"They're fairies!
They are like mafia, but with magic!"
Dael, that's not what "fairy godfather" meant.
"They're like the mafia, but magic." Now I want to write a story with the Seelie and Unseelie as rival mafia families.
Dael was scarier when she had that big knife to her face.
I wonder what they Faeries were thinking by the third Halloween. Were they like "Do you think that guy will come back for a third time to steal from us? Should we lock the door?"
_Muuuuuuuuuuuummm!_ Dael's being creepy on the internet!
Again.
"Ooh, I made a rhyme!" Because priorities! :P
Anyway, awesome story-telling. Loved the costume, and was very glad you put a stop to the Irish accent :D
As an Irishman i love your Irish accent. Not sure why but i got happy when i heard you cry out Jamie lol
I love how differently I pictured the fairies depending on how you portrayed them. The first halloween, the fairies were super creepy (thanks by the way. That won't be keeping me up at all). But the second halloween I pictured them more like, from a Disney movie.
How is it they went a whole year without giving her paper and pen? Like, if you find someone who can't speak or hear, isn't that like, the first thing you do? To allow them to communicate? Like in Hush!
Also, I'm surprised it took me until now that dumb meant mute. Pinball Wizard makes more sense now.
+Champ Ian In Irish folktale times literacy rates were much lower than they are today, so that might explain why 'lets get this person some writing utensils' wasn't the first thing that sprang to mind.
+John-Alan Pascoe But why didn't she ask for paper and pen? Surely she could have mimed the request, and if they didn't have any, they could have taken her to the local priest, who would have been at least semi-literate.
That's what my thought was. The art of mime is very nifty.
"Up the airy mountain, Down the rushy glen, We daren't go a-hunting, For fear of little men..."
Now I kind of want to see you do a video together with someone from Ireland doing an Australian accent while you do an Irish accent.
cringepocalypse
Ooh, a FolkDael.
+Dwight Schueler What you did there...
well played
0:42 Starts off in Scottish then morphs to Mancunian XD. 10/10 for effort though.
Wait.
A happy ending in an Irish folktale...?
o.O
+Jamie Sanchez I know, right? I kept expecting them to get cursed or turned into something.
AND he dicked over a bunch of fairies and got away with it too. Very strange.
@@Pokemon4WoT It's almost like the whole thing was a show put on to screw with a couple of mortals for their own amusement.
My grannys birthday is on halloween shes 11 years dead theirs a lot of history to her families life she lived in a castle when she was young bless u you are a beautiful wee thing
Faerie: pl. noun, little spirits. Diminutive form of elvish faer, meaning spirits or souls. It is possible the Faerie are indeed the last remnants of the elves who have remained here in Middle-Earth, or the word may have been taken and applied to lesser spirits that have arisen in these later days.
I liked the story. It's nice to have a happy ending every now and again. For Halloween I dressed up as a medieval knight and carried around a pen. You know, 'cause it's mightier than a sword...also swords are more expensive.
Oh thank you! I want to one-up it next year, but I'm unsure as to the how. Any ideas?
Less than one minute in and I already love where this is going with the Secret of Roan Inish reference.
I really liked you costume. Also, the video was great. I especially appreciated the additional voices while the faeries spoke.
The fae can be a really mean spirited bunch. Wonderful telleing as always though.
Lieutenant of Inishmore reference! Ohhh Davey.
Huh. I thought for sure the faerie's drink was a trap, if not for the girl then for her parents, but i guess they really were just daft. What an odd turn of events.
The accents for the girl's family were the best, by the way. Loved the whispering effects too. And the costume, of course! Brill as always.
I didn't dress up, but i did watch Hellraiser, which turned out to be not scary at all.
+Gabriel Veiga I thought the drink was a trap, too. But then I have a nasty, suspicious mind.
+Gabriel Veiga It's abit like Rumpelstiltskin chanting his own name to himself in the forest while oblivious to his surroundings...
By far your best story the characters are vivid and its all very funy
"money is good"
I dressed as Magnum PI this year
a happy ending? really? loved it thanks dael!
That opening...
I was The Joker, which was soooo much fun.
Well I dressed as a Shinigami for one party and a jedi knight for another party. =D
Another great video! The part with the parents was so funny 😂 anyways, I dressed up as a duck this Halloween 🐦 (seriously, there should be a duck emoji)
10/10 accent
You referenced my favourite movie! Thank you! Secret of Roan Inish needs more love.
wow nice story and surprisingly no death occurred
i dressed as a masquerader but it rained like crazy so i couldn't trick or treat and i would email this to my grandma if i wasn't positive that she would never see it because she never checks her email
How did I miss this when it was posted? Either way, nice to see someone who harks back to the Samhain.
Is this what that old mafia movie is about - The Faerie Godfather?
Thank you Dael! Keep up the good work! I dressed as Master Qui-Gon Jinn and we walked around Salem, Ma, USA! People watching and having a great time! :)
OMG! we must still have fairies in ireland, because whenever i take a bus or tram i hear them calling out the names of the places we pass :P .
They even do in english and some weird fairy language that i don't speak a word of, because i only did twelve years of it in school :$ .
Now Ya Talkn!
boomshakalaka I dig how you tell stories keep it up Dael
Moral of the story: if you deceive and steal and betray someone'shospitality you will get a wife and money and money is good.
Also, I mean, if a creepy zombie bride Dael tried to marry me, you know, I might go through with it.
Alhough I kinda miss Dael drawing her tales.
I don't know, it seemed like pissing off the Faerie's work out really well for Jamie Freel in the end, he got to marry a beautiful and rich woman who seemed to really love him
my thing with faeries of things you should not do is everything. Just dont. what ever you could do with a fae you probably don't want to
Nice Storytelling! I admire how you can remember all that stuff in such detail and bring your own funny note to it :D
Just found Daels stuff so watching a lot of old videos :) This made me think of a BBC series Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell which fits right in with this story.
cc + Australian accent = funny.
Great story, and a great costume! It's weird, though, despite being from two different mythologies from two very different parts of the world, I found the part where Jamie has to keep hold of the woman despite her changing shape reminded me of the Greek myth of Peleus and Thetis, where he has to keep hold of her while she's changing shape before she agrees to marry her, and the myth of Menelaus and Proteus, which had the same deal, minus the marriage.
also, trying to shapeshift people being reverse kidnapped seems to be a standard strategy for the fae; the exact same thing happened in tam lin
I really enjoy your mythology and folklore stories! Let me tell you I have been on a binge watching your videos including the ones on the Geek & Sundry Vlogs. I am so happy to find someone that also enjoys greek mythology. :) Please keep it up, you are a true storyteller.
I see dice in the background! Gaming dice! Confirmed: In love. :p
Hahaha! Sullivan voice was hilarious.
"Ooh, I made a rhyme." - Dael 2015
As always, well done and I enjoyed it a great dael. Huh? Yeah? No. No, I'll never do that again.
thanks for the story , ^^ a while aways yet but looking forward to halloween again thiss year
Great opening to a great video
haha. i knew you couldnt keep that voice up. i want to see outtakes from the intro and the rest of the video too.
in other news, did you see the articles the other day about the research paper saying the australian accent originated in drunkeness.
dont eat fairy food?! what about fairy bread? you cant ban that
The intro gave me the heebie geebies, yeesh!! Great job, Dael!
Wow, my hometown (absolute middle of nowhere. Seriously, it has nothing going for it) is mentioned in this o.O. In that case 'Fannet' is 'Fanad', North Donegal. I now feel a bit silly for having never heard of this folktale before :).
Such a lovely story. I really loved it, and laughed considerably. :)
This comment made me really happy! :D
+MonarchsFactory I am writing a book, and naming most of my characters after Greek Mythology people. You can't imagine how helpful you have been.. Keep up the good work. :)
MonarchsFactory Your costume reminds me of a less scary version of my wife.
Loved it!
I love the editing in this episode, keep up the great work!
Jamie! The secret of ronn inis?
The abduction bit sounds sort of like a reverse "Tam Lin" ( ua-cam.com/video/jy3ihk205ew/v-deo.html ), but then I guess every fairy abduction story sounds a lot like every other fairy abduction story.
I looked this story up, and found that Fannet is now spelled Fanad, that it is on the northern coast of Donegal, way up north, and that there are still Friels living there.
In a (written) version of the story I found online, Jamie and his mother speak Scots, so don't worry about your accent.
I love your stories.
+Brett Fischer Dressed up as a devil.
You're a goofball and I luvs you.
Great vid. Great costume. Great puns. 10/10
(Well maybe only 4/10 for the accents themself. I mean we need to be real here with our scoring system. Otherwise it will look totally abitrary)
Was that a Secret of Roan Innish reference? Jamie!
HI could u tell the story of The Nymphs,Hesperides & the Graces or The myth of Europe please anyone will do,love them all
you look Awesome =) and i like your Irish accent but then again i also like to hear you talk as you have a really nice voice =) Keep up the Awesomeness
Didn't get to dress up cause we had remnant of the hurricane rains so we had a down pour. We are going to put a note up on our door today to see if any kids want so candy cause we got a bunch.
Can you do the legend of Cerridwen??
Kinda surprised you didn't point out the whole thing with the letters. It's not because you're mute and deaf that you can't write, she could have done it all along 😂
Luke Skywalker...I think I need a new costume
"And once again I have dressed up, fortheoccasion" xD
Secret Of Roan Innish reference Nce :)
I was Harry Dresden.
Do u know the true story about robert gladdery the last man to be hung in ireland and the story about hicky in newry plus i would like to here u tell more storys about zeitgeist egyptians what goes on behind the scenes if u can
OMG I'm Irish so this story is amazing! an I already knew the story :D
good try with the accent BTW
You have stolen what they have rightfully stolen!
+Champ Ian Hey, it worked for the Dread Pirate Roberts.
YES! I was needing someone to make the connection.
Champ Ian, yeah, you don't question the serpent race/nephilim. ha. There's old theories about these stories.
Hey dael, will you be playing the new fallout game? what do you think about the censorship Australian governments place on game manufacturers?
what happened to Dael's cute rose cheekbones
Jaaaamie jaaaaaaaamie
Whose the lucky guy?
Haha my name was in the story :)
First second. In love 😍
You're too cute!
Não entendi nada kkkkkkk
ok, so. the fairies don't like humans. never, even when it looks like they do; its not real. Thats the jist, of fairies and thats what people believed.
I am not going to notice your attempted Irish accent. If you realised it wasn't good, then it isn't insulting to me (can't speak for the rest of Ireland though) 😝 I have never heard this story before!
I could tell your accent wasn't authentic because I understood everything you said.
Truer words have never been spoken.
+SclohOne My brother has been putting on a bad Scottish accent while we are working lately and I told him yesterday he must be getting better at it because I couldn't understand a word he just said. :P
gg
u look good blonde :)
is it wrong to think thats hot?
Wait, you’re not Irish!?!?
Deaf and dumb? Like Tommy?
*cringe*! *phew*!
