Whether it's reviewing games from the season, picking apart schemes, or evaluating personnel, there's always something to study in the film room. Hit hudl with us every Friday.
This week, Coach Albaugh looks at the simple concept of matching numbers with numbers. 4 years ago Coach Albaugh and his staff developed this numbering system to determine whether or not to move their entire front over 1 man.

Coach, like the idea of counting the field as an extra player!

Coach I would have to disagree with the point @11:45. Out of 2-back offset I-Formation, you can run all sorts of plays back the other way to the weak side. Fullback power, power fullback load, iso lead etc.

If the FB is offset strong? You can run power weak? I've never seen it.

Coach Albaugh yeah I agree with that, traditionally you would see power to the strong side. What I'm saying is, I don't believe running weak side is completely out of the question if FB is offset strong

he never said it was out of the question, he was more saying that they are matched up numbers wise and are prepared for it

Wow, that seems like a scary way to handle #'s vs motion/fast motion...D-line late moving, doesn't hear call, or LB doesn't recognize need to man over could end up in a lot of trouble...secondary moving/rotating to motions (not T.E. trades) and LB's w/out moving D-line seems more practical... I used to shift over vs unbalanced sets but in the 3-3-5 I've learned easier for kids who can actually see the motion can adjust to it easier...thanks!

Good insight, Coach. I suppose I failed to explain correctly.
This concept is not intended to be an answer to shifts and motion. The footage is of us practicing counting numbers. We would shift to allow the kids to see the change in numbers that a shift would cause. If we were in a game and suspected a quick motion to change numbers, we would not expect our kids to shift the whole front if not given enough time. We would account for that quick shift in some other way.

right, like i sad i used to shift vs unbalanced sets but got better reads out of guards then tackles and pushing or rotating over seemed easier..enjoy watching your channel, thanks!

Just a question, but have you toyed with running power? You could especially run that within your rocket series to stop people from jumping belly and rocket

Ummmmm wouldn’t that be 10 vs 11? Not enough men on the field for Florida?
