    Kevin Kelly being fired kinda makes sense. Even though I love Kevin Kelly's commentary, I don't think he ever really FIT with AEW. You could tell that AEW really brought him into Collision to be THE voice of Collision and his style didn't really mesh well with AEW broadcasting style. Maybe he'll be back in New Japan eventually like they do Gino, but in the end you are right. Its REALLY weird he got fired from AEW. (Future Proofing in case there is a completely separate reason that we're not being told.)

    I’m not going to speak to the movie the Sound of Freedom as I have never watched it. But the the real guy who the movie is about along with people who made it & are it it are very problematic. The guy who the movie is about right now is being investigated for Vince McMahon level allegations. & I know a lot of the stuff in the movie is said to be fiction masquerading as a true story.
    Now do I think watching the the movie & endorsing it is a fireable offense of corse not. But if Kevin if anyone suspected Kevin of falling into an ideology of people who endorsed the film it would have probably put eyes on him.
    To explain in a more understandable way without going into detail about Quanon I’m about to be 45 & there’s people I’ve been friends with since elementary & middle school who fell into such belief & the likeness of me ever associating with any of them ever again is close to impossible.

    'AEW never fired anybody' i mean .. did you forget CM Punk? 😅 Also yeah, Kevin Kelly had always been tweeting weird takes even since his NJPW days (and i think he keep getaway with it because he work for foreign company who dont care what he tweeted) so i guess it only take times before it get the nerves of someone he work with in AEW😆

      Punk literally had to lunge at the guy who runs the company after being in two physical altercations and multiple other issues like not allowing the head of talent relations to attend the Saturday shows. My only question is why it took so long for Punk to be fired. As to Kelly, I didn't think he fit very well, but I don't think he did anything to be fired over, unless there is more going on that we don't know about.

      Yes, that was the whole "you'd have to basically assault Tony Khan and shit on his product to get fired" line was about. :)

    It's a shame about Kevin Kelly.
    And i don't think it's really about the money to Okada, he really had a bond with the young bucks going way back so the move was a no brainer but I don't doubt wwe offered something comparable.
    I like your take on aew, people are quick to forget it's only a few years old and the owner "sort of" saved ROH while all trying to both capitalize on a hot time in the indies and Japan and rolled that in with some fresh talent none of us were talking about before.
    I love aew but I was really hoping to see okada vs Roman or Cody

    You have to remember that this is not ‘The Vince McMahon Lawsuit’ this is ‘The WWE, Vince McMahon and John Laurinaitis Lawsuit’. The company itself is the primary defendant. If those corporate officers are found to have had knowledge of the sexual abuse and trafficking, it is a very big deal indeed.
    Regarding Okada’s remuneration, $13M seems like a poor RoI to me. Perhaps more more spent on hiring people for merchandise, advertising, marketing etc would be wiser. How are there no corporate sponsors of note for AEW shows? Why do they still run all their merch through Pro-Wrestling Tees? If these things are too boring for Tony, maybe he should appoint a CEO to take care of it

    It's my understanding, based on what Riccaboni tweeted, that (along with the right-wing stuff) KK also said unfair things about his work with ROH and Riccaboni took this hard because he had gotten Kevin the AEW job. KK then retaliated with a Twitter rant about how Ian's "libel" was costing him work and air time. I feel like it was slagging off a colleague in a public forum that cost Kevin his job, along with dissatisfaction with his work, more than the right-wing views. But, what do I know.

  • @rriggs6547
    @rriggs6547 6 місяців тому

    I fully expected Okada to join AEW. I also think Okada being heel brings a new dimension that we haven't really explored before. I hope this goes well. If Tony wants to pay Okada that much then he can. I have said for years that Okada is the best wrestler in the world in the ring. I love Omega and Okada both. I just happen to think Okada is the best there is right now.
    I loved Kevin Kelly in NJPW. Not sure he really got a good period to acclimate and prove his worth. I will say I didn't think he fit very well when I did see him. I guess if AEW paid a bunch of money for him and felt he didn't deliver what they thought he should it makes sense to cut ties with him. Still feels like there has to be something more to this story.
    As to the 4 WWE people who are alleged to have known there was some form of a relation with VKM, I am sure they were aware of some relationship. That does not mean they were aware of exactly what was happening. They probably thought there was a mutual relationship where she got a job and he got his ... What Vince is accused of is rather out there. If I had been an exec for WWE at the time I probably would have thought what Vince was doing was unethical but not illegal and he is the guy who runs the company. Now the accusations are that there is far more that was happening than many were aware of. Again, these are allegations. The problem is that it appears there has been a persistent culture at WWE that allowed this crap to occur multiple times. And the people named are, for the most part, big names that supposedly should have curbed this crap.

    Okada making 4.5 Million a year, I guess that’s close to today’s equivalent of Bret Hart making 3 Million a year with WCW in the 90’s but WCW shit the bed!! It’s awesome that Tony can pay out that kind of money but there will be other talents there (MJF) that think they should be getting that pay and that can cause the type of backstage drama that the dirt sheets love to eat up, we’ll see how it plays out 🤷🏾‍♂️

    I don't think Kevin Kelly is alt right. Anyone blamed for being alt right would stupidly own up to it instead of calling his fellow conspirators wackos, which is what Kelly has done. He just made the mistake of endorsing a movie starring a vocal QAnon nut job on twitter where everyone overreacts. I think he is getting fired for threatening to sue Ian for something he said in a chat room somewhere or something? Might've been discord? I saw the screen shots that Kelly posted when he threatened suing for libel, and assume that was the line that got him axed, but I could be wrong. Had the pleasure of meeting Kelly at a local indie show where he called commentary for the night. Seemed like a good enough dude. While I found his last few months in NJPW a bit grating just based on his co-commentator being an onion, I wouldn't mind seeing him back.

  • @ridleyroid9060
    @ridleyroid9060 6 місяців тому

    Wasn't expecting Kevin to get fired, I like him, but he needs a professional wrist slapper for whenever he gets on twitter, seriously. He treats that platform like a personal grievance venting outlet. For some that may be fine but never forget that your twitter isn't seen just by your friends and family like it generally is, your tweets are there for everyone, whether they find them right now or down the line. And one of those people that can see those tweets are your employers. And if you're insulting other employees while your in the company, well, you kinda get what's comin' to ya.
    I hope that AEW can accept Kevin back in NJPW and have that not compromise the partnership, I really like his commentary and think he fits NJ to a tee, he is a big big big reason as to why I am such a big fan of the product and while Walker isn't terrible, it really doesn't feel the same as Chris and Kelly. Whenever I watch NJPW with Chris n Kelly it almost feels like I am watching with friends and one of the friends likes to call out all of the moves and storylines, while the other fills in any storyline gaps, is super knowledgable about history and knows Japanese. It's really unique (at least I think it is, there may be other such commentators I am just not aware of).

  • @jmp591
    @jmp591 6 місяців тому +6

    If I had to guess Kevin was fired because he started tweeting all this stuff on the weekend of stings retirement match and AEW and TK are sick of all the drama. Worlds End(even though it was probably there worst PPV) had the Jericho stuff and All In and All Out the year before had the Punk stuff. They were getting a lot of good coverage over how they did Stinga retirement and Kevin risked all that getting overshadowed by going on a twitter rant,. Also as far as I know Ian never said anything about his commentary skills, about a year ago in a discord chat he said if I knew Kelly was going to promote a Q movie I would have never recommended him. So with all that and given that TK clearly wasn't happy with his comentary, this was the final straw.

    • @rriggs6547
      @rriggs6547 6 місяців тому +1

      The thing with the Jericho stuff is that Jericho wasn't even involved. It was a made up controversy by a crap journo. Still not sure how the movie is a Q movie. It has nothing to do with that conspiracy.

    • @jmp591
      @jmp591 6 місяців тому +2

      @rriggs6547 I agree about the Jericho stuff but whether it was true or not isnt the point, the point is everytime they put on a big show it seems some drama from inside the company happens and completly takes over the news cycle so instead of people talking about CM Punk beating Mox for the world title they're talking about brawl out, instead of people talking about them putting on a near sold out show in Wembly they're talking about Punk and Jack Perry and instead of people talking about Samoa Joe being the new world champ and Adam Cole being revealed as the devil they're talking about the Jericho allegations, so when they put on what a lot of people are saying was 1 of if not there best show ever and handled the Sting retirement perfectly and finally seem to be turning a corner when it comes to fans persebtion and then Kevin Kelly decides for no good reason to go on a twitter rant unpromoted by anything, about sometging that hes known about for a long time its going to piss off a lot of people in the company, and when your boss already isn't happy with your work, lets not forget about the weeks of screwing up peoples names, then its probably gonna be enough to get you fired, thats my theory at least. As for the movie, I haven't seen it, but from what I heard is the creator or something has said he believes in the Q stuff. I dont think anyone or Ian at least is saying the movie itself is about Q anon, just that Kevin promoted a movie that was made by someone who's into that stuff. Also, it's not like Ian tweeted about this. He mentioned it in a discord that he thought was private, and someone leaked it. That's what I've heard anyway.

    • @Lastrit_JME
      @Lastrit_JME 6 місяців тому

      @@rriggs6547 The movie does not directly reference Q-Anon, but it's director and star actor are vocal Q-Anon supporters and a lot of actual anti-trafficking organizations didn't like the movie because they said it was full of a bunch of innacuracies that leant credence to conspiracy theories.Not saying it's like 100% a Q-anon movie, just that it's definitely connected to it

    • @Thatdeal79
      @Thatdeal79 6 місяців тому

      The guy the movie is about & the main actor in the movie are 2 of the biggest Quanon promoters & followers out there. I heard they make sure not to mention anything Quanon in the film but a lot of the early screenings were Quanon lead & promoted filled with Q followers. So going on Twitter & promoting that is a slippery slope.

    • @rassslinRant
      @rassslinRant  6 місяців тому +2

      Again, I know very little about the Quanon group but I did see the movie. I didn't find anything overtly "believe in our cult" type of stuff in it (and I look for that in most movies as it is in most movies today). But I guess this is like Tom Cruise and Scientology, although Cruise is big enough a star that no one really gets upset about it to any real degree that'll affect the films.

    • @rriggs6547

      The problem with that is everyone who has any experience has been part of WWE at some point. The only people left are this geeky looking guy who started and runs AEW, a bunch of people in Japan who do things very differently, and a number of unknown people from independent promotions. WWE would drastically change to the point it might not be sustainable. That wouldn't really affect me as I don't watch WWE, but it would be a massive blow to the industry. I guess you could put Heyman, Bischoff, or Cornette in charge, but all of them have had some major issues as well.

Believing that TKO should have cleaned house is an opinion. I have believed for years that WWE was a toxic environment and Vince and his entire group of sycophants needed to go. We have known for years that severe bullying was going on. We have known about crap with sexual misconduct and with all sorts of ish things going on. I think a guy got fired for coughing. There have been rape and steroid allegations for over 40 years. They put a convicted murderer and an alleged murderer in their HOF. Their culture was cancerous. It may still be. The only reason I haven't said everyone needs fired is the damage it would cause wrestling as a whole.

Vince, Bruce, Dunne, Michaels, Flair, Hogan, and several others have been caught up in the crap. That includes HHH. He is part of the system that permitted the abusive culture to exist. He stood by for years and, at the very least, stood by and said nothing to stop it. And given that it wasn't a secret that Vince had relationships with people employed by WWE HHH knew Vince abused his power. To the extent? We don't know. AEWs approach to opperating under debt doesn't excuse in any way the issue of overpaying Okada, especially when the only person on commentary who even knows of what he has actually done in Japan, has now been fired for, pretty much just throwing the same kinda fit Tony has every weekend on X? but nobody saw it because it's LITERALLY KEVIN KELLY.
