its like a bad cooking show. They cut to the next scene and show you the pie already made. This went from the housing being pulled on to being side ways then the air intake was off in the next clip. You missed the HOW TO part.
i watched this and said hell no. I removed the heater core hoses, removed like 10 small screws with a 8mm socket , pulled the two halves apart and lifted the ac evap out.
Could that be causing my explorer not to get any air from the front vents? It blows cold air out the defroster and rear vents but not the front where the radio is.
it went from. get this nut out to you pulling on the whole thing that was loose. One nut holds the whole thing in? Also i wouldnt hit the heater core at all.

@@diversity2739 I've heard there's ONE bolt / nut on the inside you have to undo to remove this evap core....is that true? didn't see that in video so they were probably wrong....
That's the way to do them, far easier than having to pull the whole dash on the newer Fords. I like to completely disassemble the airbox and scrub the heck out of it and replace the heater core and evaporator core.
Thanks for the video! I need to change my evap core (for mildew smell not a leak). I assume when i disassemble the refrigerant will escape? (this is the low pressure side correct)? Is there any economical way to do this and save the refrigerant? How many ounces of refrigerant will i need to fill the system?
have you already tried cleaning it from the blower side?. I just finished cleaning it partially from the blower side ( by removing the blower) and just spraying soapy water and taking all the leaves out and my vent temp went from 54 to 40 degrees. if you just plan to clean it like i did, then you don't need to evacuate and recharge the system. so its easier to do and simpler in a way.
I have a 1996 Ford explorer 5.0 thank you for making his video. I have a good idea what to do now the only thing is I’m trying to figure out that you mentioned knocking out a stud or bolt on the bottom of the heater core box
Hey Vazquez you don't need to go that deep, if you just want to replace the evaporator core. l wanted to see what alse was cloded up. take a look at Chris comment below mine.
Thanks... nice video.. I have a 2009 Lincoln towncar that needs a new evaporator....Ford says you need the whole housing and the evaporator coil is not serviceable....do you know if that is true?
On the 1996 FORD EXPLORER there is a stud at the bottom of the Evaporator box that is accessed under the dash....you remove a screw on the bottom of the heater core box and knock the stud out thru the interior to the exterior.....when done just drive stud back in and replace the bolt.
Very nice video! But what happened on the assembly part? The video cuts!!! A question; appart from the 2 seals on both sides of the evaporator (the ones you reused), did you find any other seal inside the evaporator housing?
sorry for the cut off clips, this happen when I was trying to upload and the system would not let me upload pass 10min so I ended up cutting the video unit I got lost to answer your question, no there were no other seals found thanks for watching Matias diversity2
Thanks a lot man... so, the only foam seals you found inside the evaporator housing where the ones you reused? The ones attached to the front and back of the evaporator itself, right? Geat how-to video!!!!!
hey Ernesto. that was about 7 years ago. I think about 4 or 5 hours. l was told l there is a short cut. if you just wanted to get the core out only. By unbolting the core cover.
on the 99 explorer sport there are the 3 bolts on the fire wall and ANOTHER inside the the car up under the passenger foot well. it's a nut you must remove. also, the vacuum hose plug for the heater control is there also. the unit comes out pretty easy once all these bolts are removed. save yourself some trouble and remove the air intake, cruse control servo and washer and coolant tanks first.
Can I do this for a Ford Explorer 91 too? I have to replace my evaporator core too because my A/C isn’t working and it has to be the evap I can’t find any leaks.
Locate it, replace it. l heard there is an easier way ,to get to mine. I would go to firestone and get a free estament, and asked them how would they removed it. and go home and do it myself.
@@Sip28 ok. check out the Haynes Manuel. go on line . you may he able to remove the screws on the houseing. and take the top cover off. and disconnect the evaporator core, that way.
diversity2 yes, I did there is screws to it. The heater core hoses are in the way, but they look like I can remove it and pull it out the same way you did. Once I do all I have to do is pull out the evaporator core and slide it in its housing right? Also, what about the little filter the orific tube? How do I replace that, will that be in the evaporator core too?

Chris lol, you had the same reply on the 1998 ranger vid on how to remove the evap
That's what I was thinking. I'm not taking all that off it I dont have to

replace the blower motor resister, and see what happens.
