If you hit the max quality level you can (for example you don't have epic unlocked yet, or for producing legendary parts later) you should use productivity modules in processes that make max quality parts.
@@jfryk No no not the final finished product the highest quality parts. Like electric engines can use productivity. But once you are making rare electric engines out of rare engines and rare green chips etc you cant get more quality out of the process but you can get productivity out of it.
Why are you using quality modules on the rare recipes? Since you haven't unlocked epic yet, there's no way for them to upgrade further. Should probably use productivity instead, unless that's meant as future-proofing.
Does machine quality chance only affect an output to the next level or all levels? From another channel and my own observations the first level of quality is based on machine, but the chance it goes even higher is 10%. Example: Crafting normal modules at 20% quality will yield 20% uncommon, and 10% of uncommons will be rares, 10% of rares will be epic, etc...
Putting quality modules the ones that make rare quality hurt my autism :P But that was a genius design. My design was clunky as fuck and required a little cleanup every once in a while xD
Looking forward to seeing Gleba. Personally, I'm using content creators as forward scouts 😅 . Been doing okay on Fulgora, but should have gone to Vulcanus first. That Foundry is a massive improvement to Holmium production. Currently struggling with just Assemblers mk2s (my first run, and I'm never gonna bother getting Rush to Space at a later time)
wait, can you really shift+right click into shift+left click for requester chests? Pls tell me thats new and I didnt spend the last 500h not doing that...
I think there is a bug somewhere with proc chance in quality. I was testing legendary T3 quality mods and rolled 300 speed items and got 299 common and 1 uncommon item from the three hundred rolles... My Main Space Age playthrough seems normal. its the creative testing save I have that refuses to roll anything. It's weird. Edit: Reloading save and rebuilding the unit seemed to fix the issue.
lol well look at you doing things the smart way. I just brute forced everything the moment it was unlocked. turns out if you make enough mech armors with quality modules in there, you will get a rare easy. same with the rest. it did take.. a few things lmao.
Normally love your designs, but the upcycling design I dislike. Not that it doesn't work atleast for now. Bots can solve anything. But it's rather unsatisfying. Dunno, I only just got to space, but I'm looking forward to doing it the other way round and allow for quality at all levels of production and then having that as seperate production lines. Probably gonna be a pain to get to be self regulating, but way more fun then just having bots and recyclers deal with it. Great series though, thanks for all the great info and build inspirations.
Sure, but the goal here is to just use the full highest quality (rare) to get the rare armor. There is no need for anything lower to reach that goal, so reinvesting the components (with recycled outputs) gets us to that goal sooner. I’m sure he’ll have a more comprehensive, non-“waste” version (probably belt-based) in the future when he wants to stockpile everything.
Almost ALL your entire Fulgora Quality setups will break when you unlock higher than rare quality. SOOO many of them you are building with the assumtion that it wont output higher than rare.....
@Nilaus, module crafting isn't the way to go, recycler with modules are broken as hell. You can use the recycler to make better quality tier 1 modules, not for the % chance, just because by its being a higher level, now its guarantee that scrap will be on that level, and you don't even need to have all modules as higher tier, just 1 will guarantee that. I'll explain the copper wire to copper plate, and then just replicate it to iron gears to iron plate. Make 1 assember 3 with 4 quality module level 1, on that assembly select copper cable recipe. Filter out the quality cables, for the normal cables, throw them into a recycler with 4 more normal tier 1 quality modules. From the output of the recycler, filter out the quality copper plate, and the normal copper plate just send back to craft more copper cables. Do the same for iron. For plastic, use quality module tier 1 into the chemical plants, filter out the quality plastic, the normal plastic, throw into a recycler with tier 1 quality module. Done, from the quality items you have left over, just craft a tier 1 uncommon quality module. For each tier 1 uncommon quality module you make, put then into a different machine, for that guarantee higher tier from any uncommon. Now just repeate for rare quality module tier 1. You get into epic tier for Iron Plate, Copper Plate, Plastic, from there just craft whatever you want with the epic raw resource itself What makes it broken is that guarantee level when recycling a higher tier, since the result can also jump in level. the ratio will be similar to having rare from a normal build but for epic, and making the tier 1 quality module epic, is much faster and cheaper then trying to get rare tier 3 quality modules
I see what you’re saying; it’s basically just taking the concept he shows with the engines and doing it for crafting up circuits instead. HOWEVER, here on Fulgora, circuits some straight from the scrap in pretty high numbers; so it’s almost exactly like crafting circuits from quality parts, BUT you don’t have to craft quality plastic (which would be far trickier here). So if you tried doing this on Nauvis, or maybe Volcanus…sure…your way is king. I’d put some money down on this being why he chose Fulgora to make the armor since it cuts out the plastic chain.
@@tricorius9653 Yah you are on the spot, I was testing on Navious, fulgora would definitely be the place to farm from it, I was just going to farm from quality tier 1 first, as it is much easier to get a higher quality for some better results, then upgrade to later tier once you already have all base materials
0:16 that's a fancy way of saying we're procrastinating on Gleba :D
First time i was this early, Factorio had placeholder sprites
0.6 the NOSTALGIA
I basically sped run to Fulgora to see some new stuff. I skipped the logistic system research and now realize I’ve made a horrible mistake.
There's an achievement for that, if you want to join my pain.
Outserter is my new favorite word! Great series, thanks!
I'm sure that's leaked from DSP with its "insorters" and "outsorters", heh.
This is definitely what i been looking for. I wanted to see what it takes to get legendary stuff as fast as possible.
This new dlc update has cooked my brain! Feel like I’ve joined a programming course in a university! Thank you for putting together this series! ❤
I’m going to need to watch this video a lot of times to really grasp the concepts. This quality stuff is breaking my brain
Amazing video. Always effective Nilaus. The mods of Factorio are great but this is on another level. It's nice to see a breath of fresh air😁👍
If you hit the max quality level you can (for example you don't have epic unlocked yet, or for producing legendary parts later) you should use productivity modules in processes that make max quality parts.
That was my first thought when I finally understood how all this worked and I also tested it for a while just to make sure. Good tip!
Actually it would need to be efficiency or speed since it's not an intermediate product.
@@jfryk No no not the final finished product the highest quality parts. Like electric engines can use productivity. But once you are making rare electric engines out of rare engines and rare green chips etc you cant get more quality out of the process but you can get productivity out of it.
Ive always Loved your videos, but this series GOT ME HOOKED i wish every video was 2h long. Keep it up!!!! ❤❤
they should make night vision reduce the color change with higher quality
👍👍👍

He mentions that when he makes the mech armor
I have Epics unlocked on my Twitch save. It is a mistake, but also just throw them in anywhere

0:06 tell us more about Space AIDS! I can't be the only one who heard that :D
Malzahar would like to introduce himself

I still prefer the spidertron for personal transport. Its just so cool.
And automatic, biggest thing with it is you can move somewhere automatically while doing something else
Once you are done with Space Age, will you be making a new base in a book? Or some type of blueprint book?
Yes, he will. It was announced during the first space age playthrough video if you want to go back and check
Base-in-a-Library more like.
Done with space age?
Has the base in a book blueprints been updated for 2.0?
why are you using the mk1 shields instead of mk2?

Love your videos! Don't listen to the haters I love the way you play this and other games. Your content also is very well edited and structured too
Hell yeah let’s go gambling
*drrt drrt*
Aw, dang it.

I just watched the like counter increase by 100 while I watched this video. That's pretty cool.
I LOL'd hard at "but you know you're going to make 20, then go to subreddit and ... whatever". Winning the internet, one snark at a time.
Can the miners mine quality scrap?
Yes, works with any ore
Blueprints yet?
Love your content man, i just have one thing i need cleared up: Cant decide if you're german or danish so which one is it!!
He's Danish
21:07 my reaction as well
Will you make these blueprints free? If you do, when?
Good filter magic
I LOVE GAMBLING!

Yeah it’s a new feature. If 2015 is new. It was added with 0.12

In the future if your rare crafters produce higher-quality items then they won't get removed by any inserters
1 million iron plates on green

It's just me, but I didn't really understand how it worked and I'm starting to get a little scared
Best way to learn how to scuba dive is jump in.

Why push for rare quality instead of legendary?
Epic is researched on Gleba. Legendary is on Aquilo
need to unlock epic and legendary
