AT LAST! you put it all together in a way that makes it possible to practice. A detailed breakdown of the method, motions, rhythm and musculature to get up, you are a good teacher
Yeah man! Thanks for this video we can also see your stance over the foil, I start too narrow I think. Do you change the stance much after you’re up? I guess we feel it. I’ll work just like you’re going and will practice on land first and will give it a try. It’s hard I find to keep the rythme for many strokes. I hope I’ll get it right just once before November ! Haha cheers
Awesome breakdown! Thx a lot, very helpfull 🤙🏼3 questions though; just to calibrate me: What is the surface area cm2 of that front wing? What weight range you in and How many liters volume is that board? Thx in advance!
The best explanation I have seen. Could you advise me what equipment to buy (board, foil), I weigh 150lbs and would be to practice on the lake, thank you very much and please continue making videos.
I’m on the GoFoil Maliko 200 front wing with the Maliko tail wing in this video. I recommend practicing with the biggest foil you have until you are consistently popping up then work your way down in foil sizes
@@PaddleWithRiggs Thanks Jeremy, I am 61 years old with 10 years of SUP surfing experience and was inspired by your UA-cam tutorial videos to start SUP foiling. I ordered a KT Ginxu Dragonfly Surf 7'10, 110ℓ with NAISH JET HA1840 foil, I am 70kg in weight. The foil was the largest set available at the nearby shop here in Japan. I hope this choice is okay for me. I can't wait for them to arrive. I will continue to practice by watching your videos over and over again!
Hey, I just tried sup foiling on flatwater with the 115l version of the Duotone Downwinder and the Fanatic high aero aspect 2000 wing for the first time, but after a couple strokes the board immediately turns and doesn’t go straight. I have a 75cm mast, so it’s quite confusing. Any tips?
Hi Jeremy. I recently suscribed to your course. I just purchased a KT Ginxu Dragonfly board 8' 2" 120 liters, Naish thrust 2640 foil, and I weigh 220 lb. Do you have any suggestions for me?
Thank you Jeremy! I’ve recently learned on an Axis SUP/wing board Froth 6’0, 29”W, 125 Liters in Miami. Wondering if the squarish shape and extra volume that it has would be way too hard to pump around on to enjoy and consistently train on in the lake that I live on. Or thinking that I should just buy a narrow dedicated board (like 6’0, 24”W, 105 L). But not sure where to get something so narrow like you folks are using in Miami. I’m a 170 lbs. All the best! Do you want to sell me something?
Hi Glyn, The narrower boards we are using now make it much easier. I don't have anything to sell but I think you would find the Kalama 6'1" x 23" stable enough. I have let several paddlers demo mine and they were surprised at how stable the board feels
Thanks for sharing your insights and tips. Also I loved your interview on the progression project…you having me frothing to get into Foil DW now. A couple quick questions, if that’s cool: 1. I am 85kg 6’1 tall and ride a 97l sup surf board 6ft x 27 1/2 wide and was thinking to get a custom DW board 6’4 - 6’6 - 23 - 25 wide. I do want to still sup surf this also. After a comment of yours was thinking I should go closer to the 23 side what leggy and dimensions would you recommend? 2. How’s the Ona Ava QB paddle going and for my weight would you recommend 105 or the 115? 3. Height of paddle - I normal have head high or lower but in the comments you said 4” above the head.. So just wondered on reason and your thoughts on this for Sup foil DW 4. I am on lift gear and largest HA or mid aspect wing is the 200ha (1290cm 6.8 aspect ratio) have been told that I will need a larger wing to learn on eg: 1300png axis - ASPECT RATIO: 9.94 ACTUAL AREA 1712 square cm What’s your thoughts? thanks heaps Jeremy. Cheers David
How important is paddle blade size? I don’t hear much talk about it but looks like you and others are using big blades with good results. We are all looking for that magic bullet And suddenly we will be popping up like You because you know it must be the paddle not the paddler. Haha.
I like the bigger blades but some guys are still using small blades. I just ordered the Ava Ono 105 from Quick blade. They have a 115 but I don't feel like I need to go that big weighing in at 160 lbs
With my 2019 120l Naish Hover, the board turns almost 90 degree at each stroke... There's obviously something wrong in my technique... I do almost circular strokes to counterbalance the rotation but it obviously doesn't work... I paddle towards the board during first half then paddle away during the second part... You seem to do almost straight strokes, that's surprising.. 🤔
Hi jean . Any luck with this technique on your $120 L hover? I have the same board and am about to start practicing but I did run into that problem with it turning also.
Eric Schweitzer Sorry, I didn't see your message. No, no luck at all. Still going around in circles. Could almost paddle in my bathtub 😀. I'm trying to get my hands on a very specific board to compare, the Gong Cruzader XL. I'm hoping to get one on loan soon. Any news on your own attempts?
I’m using the M280. It has the most lift and it’s easier to get off the water than the smaller foils. The smaller foils work for flat water but it takes more strokes and effort with a smaller wing. Smallest wing I can get lifted on is the Go Foil NL160
@@PaddleWithRiggs Also I'm running the long pedestal with the 18-in stab. Would adding a washer to the rear screw help with the pumping or just keep it neutral? Thanks
2:31 Your skills are insane, 3 paddlestrokes and you`re completely out of the water and on the foil, really impressive!

The clearest explanation on popping a foil from standing start I have seen yet, well done 👍
Thanks so much
Agree, brilliant aye
You make that look WAAAAY easier than it is...its sickening. Thanks for the tips!! hopefully you just unlocked the DW get up.
this is what was missing everywhere else on YT, THANKS!
Thanks for tips. Just cracked the code downwinding on the Great Lakes.
Bro that was the best bit of advice I’ve gotten to help me progress!!! It changed everything!!Thank you very much!🤙🏼
Glad to hear it!
Awesome Jeremy, you truly are The Best Coach on this Planet 👀👍🏄♀️🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺

Excellent instructions! I can't wait to get on the water to try. Thanks, Jeremy!
Holy shit, what a fucking genius you are MY dude. FUCKK - changes the game! Thanks so much bro!

Excellent explanations, Thanks, great value your advices how to pump.
This is so detailed and helpful thank you Jeremy 😁😁
Excellent detail JR mahalo
Literally like learning how to ollie al over again 😂
Outstanding explanation. It remains totally impossible for me, but now I know how I could do if I were in olympic condition 😀
Well done Jeremy! Thanks
Cracked the code! Thanks Jeremy!
excellent video as usual. Jeremy. You're never going to need a Foil Drive. I'm getting one instead... :)

Thanks for sharing this. Any advice on how far back or how far forward to place the foil?
It’s usually easier with the foil placed all the way forward in the box

I’m looking at a used 5’9” e3 board, and wonder what your weight is on that bigger one? I’m 170lbs.
I'm 160 lbs
@@PaddleWithRiggs thanks!
Thanks for the instructions. Can you lift @95L board too? I've just got 5'9 95L. I'm 160lbs.
Yes.
Great! Thanks, I'll keep practicing.
awsome
how long do you want your paddle to be? someone said your height plus 4"...... you're looks longer?
Mine is 4” over my head. 2-3” over head might be better for only flat water but I like 4” for downwind and surfing and it works for me on flat water

Isn’t that an outrigger paddle ? Do you just ask them to change to an SUP shaft of the proper length?
any recommendation to the paddle? your one seems have a big face.
