    love your videos Al. Your videos with Zach helped me get backside grinds back. However I broke my wrist at a park on Sunday and had surgery today, im so bummed right now. Have you had any serious injuries? Any ideas on how to deal with being down for so long?

    • @BigAlSkateTutorials
      @BigAlSkateTutorials  3 роки тому +3

      Thank you David, appreciate that! Really trying to get something going! Sorry to hear that, sending positivity your way. I work full time in a hospital as a medical imager I specialize in MRI. So with what I know about wrist injuries or breaks in joints is you gotta take some time to let the fracture in the bone heal, it’s crucial to make sure it’s fully healed before jumping straight back into it. I’ve had shoulder surgeries and broken ulna and radius. When I was injured some things that helped me was staying busy, which also made time go by quicker. After the few days of resting I would slowly get back on your feet maybe do a little stretching or go for a walk something to keep the legs moving. If you end up in a cast you’ll be a lot more mobile vs a sling so then eventually that walk can turn into a little skate or cruise around the block but nothing more. Again you don’t want to push it. Also follow any physical therapy you get that will help you the most in getting your strength back and preventing it from a re-break in the future. And as always watch skate videos old and new they will keep the imagination flowing and motivation there for when you get back on the board. Best of luck with everything.

      @davejs1671 3 роки тому +3

      @@BigAlSkateTutorials I greatly appreciate the positivity and you taking the time to respond. I will definitely follow your advice. I had a metal plate with collar bone surgery in April and luckily I healed extremely fast and gained 100% full range of motion back so I understand how important healing and rehab are. Again thank you. I mostly enjoy transition skating, especially big bowls. I love your skating and you have a style for days. You have my full support and I look forward to future videos from both you and Zach.

    • @BigAlSkateTutorials
      @BigAlSkateTutorials  3 роки тому +1

      @@davejs1671 That’s it, just gotta let heal, sometimes after things break (like bones especially) they come back stronger than before, but only if properly taken care of! No doubt, it does take time. But if your work your way up to it, it becomes easier over time, that’s why I feel like trying a hip first usually gives more of an idea how to grab and turn prior to just sending it on a flat wall. Hope that helps man. You got it!

      No doubt he is a legend, but everyone’s gotta start somewhere! I was the same way for the longest time, but over time I learned to tuck my back leg in as I bend down and grab the board. Something else that might help even though it sounds weird, but even just standing still on your board without it moving just practice bending down (by tucking back leg in) and grabbing around your back knee. Doing it over is muscle memory and you’ll get a good feel of the grab prior to just sending it on a ramp or quarter pipe. Hope it helps homie, good luck!
