This was an AMAZING tutorial, IMO. Have the zero offset box wrench set. About to give it a go. Thanks for taking the time, with explaining and diagramming the belt path. Update: the instructions were top notch. Very clear on what to do. I’ve purchased 2 belts, that were “replacements” were a 2012 Hyundai Sonata 2.4L. Neither worked. And trust me when I say I tried, for hours. I thought it was something I may have been doing wrong. I would HIGHLY suggest purchasing an OEM replacement from Hyundai. That’s my next option/course of action.
Thank you very much for the kind words DavidLeeKnows! I'm glad this video could help. I agree about using the OEM belt. Let me know how it goes when all is done. Cheers!
Thank you for the video and especially emphasizing the need for the zero offset wrench. Tried doing the job this morning with the many existing tools I own. However was a no go after a few hours. Although I could have gotten the belt loose with my deep offset wrench, the force of the tensioner traps the wrench in place against the A/C line. Going to order the wrench set and give it another go once I receive them.
Great video, only one suggestion , when you check to see if belt is on right on pulleys use bare hands , no gloves, this gives you better tactile feedback.
Hey Everyone! How many of you have had a hard time trying to change out your drive belt or serpentine belt and it took up more time than you expected? I noticed that when I use a zero offset box wrench that it makes changing the drive belt super easy and quick. Let me know in the comments what tool or tools have worked best for you. I'd love to hear your techniques and methods. Cheers!
The wrench really helped. I spent three hours trying to put belt on top idler last and continually failed, the key was putting belt on the Compressor last. Took 10 minutes after watching your video. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.

Great Video. I just did it. You are right 17 mm zero offset wrench is a must. Few things I did differently; I did not see that relocating the expansion reservoir and cooling line bracket holding screw will make it any difference, so I left it in place. I also found it more convenient to finish wrapping the belt on water pump pulley instead of the compressor, it is higher and more visible. It may be a matter of preference. I never lift the car it stayed on the ground at all times. My car is a 2012 Hyundai Sonata Limite. Time spend; 35 minutes. Thank you.
I just got the set of wrenches and the 17mm x 14mm end is too long to have the wrench sit low like you show in the video, there’s two thin gray pipes in the way, any tips?
Hello Jacobo Escobar, I believe there might be a bracket holding the two gray pipes. This might give you enough room to get past the pipes. Please check with your local certified Hyundai mechanic to confirm this. Happy wrenching!
Great Video! I've tried getting to that tensioner with several different tools; low profile sockets, a number of different wrenches. None of them fit! The only issue is that the Amazon link is for a set of 6 wrenches that cost $100. Trying to find just the 17mm wrench as I don't need the others.
Hello Andy Bech! Thank you for the kind words! I know what you mean. The best place to search is ebay. Every once in a while a Snap On 17mm zero offset box wrench will show up. Best of luck to you!

Not going to be two minutes for people who never done it before. As a retired corporate trainer, the man did the video very well , he hit all bullet points and explained everything well. He may not had said the size but he showed it plenty of times, clearly showing 17 mm.

Can I use the 17mm x 19mm 407mm length or only the 14mm x 17mm 368mm length genius tools zero offset box wrench? Will the 17mm x 19mm 407mm length fit?
