong Hannah, you're doing what you think is right for Ollie and that's a wonderful thing. Don't beat yourself up. Love you.
