Sanitation in the city - Youth group intervenes to provide public toilet in Donholm Estate

Access to public toilets is important in contributing to the health and well-being of society. The world celebrates international toilet day on 19th November each year to signify this vital role that public toilets play in creating sustainable, accessible, and inclusive cities. In Nairobi’s surrounding neighborhoods, the provision of public toilets by local authorities is largely ignored. Some of the worst affected people as a result of this neglect are the informal traders running small roadside businesses in the city’s estates. In one of these neighborhoods, a local youth group focusing on environmental issues is intervening to assist their community.
