I’ve had this for about a week. I put the titanium CIVIVI clip on it. Great knife . Can’t believe the quality and action for the price. Budget knife of the year for sure.
What screws did you use to attach it I was debating grabbing one for it
@@R0CK3DOUTI used the existing screws and it worked fine. The sets that came with the clip didn’t entirely match up and I wasn’t sure what to use. But the original screws worked just fine. I have the plain clip on the grey knife and it looks great. Good luck!
Just got mine in today. Wow what a knife. Money well spent. Got the red and black, beautiful knife.
Own this version. Definitely agree that this is the best button lock atm. Perfect button lock with no stick out the bag. Love the action and size. And personally like the beaded finish without any texturing. I'd pay that little extra on a slightly better blade steel.
Literally just got this knife, thanks to many other reviews, but I LOVE IT!!!!! I chose it over the CJRB Large Pyrite (which I still plan to buy). I have the blue scales. It's soooo light but soooo practical! Ergos are perfect for my larger than average hands. I think I love it more than my Civivi Cogent. 😅😅😅
I love the plane look. The bevels are all I need. This is a winner for me. I ordered it
Love my Serene! Replaced my Mims for my EDC! 😊
I slightly filed the button hole and have had no problems since..
2023 budget knife of the year
*Kershaw Iridium
@@No1ANTAGON1STonly good Kershaw's are the American made ones. Their over sees stuff is hot garbage inferior steel and fit and finish . The American made stuff is a different story.
@@No1ANTAGON1ST I have an issue with D2. Whether real or imagined, it's there.
The competition for that title is going to be steep this year.
Pyrite?
#1 most recommendable knife.
I just paid for mine... Same colour combo as you said - looks like titanium. I like to mod my knives and flat sided handles like these are great templates for adding some simple overlays with high strength double-sided tape. You can try your hand at some shaped overlays made from scrap Micarta, G10, wood or bone / antler. Great fun. Change it out when your mood dictates.
I love budget knives. This is a beauty!
There are so many good, high-quality budgets that I'd rather replace those as they wear out than get tired of the same old $300 knife.
EDIT: I like the minimalist, non-textured look on knife scales. The Civivi and Sencut non-textured flat scales get two thumbs up from me. I agree with you on the clips.
I second the idea of milling the aluminum to add some texturing. I recently bought the civivi qubit, and it's a bit slick in the hand. It's also a tad small for me, so I just picked up the sencut Sachse with micarta. It's a better size, and I seem to favor the micarta texturing.
Got one and love it!
One of the ways of getting rid of plunge stick in Sencuts and Civivis is making sure the spring is aligned properly. Sadly, it requires either good coordination of both hands or using some tools like clamps. In liner-less knives it's even more painful. But once you get the spring aligned and centered, you have to push super hard to experience the plunge stick. If there is no stick from the beginning, it means the knife had it perfect from the beginning,
I just unboxed a green aluminum, black-coated blade Sencut Serene this morning & I'd like to add a couple of comments. It's a wonderfully made knife with a truly slicy blade, but I'm having 2 problems with it. I, too, have the plunge-lock button release problem, but I trust your assurance that it will work in (I've seen it before on button-lockers). However, my real problem is that, when the blade is closed, the détente that holds it closed is MUCH too strong. I have good hands & have no problem with any of my other thumb-stud or flippers. My Kenshaw Iridium that I picked up last month has action that is truly a joy to fidget with.
However, the Serene has a MUCH too strong détente holding the blade closed. I fail to fully open the knife almost half the times with the thumb-studs, often not even breaking the détente & leaving the knife closed with a sore thumb. Even flipping, if I don't get just the right angle on the flipper & do a perfect flip, the knife will only open about 80% of the way against the resistance of the closed-position détente & requires a bit of a wrist-flick to lock. It is also making my index finger as sore as my thumb has gotten - and I have good calluses on both fingers from decades of experience with folders & even more, finger-picking guitars all my life.
I'm considering returning this knife & ordering a replacement, just in case this is a one-off outlier. Your action seems slicker than an egg coming out of a loose goose, while I'm experiencing action even worse than my old Jesse Jarosz 7505 Ka-Bar monster that takes a good wrist flip when opening to lock it - though it doesn't have the tight locked-position détente of this knife. My new Kenshaw Iridium had slick-as-snot action right out of the box and is a joy to fidget with. This serene has given me a sore thumb & index finger in just an hour. I can't see, looking into the knife, that adjusting the pivot will have any effect on the deep détente of the closed-blade position. Even opening the knife 2-handed without any assist, I really have to pull on the blade with my other hand to break the blade free of the closed détente. The blade is perfectly centered when closed, so I don't want to do too much pivot adjustment anyway. Should I keep working this knife in hopes of wearing this détente in, or exchange it for a replacement? What do you think?
Great knife for the money, it can't be beat.
Like a sore wiener
The bit of the handle just in front of the button is very We Ziffius like. Very cool.
Got the Ziffius. It's the gem of my collection.
@@mikeh5967 Ditto. I'm not cool enough to own it, but sometimes I sneak a look at it and smile.
I’ve been hearing a lot of positivity regarding the Serene. Thank you for verifying the Serene’s fitness and quality.
Got the red aluminum and black blade frome Blade HQ. Awesome. I have not had the wear-in issue. Smooth as glass out of the box.
Well there's one I definitely need to check out. Thank you so much for the video. Really cool
I've been looking for days, probably will go with this one.
Nice review ! I’m hesitating to purchase between the serene and the cjrb pyrite. What’s your pick? Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
@3:47 - "Here's an issue that I find not to be an issue but some people say is, they don't like the bounce...that's more of a timing thing, more of an agility thing " - Metal Complex on Getting Good. 😂😂
I agree 100 % there shouldn't be
"plunge stick." But why do you test that w/o adding a bit of oil? I've always used a bit of KPL, Tuff-glide, etc, if the action wasn't great out of the box. Not just for button locks. Sometimes, I've taken apart and cleaned, lubed, and adjusted pivot to get the best knife. It can make the difference between a meh and an edc. Spending 10 seconds with a bit of oil shouldn't be an issue. Just sayin
I recently purchased that very model.
WE throws so much at us every month, they get one or two of the 25 “new” models right.
This is one I think is spot on.
I just got this same model, but couldn´t get the blade stuck by pressing the button lock really hard. I guess i´m lucky
I just bought the silver one with full intention of hitting up EDC gear house for a full renovation of this
I think they fixed the plunge stick issue. Cause no matter how hard I press mine I can't get it to do that.
CJRB or Sencut for button lock?? Looking to get my first one 🤙
I personally like the CJRB
Also, CJRB has a new version coming soon.
Edit: I forgot a out Petrified Fish is coming out with some button locks as well. I think the Grow is the name of the button local they just released
I think it's plunger overtravel. I can get my conspirator to do it, but i have to press exceptionally hard so it's not really an issue, but if you don't have to try force it to happen then I think it's an issue.
Qubit I got for my dad didn't really do it like yours was either thankfully.
Looks like the conspirator is now I'm budget piece territory
Unless you opt for the S35vn conspirator with aluminum handles. Which I do think is worth it.
Nitro V gets razor sharp without too much effort but rolls kinda easily.
🤓 I just want light weight handles. I don't give a S if it's aluminum vs titanium. Titanium is cool and some times it makes more sense, especially for frames locks but for a button or Axis lock the titanium is just going to add unnecessary expense to what is supposed to be a budget knife. I do stick my nose up to steel because it's ALAYS and ounce or two heavier at the very leasy. Steel is for blades and hardware not handles!
I think plain scales speak to everyone, even if they might be boring to some, whereas patterning is very subjective and can be off putting. As an example, I really want a Kizer Cormorant, but all the of the scale options are TERRIBLE in my eyes, so I won't buy one, whereas some people might love them. The Serene in plain grey calls to my wallet.
1 month later, my wallet spoke and now I have a grey Serene. Love it.
Thanks for sharing bud!👊🏻
I love this aluminum trim. Sencuts best since the sasche and watuga era.
Hi. I like the serene, sasche. I like also the cjrb pyrite. What would be your pick? Thanks for sharing.
Do it in that WE Zifius hawk blade shape variation and i shall purchase all of them.
Those got announced just yesterday!
@@cyphersuit1 for real?
@@No1ANTAGON1ST well the ziffius originally is a sencut design. So that already is buyable. Yesterday Civivi announced a variation called SENTINEL STRIKE. But the Sencut one is closer to the Ziffius.
@@cyphersuit1 I'm already familiar with the knife you're talking about. The sencut version isn't aluminum
@@No1ANTAGON1ST well the civivi variant is.
I think they fixed the button lock issue cause I can't get mine to do that no matter how hard I press.
I got one and I like it. Think if they did one in s35 or 14c28n with a titanium milled handle and titanium milled clip and thumb studs. I'd buy one. Nice knife for 50 bucks..just tired of d2 on all these budget bangers
I don't think button locks are largely plain just to save money. It's also because of Microtech's 'style', IMO. Auto or not, a lot of people (I think) want button locks to be like that.
awesome piece. specially for the price. 🔥
I'd love it if ud reach out to CiviWeCut and asked them if this was intentional. Because anytime I hand a non knife nerd a button lock they press the button completely and the blade always bounces back open. I get frustrated like how can you not do it right!? But they just can't. My Civivi Qubit was the first button lock knife that these guys have been able to close without the bounce back. I personally feel like there's a small learning curve on any button lock as far as timing goes so I could take it or leave it. I don't really have much of a preference either way. But I'm really curious to see if this was intentional in order to placate to the mass market or just a random byproduct of aluminum scales. Which seems weird to me cuz the Protech Malibu has aluminum scales and everyone seems to rave about its action.
Great knife for under $50. I got the one in blue.
Add some texturing. AMEN!!! Yes. Definitely!
Hey community... I got one of these but the detent is WAY too strong... can barely use the button lock. Any suggestions? Thanks!
It is scary how similar you and a guy on youtube that reviews sound equipment sound and act. Zeos i think is the name he goes by.
Review the Sencut Phantara 🤘🏻
Does it hold up against a SOG Tellus? Same price… but 440C…
Totally disagree with the hook on the clip. I really dislike clips that have an end that sticks right out in the air. That is, also right into your hand.
The aluminum handles peaked my interest 👌
Hi
Thank you for your review.
Also, in the future, please take measurements in metric millimeters, since you may be viewed by people from countries that have a *normal* measurement system.
America didn’t make the imperial system, we keep it because many things in America were made with the imperial system in mind.
@@ZestyMonkeYT at this point
The US does it because it’s too much effort to change it
That, and it would make too much sense to standardize measurements
Same reason why we still have daylights savings
Why the US is prioritizing Electric cars instead of railroads
And why Solar panels and wind farms take priority over Nuclear plants
See, it makes TOO much sense, and would make life TOO easy
Just got mine, Thumb flick and spidey flick seems impossible. Doesn’t seem normal. I have a Para 3 and 8 others and can’t seem to flick it. Anyone else seeing this problem?
For 50$ best knife!
Come on man, at this price point that’s kind of unreasonable. This is the cheap brand so for sub $50 I think milled scales is rly unreasonable. I mean there are tons of knives that cost 5x to even 10x that don’t have milled out scales
Most of his complaints against WeViviCut knives are unreasonable. lol he has to nitpick every model from either of the 3. He CANNOT resist it. Lol
Did metal complex have a stroke and turn into nick shabazz for a second? 11:55
To bad they didn't leave off the studs and add a usable finger choil, it would have been the poor man's pro-tech mordax!
Here's a thought, Make a Civivi version, add a finger choil, drop the studs, add a fuller like the velona, mill in a topographical pattern, 14c28n or nitro v. $79. I'd buy one right now.
I had to send my first Serene back because of the pivot screw not staying tight, a day in my pocket and I could turn it with my fingers. The replacement lasted about 3 days before the same thing would happen. Customer Service recommended to just use some threadlocker on it.
I just got the red and black version .and I think it competes with the Conspirator 1:42
Maybe it's just me but this looks like a button lock We Subjugator.
pyrite is an evergreen but this is not? different strokes i guess.
Sencut, you want to stand out? Make this knife bigger. A 4" plus blade and lose the thumb studs.
I like both the meat and the potatoes of this video.
I would really rather they just add $12 to the price and make the titanium bar clip their standard. It took me 2 days to snag something with my Elementum clip and it tore my pants and the clip got mangled.
Definitely not absolutely available still 😂
This fckg Knife Virus ... 47 years nothing ... and now about 9 Knifes in 6 month 😂
Bought the Serene today and have the CS SR-1 in my hand ... totally different, but great Budget Knifes .... best you can get for the Money 😬👍
Sencut is made in China. Not for me. 🙄
I said that in the review. You aren't teaching
@@metal_complex I understand that I just kind of get pissed off when I bought a Buck knife thinking it was made here in America the Buck 389 the little classic looking old-fashioned pocket folder. It said it was made in China. I lost respect for Buck at that point. From now on I always check to see where the knives are made now.
Your iPhone is made in China. The very thing used to complain about this.
Just buy what you like and ignore what you don't. The country of origin complaints don't affect anyone's decisions. It's a waste of energy
@@metal_complex I agree with that. As you said, many things are made in China so getting away with not buying anything from China is pretty much impossible. I try to buy American as much as I can but anyhow. It's a shame because I like the Sencut knives. I don't really have a problem with the Chinese people in general but many of them have been indoctrinated by the CCP and they pretty much hate America. I just really don't trust the quality of knives that they put out because they want us to lose anyway. Probably sending US hollow grind, styrofoam infused blades so we get annihilated. 😂 I wish it was funny but it really isn't. 🙁 I prefer American made knives but with the prices it's not always feasible. Sencut knives do look pretty nice and may be decent knives. Thank you for your channel and your informative videos. 😎✌️
This gives me Civivi conspirator vibes but better. I like it a lot lol
Pretty soon these button lock knives will just be a buttons placed on a compression lock 😁 Thank God patents end.
