Same here. I've found it easier that way. I had a friend ask: what if it's a western-comedy, how would I file that? My answer is I look in the westerns first, if it's not there I walk about five feet over and look in the comedy section. Not like I own a video store.
@@JaxonRamblers With over 5K titles spread over 3 rooms and multiple shelves, boxes and cupboards 'pure' alpha works best for me when shelved and by date when boxed (so I know which box it is easily just checking my collection program for when I bought it).
Mate curious question do you alphabetically put prequels before the main film? Like bumblebee before transformers, so transformers will be in the B section instead of the T section
Yeah Pauly, alphabetical order is the fastest way to find a movie, in my humble opinion. I have together the Ridley Scott movies and the Christopher Nolan movies.
hahahaha well at least you spent your time well 😁 I mostly own 4k releases so everything is mostly in black cases so that's a nice neutral look but what i did is i sorted my movies by studio's and that is something that works well for me because i remember most of the time what studio distributed the movie so easy to find for me. I did put the franchises like Marvel and Pixar together under the studio's shelves so still easy to find. I know i'm a nerd 😂
@@BigPauly it’s so boring it’s got zero action it’s poorly made it’s a bore fest it’s gotta be the worst movie I’ve seen in years it lacks that comic book action idk the director was thinking it needs a bigger bigger budget it’s terrible
This is proof that you are a hoarder not a collector. You don't know half the crap on your shelf. Anyway..we all know the best way to sort your collection is by barcode.
One long, rainy Bank Holiday, I decided to put all my blu rays & DVDs into alphabetical order. Worst decision of my life. Hundreds of them still lying around because I haven't the time, energy or inclination.
Find the time John. Or better still, convert them to Mp4 or mkv and they will be automatically put in alphabetical order on a hard drive. Plug it into your tv or disc player and Hey presto! Bob's your uncle.
@@stevebriffoutandabout5081 Agreed... but what happens with something like 'El Camino' or 'Le Samourai' which start with _The_ in their native language? 🤔
Regarding the colour thing, like what were you thinking , cannot see why you did it like that in the 1st place
Big Pauly 6 months later, "You know what? I think it actually looked better colour coded, let's change it again." Lol
That sounds like a headache! (i say this as someone who doesn't even his collection alphabetised!)
He's already regretting selling all his movies 🤣
The man having trouble sleeping
Used to do it alphabetically but now I do franchises like Marvel/DC then do the rest by main star like Arnie, Stallone etc
I'm essentially alpha but am probably going to have a separate Anime section... well 'Anime Box' at the moment because I'm out of shelf space!
I’ve only ever organised mine by genre. So all my horrors are together, action, fantasy, sci fi etc etc.

@@blujustin4175 I see your point, there. Mine isn't that big yet. But I'm working on it.
@@JaxonRamblers I really have to cut down on adding to those numbers!
I'd imagine it knackers sequels with different colours
Speaking of movies, everyone needs to go see the Substance, it's a great flick, best of all it's not a Hollywood movie, from the UK and France!
I remember once sending titles to Cex’s head office. I can see myself doing it again at some point, Pauly.
Just had pet cemetery and Rosemary's baby 4k special edition collector's sets with slip poster art cards 😊
It wasn't a good idea for the color coding ...this whole video proves it😂😂
Mate curious question do you alphabetically put prequels before the main film? Like bumblebee before transformers, so transformers will be in the B section instead of the T section
I organised all mine by genre which I find much easier for me. I haven't got to worry about finding space moving them all along to fit 1x film in.

The way I sort my blu-rays & DVDs out are by doing the age rate and by TV shows. It's only because I don't know my ABCs
Looks like Disney have had enough of making mistakes. The two Star Wars movies about Rey have been put on indefinite hold. Yippee Kayaa!
Yeah it’s on hold for script rewrites
Great video and they look better now in alphabetical order Pauly should have had them always like that it is the best way I think anyway.
Reds look nice
I have to say that not sticking to the colour coding system doesn't surprise me at all. I questioned the decision at the time.
Why didn’t you alphabetically do it in colour coded sections ? It would have saved you time or is that the next move around to do ?
I did that when I colour coded them
Great Video Paul
Mine are in genre order and not strict alpha either. I know where everything is

Lol. Pauly. Unless you have a movie with Aardvark in the title. Aa is a no go. Colour coding is the road to numptiness.
Go on Johnny

I did say it was a bad idea. And me personally I did not like the way it looked
I do it bt decades.
