Thank you Willie for showcasing Robertson....👏my dear late mom hailed from Robertson so as a child I would experience a train trip atleast once a year either at Easter or Christmas to visit her family, my grandfather and my aunt, it was such a special time to experience country life and hospitality coming from Cape Town surburbia ... when my mom celebrated her 90th birthday in 2002 we as a family did a day trip to her hometown Robertson, she lived in VanZyl Straat but by then most of her generation had passed on, however she was delighted and we as her daughters and our families were so priveleged and delighted too going down memory lane with her... this video has just trigged some happy childhood memories of my holidays in Robertson...Much appreciated🌟⭐
Hi Denise, so pleased to hear you enjoyed the video and that it brought back some great memories. Sounds like it is a place close to your heart, and rightly so. Thanks for watching my videos!
Willie, you never cease to amaze me. We always drive through Robertson, going somewhere else, and never think to stop and experience the rich history and lovely things in the town and surrounding areas. Thanks for sharing and informing us.
Hi Errol, as a second-time visitor to Robertson I had a great time! Obviously special because I now have family living there, but it has a very interesting history and some great activities for all ages and interests. Cheers as always for your comments and support!
Hey Willie this town is so nice it looks very clean well organized and well taken care off Robertson looks so laid back and relaxed loving the videos man keep it up 👍👍
Hi Willie…. Well, you’ve certainly whetted my appetite with this gem…. I love birds.. I have kept cockatiels for over 30 years mainly one or two but at one time I had 4 … I have only one now and she’s a character just like the cockatoo you got on so famously with 😂… looks a great town to visit… had to look up the pound/ rand exchange rate ..it seems South Africa is still a good country for tourists to visit. When I was there in I think 1997.. the rate was good too… excited for tour no 3… 😊
Hi Christine! Glad to hear you enjoyed this one with our feather friends, they certainly added a unique touch to my experience. Those cockatoos make fabulous pets for sure, I bet the one you still have brings you a lot of joy. SA has always been a great destination for the Brits from an exchange rate perspective. The pound goes a long way here for sure. Cheers for your unwavering support for my channel, it is much appreciated!
Another Amazing video by Willie Explore, this time from Robertson ! An area most tourists probably won’t find? Beautiful scenery and surroundings. Not a lot people around though? Shame we didn’t get to meet your family properly. Very interesting and informative video as always Sir! They have a really fascinating collection of birds and crocodiles and much more at the zoo in Johannesburg, where I was last year, I hope you will make it there during this trip! Would be interesting if you visited and presented all the different cultures in South Africa while you are there, I believe there’s 11 of them? And areas such as Hillbrow in Johannesburg! And the local Foods aswell including Braai. There’s far too much burgers and pizza in South Africa, I noticed when I was there, please show us more local traditional foods! Who could do all this better than you Willie!? Not that many are exploring South Africa on UA-cam! Thank you Willie! I Love this!
Hi Bip, thanks as always for your unwavering support, it is greatly appreciated! Glad you enjoy these South Africa videos. We used to have 11 official languages but sign language was added as a 12th fairly recently. South Africa is a huge country with lots to see, so I'll try my best! Have a good weekend my friend :)
Hey, Willie! That's a really nice place. Have had some really good South Africa wine, but can't say I've ever had any specifically from Robertson, and now on my list. Of course, enjoy your "chats with everyone", but you did miss out on talking with the crocs! Next time ... and from a safe distance! [Greetings to South Africa from South Arizona]
Hi Jim! Always great to hear from you, hope you are keeping well! You know, I definitely missed out on conversing with the crocodiles, maybe next time I could chance it from a distance like you say! From our previous chats, I take it you are fond of wine tasting, so you will really enjoy this part of South Africa. Cheers as always for supporting me!
i live in SA, just discovered you.. the addition of the "historical story" is epic... so much of our history is only recorded in books and boring old documentaries...
Cheers David, really appreciate your encouragement and support. We have such a wonderful country and I'll try my best to showcase some places for others to see.
Amazingly beautiful, i never had imagine that Africa has so many charming places. Breathtaking. The only thing i have notice is i dont see people in some places you go. Where is the people? it gives me chills to see, solitary streets. 😯
Hi Cecilia, glad you enjoy my videos! South Africa has wonderful places to visit. As for the people, a few people have asked me about this. Many would of course be at work, but South Africans in general also like to spend time indoors, be it at their homes or in restaurants, malls or pubs. In the cities you will see many people on the street though.
Another great blog, Willie. One thing that you haven't found yet on all your travels is a barber😮. 1.5 bathrooms means, 1 full bathroom with a shower and bath, then another bathroom with a bath or shower only.
Thanks for watching Pieter! Haha re the barber, maybe a trim before Christmas could be in order. Cheers for explaining the mystery behind the 1.5 bathroom. Have a good day!
Brilliant video as always plenty of adventures to bring and information about the place especially the birds park that is awesome for visiting it looks very interesting peacefully in the settings also one question about the train lines? Would it be inspiring interesting ideal for a light tram railway like a metro to travel for people who want to visited of go on day trips i think cape town and Johannesburg aswell sin city have light tram rail in their cities so would be great investment to bring it into rural areas which need more than just a few things anyway it was great video and looked forward to watch the next one and willie furthermore asking is Indonesia on your plans for a trip thanks!
Hi Simon thanks as always for contributing! Some good questions you pose there re connecting the major towns and cities. I guess with a bit of will power and the necessary monetary injection, one can hope for the best! Re Indonesia, I haven't been there yet, and anywhere I haven't been is on my list, so yes :)
Looks like a very interesting place! I've noticed how you matched your clothing colours to the settings lately. Blue top in Gansbaai for the blue waters and red top in the wine country for the red wine? Safe travels
Hi Willie thanks for a great vlog of Roberson . ARE you also going to Wellington which is also very interesting in terms of farming and a small town.if one didn't have a car is there a train or bus service to Robertson?
Hi Mary always a pleasure hearing from you! I've not thought of Wellington to be honest but maybe I can travel to that area in due course. Lots of SA videos coming soon though!
Hello Jaad, nice to hear from you! For now I will stay in South Africa for a while. If I read the algorithm correctly, it makes sense for me to build my channel for a bit in my home country first. I'll possibly return to India in due course but it is a big if at this stage. Hope all is well!
In 1957 I was invited to come to Gaansbaai with a friends family we stayed with fisherman,in there small homes, during the day we caught crayfish, and made a fire on the beach,we used old paraffin tins to cook the creef which we enjoyed as our meal of the day.we were invited to the local hotel, which was termed as the cowboy hotel, the family I was with we were a sciffel group band and were invited to play in the other hotel, more classy, the time one never forgets,I was on the base,a old tea box a broom handle and rope an old washboard,a guitar from an 5litre oil can,and a drummer,a tin,a fork and spoon which made an amazing sound to the music of the day.whoever may visit these sights enjoy oh Yes while on the beach eating our crayfish we never had glasses for our wine and beer,we used dried out kelp,a timei will never forget.am 83 would love to go back.
Willie! Do you have a wife and children that travel with you on your trips? That would be so special as a whole family. Some of my best memories as a child was traveling around India by train with my father and sister.
You are showing me places that I could never visit, although I would love to. Thank you Willie
It is my pleasure and indeed a privilege, Charmaine. Thanks for travelling along virtually!

@willieexplore okay thanx
Willie! Do you have a wife and children that travel with you on your trips? That would be so special as a whole family. Some of my best memories as a child was traveling around India by train with my father and sister.
Hi! No, I don't have a wife and kids. Sounds like you have some great memories to treasure there!
Willie ek is mal oor Robertson en 4 cousins restaurant! Groete!
Lekker plek hierdie Tosca! 'n Hoogtepunt vir "food & drink" liefhebbers!
Apparently the population of Robertson in 2024 was approximately 38,000. 😮
Just googled it.........
Wow so I was close! It is certainly a town on the grow. Thanks for watching, as always!
