We were just walking on the road after dinner that some ladies in the house were having Ladies Sangeet, a ceremony before marriage which used to last for a week, and all of us went inside without invitation to listen to it. Everybody enjoyed it, the host as well as the uninvited guests. And we also participated by singing some punjabi wedding songs. Those times were really wonderful. Aajkal tou logon ke nakhre hi bahut hain.

this song used to play on my fathers stereo in his car as we cruised Saudi Arabia roads decades ago. I went to those places again the other day and wept my heart out, our house, the playgrounds and the mosque in Madina. i saw it all and what saddens at this beautiful song is that the world we once knew is no more. the innocence of the times and its people so descriptive yet so simple will never be again. Shashi Kapoor is gone and so are my parents. the world has ended, and this now is hell.

this song used to play on my fathers stereo in his car as we cruised Saudi Arabia roads decades ago. I went to those places again the other day and wept my heart out, our house, the playgrounds and the mosque in Madina. i saw it all and what saddens at this beautiful song is that the world we once knew is no more. the innocence of the times and its people so descriptive yet so simple will never be again. Shashi Kapoor is gone and so are my parents. the world has ended, and this now is hell.
