It makes sense while simultaneously it doesn't at the same time. If an generative AI designed entirely around generating images of Minecraft gameplay were to have it's pov covered by cows, "seeing" only brown and white. its logical for it to determine your in a snowy tiga type biome with spruce trees and snowed grounds. It took in thousands of hours of exploration, probably on a couple hundred of actual gameplay (building, crafting, farming, mining, inventory management)
So a few things: 1. They’re using Minecraft as a Proof of Concept to showcase the capabilities of their Oasis AI, which (from what I can gather) allows you to procedurally generate the entire world around the player based off of whatever information is fed to it. Which is honestly a pretty cool concept if you’re making something like a fever dream game or something similar to that. 2. There’s currently a contest going on in their Discord where there are 4 different categories ranging from Easy to Very Hard. Each category has a specific task that you need to do in the game (such as turning water into ice, finding a horse, seeing the Enchanting Table menu, and showing the death screen when you die). 3. Funny thing is that there’s another category that’s marked Impossible with only one task: Find Herobrine.
It may be a cool concept, but you have to make a game, then get thousands of gpus and write AI that will automatically play/get hundreds of players, then run it on the gpus And then you get an AI that is recombining the footage into what should be It's impractical, untill true intelligence. Unless they will be stealing footage

Yup. As a Dungeon Master for my D&D group I also find it great at brainstorming storylines and coming up with ideas for plots/characters etc. It's not coherent enough for actual writing, but for brainstorming I find it amazing at getting my own creative juices flowing.

Dreams typically keep track of what’s out of your line of sight, but if you ever have a lucid dream, try spinning around in place. Your environment gets blurry, and if you imagine a different environment, you can end up there when you stop spinning. You can also conjure objects by imagining them to be inside containers, like your pocket, and just pulling them out. When your brain encounters an unknown, it acts like this AI and just generates content.
Another analogy is the actual game 4D miner. It lets you explore the so-called "slices" of its 4D world and it is possible for one slice to look exactly like the next in the direction you are facing, but when you turn around you spot differences. I do not know much of the "AI" mechanism used here, but in general it involves neural networks, which involve high-dimensional matrices, right? So that's a more abstract connection right there.

Personally I would say dreams don't change as rapidly as this, though at some point they can have a sudden change in the direction of the 'story'. Usually there will be some kind of theme that persists and can be the basis for the dream, sometimes the setting changes but the previous theme or part of it can still remain.
Imagine a perfectly functional horror game where things like this intentionally happen at specific moments. Like you enter certain rooms and reality starts to break down.

I honestly think the point here is really sound in that AI generation can't really replicate games in the same way it can images and video, likely because if you train an AI on videos or examples of games, it's unlikely to make sense because there aren't coherent rules or laws to how anything works.
