I've noticed this since I got my Pixel 6. The new 50MP sensor is big enough that you don't even need to bother with the gimmicky cinematic and portrait modes. It does well enough on its own to create a good DOF without any processing.
I totally agree with you Austin. That is why I felt compelled to do this video. I am sure that I will use these features once they mature but for now I will just use the rear sensor. Btw, thanks for coming through.
Great video. Love how you captured the natural bokeh outdoors in sunlight. I also agree that Google should add 24fps as that is the golden standard for cinematic video.
Yes, I respect the other frame rates but my brain always responds to 24 FPS 😂. Most of my video game demos look choppy because I forget to put my top down in 60 FPS 😂. Thanks for coming through Jojo!
Excited for this video. Appreciate the perspective and thought provoking content. In regards to the current state of these features you highlighted, I think they are pretty good. Specifically, the pro model and a pro mode of these phones could potentially be the place to feature these capabilities. Unfortunately, most consumers won't use it, they just point and shoot without thoughts.
I totally agree Sneed and wish I had of reference that in the video. Another reason to flip your camera around and just use the physics of the sensor. Thanks for coming through Smeeeeeeddddddd!
Another informative and excellent video. Cinematic modes have a place for sure, but the large sensors on phones these days are really capable of getting enough depth of field in most situations, imo.
Agreed, although I am glad that the technology is advancing there is so much that we already have with most modern sensors. Thanks for stopping by Frank.

One feature I like about the Pixel 7 is the 'Magic Eraser'! That's really cool! Thanks for sharing.
