Your vintage washing machines are soooo much better than a HE top load washer without an agitator. I wish they still make these washers these days. These washing machines lasted longer than the new ones out today. With the new HE washing machine, you can’t even expect them to last as long as this one did (meaning the new ones break faster and only last a couple years after bought from Lowe’s, Home Depot or other big box stores. I noticed it is a generic Westinghouse type washing machine. My grandfather worked for Westinghouse many years ago before he passed away in 2017. These older machines were much more serviceable then what we buy today. I’m so sorry that it failed.
If Westinghouse made and built this washer for Western Auto, then the turnover was PHENOMENAL. And that’s in spite of it having an indexing wash tub. And Westinghouses were not known to have great turnover. But this one’s an exception, and it was exceptional indeed. How come Westinghouse wasn’t able to do this in their own top loaders? -Charles-
Wow what an amazing video!!! That's when washers were real washers back then and really got your clothes clean, not like the machines that they have out today that just wet your clothes and fool you into thinking that their clean!!!
To bad it decided to retire because that’s a good old gal right there. Kicks butt and asks questions later. I only know about therm from the lore in the repair world & never actually saw one! Guess many suffer’d the same fate much earlier in their lifespans. 👍👍
That machine was obviously built by Westinghouse Electric. Westinghouse washers, at the time were the only washers with an indexing basket because the transmission had no brake on them. If this machine had the Westinghouse ramp agitator, the turnover would have been better.
@@imperiallebaron2391 I think this is actually Franklin built, just before Franklin merged with WCI. In any case the wash action is the same and I agree without your assessment. Though that huge agitator is no slouch.... It just needed a stationary tub.

WOW this washer certainly beats any kind of dirt off the clothes. Amazing agitation!

Westinghouse washers with the 3 3/4 deep ramp agitator had excellent turnover.
I barely saw any turnover on that first load. I've never seen an agitator thrash a load like this did.
Wow this machine is giving it's all with great turn over.
Holy crap! Almost an hour and a half of 2004!? That's rare!
I hate when the tub never stops indexing, a steady drum would improve rollover
That's basically a Westinghouse washer with a Norge type agitation.
I agree.
It's funny how the video quality of 17 years ago looks like something from the 70s..lol.
Digging the fill flume. Looks like modern day Speed Queen.
To me it appears that their goal was to force water through the fabric while creating a rubbing action with the agitator. No roll over that I can see.
The second cycle looks like the one featured in “The Washers We Love and More”
Probably is, judging by the description saying that these cycles are from 2004.
You're exactly right, except you get to see the entire cycle now!
@@automaticwasher Robert what made you wait until now to post this ?
That washer means business! Love it! Sorry to hear what happened to it. Its unfortunate you couldnt find spare parts to save it
Interesting rare washer. I believe the Frigidaires and Whirlpools/Sears Kenmores were the best makes though.
Beautiful

Aren't there any parts from other parts washers to repair this old machine?
Shame how that spinning tub ruins what would be some great turnover by that agitator.

Simpson Australia used the same agitator for their wringer washers.

Wow, is this made by Westinghouse Appliances, or Norge?
