+Nic S I used to bite my nails habitually also... sometimes to the point that my fingers hurt because my nails were so short. Filing and painting helps, it really does. It might take awhile for your nails to grow out enough to be uniform and pretty but it's worth it (it's also better on your teeth to avoid nail biting.) A few good, thick coats of nail polish and top coat is a pretty good deterrent and nail painting is therapeutic/relaxing. :)
For the anxiety, you could try a stress ball instead? Anything to give your hands something to do/obsess over could help.
I so know this problem! I bit my nails for many years (until I started to be disgusted by that). Now I have developed a skin picking disorder which also happens when I don't notice it. Sometimes I realize it when I am already bleeding. I pick skin everywhere, especially in my face and at the cuticles, which always looks like I had severe acne or other skin illnesses :(
there's this weird nail polish and its for people who bite their nails and it looks clear but when you bite them it tastes DISGUSTING so you stop biting them idk where you can find it but i used to bite my nails like three years ago and it totally fixed the problem. hope this helped

Because there are so many people who comment that they don't do their nails but watch religiously, I just wanted to say that because of your channel I've recently started doing gradients, reciprocal gradients, using nail vinyls and striping tape and have been discovering the wonder of holo and multi-chrome. I decided that after years of biting my nails that I'm going to grow them out. This means painting them every week and I actually bought the nail oil that you recommend and it works so well! I've been doing this for just over a month and I can see such a huge difference in my nails; they're definitely a lot more flexible now. This is going to make you cringe, Cristine. I have major anxiety issues. Don't bite them! But during horrible high anxiety times, I pick them super short. Below my nailbed short. It's painful, and looks horrible. *Bawls* I will never have great yellowed in nails from using the beauty that is Holo!

i bit my nails for almost 18 years. i started right after i grew my first teeth. my nails bled all the time because they were so so short. and it hurt like hell... so three months ago i decided to get fake nails and after one fail (because my nails were too short and i forcefully bit and ripped the gel nails off in my need to bite them) the nail stylist tried it once again with a different kind of fake nail. and getting those thick long fake nails i couldnt bite really saved me because after they she took them off (only one month later) the need to bite them wasnt there anymore, and now im living a happy life with my new long natural nails! you would be surprised how fast they grew undr the fake nails. so dont worry, theres hope for you too!

I don't do my nails often, but I try to take care of them and get them to a desired length for special occasions and I want to make sure they don't break in that time. Mainly looking for some tips???
Yes def wear at least a base coat if you're not wearing polish! Maybe also a clear top coat! It will help trap water out 🙃
