After getting to M1 on the Master Duel ladder and going against this deck so many times, it did beg the question to me too, “Why is this not being played in the TCG?” I always assume the answer is Maxx C, but there’s actually more layers to it than what you uncovered. 1) Since Master Duel is a best of one, there is no way to know your opponent is on Snake Eye and not just pure Kashtira. You may bait out a hand trap in game 1, but are unlikely to in games 2 & 3, which defeats a lot of the purpose. 2) Birth and Prosperity are limited in MD which makes Unicorn a much bigger choke point for Kashtira. Using a hand trap on Unicorn is a lot stronger in MD than in the TCG against pure Kash. 3) Ariseheart is legal. If your opponent summons Unicorn, it represents Ariseheart on its own, and if you can’t out that card, then that means Unicorn demands a response.
I don't agree, because Kash is not really a viable deck in MD, if your opponent drops a unicorn, you should always assume it's a snake eye deck or some other deck that uses it as engine. So you never commit any hand traps on unicorn. If they do end up being pure kash or they play theosis which can lead to them having arise, you can still ash the theosis, or if you have imperm, imperm the arise during your turn. In my opinion, if kash snake eye is well known now, then unicorn shouldn't bait out stuff anymore

I'm saying in md ppl shouldn't be interacting with Unicorn which makes it so that in higher levels unicorn doesn't bait out stuff, but rather the ex deck banish is critical and you get to trigger it when they hand trap your snake eye stuff, usually both sides end up with a small board because of heavy handtraps, and that's why the kash cards are good. So they are good, but for a different reason. I think even in tcg kash cards might be worth a try

The talk at the end about how it's sad that past formats don't get explored fully reminds me of the few historic formats that DO stick around, like Goat and Edison. Heck, the deck that Goat format is named for, Goat Control, is like... A tier 2 deck at best, as it turns out. I think Goat is considered pretty "solved" but I swear there's some new innovation in Edison every few months, even now, over a decade later!
Yup Edison has developed like crazy. Stuff like Gemini, Welledad and even stuff like instant fusion zombies. Given enough time, a format can develop a whole lot
I've found a few cool techs for goat format, but yeah, that format being around for nearly 20 years with such a limited pool is starting to hurt it now. Still a very enjoyable format though.
I believe Zoodiac Format wasn't perfectly solved. Gamma was out at that time but just not known. Imagine how crazy gamma could have been in pure Zoo mirrors
I wish there were more events during AGOV format. There were so many different ways to leverage Diabellstar that are now just eclipsed by the snake-eyes themselves and didnt get enough time to be explored. Im honestly hoping for whatever hits happen to the deck on the next banlist to target snake-eyes specifically and not the sinful spoils side of stuff so those cards get another chance to shine.
Hey I played the kash variant in duelist cup as well. I wanted to give a quick mention on something with kashtira unicorn as a body because of the 2 bodies and like you said how it lets you after getting imperm'd on Ash but if you dont stopped and make the full board that ends on Amblowhale. Since this variant wasnt running the synchro package and had the extra deck space to fit the accesscode line you can also make zealantis turn 1 to protect your Apollousa. Its 2 pops in the battle phase compared to 1 battle negate with linkuriboh and people are often forced to try and go battle phase hit the apollousa. And it plays around evenly as well cuz if they evenly you then you can chain zealantis to send your flamberge's after it resolves you get to keep Apollousa on board and flamberge will trigger after the chain resolves keeping your princess live.
I agree 100% on the format not being solved all the way in fact I started using the Kashtira engine like this in many decks back in October I believe. I started splashing it everything even a Phantom knight deck I was a little obsessed with tinkering with it and been playing with it in different decks since i got the package. Since I play both Tcg and master duel I told my friend about the idea of Snake-eyes with a Kash engine in TCG a while ago. Now I can't afford to play Snake-eyes so in the end it was just talk between me and my friend but I've had this idea and many others with the Kashtira engine. I think innovation and creativity are important. Doing things others don't expect or are different often give you a edge as long as they are reasonable and not too gimmicky anyway. I just have fun with it and fine tune as I go through testing these types of ideas.
thats super accurate. goat format was goat control dominated for years. it wasnt until some years ago that there was innovation with chaos warriors that led to a chaos turbo variant that has been the most dominant deck in that format for years now.

I guess, we sometimes see a bit of that innovation (at locals?) when people improve some of the best decks of older formats and - even though, they might not be the best decks - have a surprisingly good deck. You know, I mean instead of having the secretly best deck of an old format, a banlist or a new set came too soon and they "just" have a good rogue strategy instead.
Ive been using kashtira as a engine in spright for months since last year. Helped me push the boundaries of the deck. Spot removal, Baiting, breaking boards, making boards, dwindling my opponent resources via extra deck, gy & field to basic game states, help break through rogue decks more easily. Play through hand traps and put a simple board. I love the engine. I have tried alot of diff techs in my spright and totally love my spright kashtira deck. Have topped countless locals, even won. Also won my ycs invitational. Topped alot of ots championships, if here in my country Trinidad we had a ycs I'm confident i would top that as well maybe even win. Its a good engine for decks that needs that extra push and can facilitate it.
i think we have plenty room to innovate. i think we could see some runick variants, something i was playing around with in master duel last weekend when i focused on getting snake eye cards before hand traps and it was easier to craft most runick cards which were SR. without fountain, hugin, and tip though, it obviously wasn’t as strong, but i found using them as board breakers and layered interruptions was great. mixing those resource engines seems good. i’ve also thought about trying to make some form of bystial snake eye synchro deck but i’m still cooking. the bystials are great hand traps but also an amazing resource engine that can act as extenders, especially against veiler, and as board breakers through druiswurm or even magnumhut search druiswurm. i’ve also seen builds running Sauravis as a hand trap that can be searched off the magnumhut and i think it’s pretty solid to consider as an extender. but at the same time, crossout designator and TTT feel so strong and do the job of these cards, and crossout designator does too. it’s all just another way to face the hand traps wars.
What I found fun this format is actually using Fenrir with Tear Kash. If I have access to diabellstar, that gets me dracossack, which can detach fenrir, get 2 tokens, then tear kash does its thing.
I loved PoTe format, arguably my favorite competitive format of all time. Tear wasn't the best deck yet, a lot of Spright innovation, but still you could go with any deck and compete (for example I went to troll with D/D before Bystials come out and surprisingly they had a very good Spright matchup). DaBL was also very short before the chaos of MaMa made Tear the best deck of all time and should have been explored a lot more. Also I wonder how AgOv would evolve against the powercreep of PHNI and if Unchained/Rescue/Lab would be able to keep up with Snakes. AgOv is my new and improved TOSS I will love to revisit a couple of years later. About TCG Kash Snakes, my only question is: If we give up the handtraps/Crossout for the Kash engine, is that change capable enough to allow us play through the Snake board going second? The idea is that Snakes cannot break a full/semi-full snake board that's why they need 15-23 handtraps (post side). While I get how much Kash improves the going first plays I don't believe they provide enough for the going second plays. Even with a shift to a heavier Kash package and boardbreakers (Droplet, E-con, Books), the followup snakes generate is too much.
Finally i'm super excited for Unchained because I believe they have a very good Snake matchup but Maxx C is definitely going to be a HUGE pain for the deck, limiting even more our flex spots and maybe this time Tour Guide is not the way.
I recommand one hand trap against Snake Eyes that is pretty good if you go second against it with your Snake Eyes or another deck that has at least one link summon. It's knightmare Incarnation Idlee, this cards needs a link rating of 8 of all link monsters that are currently on the field. If so, it can special summon itself, is protected against destruction effects and if your opponen has more link monsters than you do, you can Zeus them to the GY, all link monsters. Sure the link rating requirement is big and usually Snake Eyes hasn't that much on the field. But if they summoned enough link monsters or bring Promethean Princess back and you bait with one link monsters, you can use her. I don't say this is insane or anything like that, i used her in the DC within my Snake Eyes deck when i'm going second and she helped me out a couple of times. This is just to give you guys an idea of a card that if used correctly could help you out against that deck. Sure, could maybe help against Mathmech too. That being said, i hope this card can help someone out and please don't forget Phantazmay this format, probably the best enviroment for it right now.
Tear format was cut short when the banlist killed it but going into PHHY it would have been so interesting to have to decide on playing bystials when thrust is in the format. Also playing something like Nibiru got overlooked because of rulkallos but often if you had 1 bystial or imperm Nibiru would instantly win you the game
unicorn is also great bc you summon it and your opponent maxx “c”s you and you get to rip a card out, and you can’t play around both gamma and that you gotta choose
BRO I WAS TRYING TO TAKE KASH SNAKE EYE TO RALEIGH YOU ARE LEAKING THE GOO!!!! I have gone back and forth on ratios, but I think just 3 fenrir, 3 unicorn and 1 birth is fine. The issue is you can't fit like 15 handtraps and crossout/lullaby, but I think those extra handtraps lose value in non-mirror matches along with crossout and lullaby. I think against random decks the kash cards actually help a lot. Even pure snake eye players are realizing how good 3 fenrir is this format, it's in almost every side deck at the moment. It does have some conflicts with nib and bystials going 2nd, but I think post side you can adjust and cut the 3 unicorn/1 birth for 4 bystials against VV and 3 fenrirs for cosmic cyclones or something.
MD is obsessed with the Kashtira Unicorn/Birth engine in Snake-Eyes for some reason. Splitting it 2/2 instead of 3/1 on their next banlist doesn't change a thing outside of making some people consider running a second Birth(which can make Fenrir more annoying since you're more likely to have Birth before the Unicorn). I still attest that Bonfire is Droll bait, and being HOPT is also a potential issue if you want to run multiple copies of it. You still always want at least 1 as a Thrust target in case the opponent's best hand trap opportunity is an Ash Blossom activated prior.
This is actually pretty sick, I’m a super casual player but using Unicorn and Birth like that in Snake eye is genius. The banish 3 effect on birth is crippling if it goes off. awesome stuff Jesse
unicorn being 2 link materials or 1 link material+ 1 def position monster + 2 interactions is so good in scareclaw also you can revive scarekash it has so many utility
Uni corn ripping prometheus or formula is so nice against pure. I 100% agree this format inset solved. With enough experimentation, we could find a deck on the same level or at least able to compete with the snake decks. If u look at master duel, Yh there’s no phoenix, there is bonfire now, but also ignoring SHS, there’s loads of tier 2 and some tier 3 decks that are competing too. Look at the invitational that Revs and Jess won and maybe an anti meta deck could be adapted to the TCG from that, yeah I know nobody likes stun, but it’s just an example.

Psy-Framegear Gamma as hand trap, card was around in 2016 Monarch format but wasn't used in this way until 2017, looking back it could've been pretty potent if realised earlier.
I wouldn't call ot an innovation per say, but I'm enjoying playing nekroz in voiceless atm. It's nice having more engone so I don't lose to handtraps ans setting up a unicore is pretty nasty against most decks. I've also trished 3 people going first xd.
Yes they use unicorn to bait out hand trap negates but they mostly use it because of maxx c snake eyes doesn't have a good board against maxx not unless they they have a way to negate the roach passing with Unicorn with 2 extra deck rips is kinda strong.

And if we look at TCG let's imagine bonfire is hit on the banlists or Ash is banned, we may comeback. I gonna give a small example of mine, i was snake eyes on my locals and everyone starts to play board breakers approach, what i did? Put a small T.G engine and did Calamity Lock with snake eyes. Purrely, why purrely players are not looking more into ghostrick variant? Unchained, no one is trying that card you talk about some months ago, Berserker or Infernoid package. I gonna try don't care, even if is online or at locals levels. I was thinking about formats i want last longer, POTE was one, with Danger Tear and Spright, Unchained was getting to the spot off clearly being the best deck, with Apollousa lines or Runick Bystials, i want to see different approach to that deck, like we see a guy instead of using Quem using Stardust and other using deep sea diva and Yamato Orochi. I guess the question is would this kash package be worth playing now with bonfire in master duel. Is it worth going over 40 cards include it. You’l draw less hand traps but you may also draw less cards you font wanna draw. Birth. Sinful searches. Mainly flame berg. Even oak. I’ve been playing 42 cards. It feels fine. Opinions ?
If you want another level of snake eye you play some dopplel warriors and some junk syncrons and play it like the old shooting quaser decks but better.
Anytime I see Fenrir, it makes life a lot easier. Unicorn also still Auto wins against some decks with the ED snipe. They are already Meta proven threats so I think they are worth playing.
It's sad that we couldn' experience the format in the beginning of the year with the new banned list before maze of millenia. Could have been beautiful.

A fun deck is swordoul with chaofeng fire lock. Only issue is knowing whether to do a fire lock chaofeng or light/dark lock chaofeng. Pretty fun to do on master duel
Cool thing is that Ashuna plus adhara gets you to the light/fire lock with Chaofeng. And it doesn’t use your normal summon. Unfortunately you have to use Shaman in that line and you won’t be able to summon a Chixiao to get his on summon effect for follow up but is still something you can do
@@mattrnash39 that's one way to do it but I've been making chaofeng as the dark/light lock himself by using chiwen, yazi and a mare mare token. Combo is very easy actually. Did it to a mannadium player yesterday and he literally couldn't do anything. Pretty funny
I've thought of maining Fenrir but not the whole engine but this was due to drawing 5 hand trap hands and just wanted something that was good for 1st and 2nd and put a body on board
hopefully master duel meta can keep close enough to tcg/ocg to have these interspections more often. most of the time master duel is just too far behind to really be part of the conversation

@@jessekottonygoI mean it can brick don’t get me wrong, the odd time I’ll get a turn one hand of like ash, cricket, camelia, tree and like blossom or imperm or something, and then you’re kind of reliant on the normal summon not getting hand trapped, but I’m at like 80% win rate so it usually works really well, even just doing all snake eyes plays and getting cricket in grave to have Naturia plays on opps turn is mad fun, pure snake eyes is better but I have more fun playing two engines and making different types of boards ! Also using one engine to bait and having the second engine as follow up usually blindsides people 😂 many times I’ve dumped tree with diabelle and people just scoop instantly LOL

@@jessekottonygo you have 1 Unihorn and 1 Birth as Engine to always have Access for a Lv7 Monster. Together with Tuner and Rulers you can Summon XYZ Rank 7, Synchro 8 and 10. Worst Case Scenario you hard summon Lv 7 Monster
As for me I have taken a different approach to the format through my research and 20+ years of experience in this game I have found some interesting counters to the tier 0 deck and thus I am dusting off invoked Dogmatika shaddoll that plays a tech in the extra with the direct target of shattering the fire boards as they really fall apart if I banish their board state before I start pushing for massive amounts of damage also it being 4k plus makes it super hard to deal with if they do survive

I do genuinely get annoyed by how little people are seemingly willingly to experiment during a format. Half of what myself and other players at my locals that want to top regionals use that locals to just spitball ideas or try some kind of strange brew just to see what works. One guy for awhile was trying out snake eye volcanic, which while not likely to win a YCS, was still taking names and doing incredible. There’s so many things to try that I wish players were more open minded.

Dragon link format. I was ending on Harold, tornado dragon, seal/app, Savage dragon, with a Scythe and you rip 1 card. This deck played halq and had a higher ceiling than the build that just played chamber with a rocket engine. I found that I played through Droll and Lances better. Nibiru the same and never lost a game to Droplets or Drnm ever. I played through hand traps better. Also this board was standard there were times where I could do the same board + dweller or seal and app. It was truly an ftk that broke boards better because I was on the red eyes package before it was even cool. This was during the time where people decided tidying chamber and seyfer were "good." I played it like that and found the deck to be bad I innovated it to a consistent built utilizing the red rose engine and dagda and found a way to make the deck much better. I had multiple premier top players (not gonna mention names out of respect) ask for this build as soon as they lost to it. It also played through ash Impermanence better as it incorporated more extenders like world legacy and unexpected dai at a higher card count. It felt great because I actually did not just innovate I built an entire different version that was much better than what people were playing. I also still had room for non engine as I mained Gamma + nibiru. I also had room to either main Lancea + Droll. Still imo a better ftk than full power covid rock. As for innovating snake eyes I agree. There is a way to do it. It is a combo engine. If sharvara did not go to 1 there could have been something there. Hornet drones and sky package could have something there. D link engine could have something there but unfortunately nothing seems to be better for me so far and I believe the Kash engine follows too closely to what it already does but plays in to Droll more. I think the deck with d link is not bad to be able to make herald, Savage / barone, flame, have princess in grave app or seal up and borrelend is a pseudo FTK. The issue is going second. At a higher card count I found there was a lot of non engine room and the deck still consistently played through hand traps and made the board. However, there were bricks required to play. Well, pseudo bricks. But borrelend arguably made it worth it. Decks. All decks have a giant issue dealing with thos card and them passing back to you is admitting defeat. If the deck were to get hit as long as we have Witch + original people will eventually play it with d link. Bystials are also a thing but in what I put together I played a very small package of then due to the demanding numbers of d link cards needed and snake eyes. Like everyone else I just switched to pure or fire king but that build was way more fun your combos are super long and take more skill. However, pure takes more skill with interaction. So, arguably, it would take less skill. Either, way I was surprised no one was on better D link variants within that format because I broke that deck and tbh, Jesse it was a build you, yourself would probably play and go, yeah, this is just much better.

Formats like Edison and Goat really show how no format is ever solved in the short time we have it. Goatcontrol was the deck to beat during Goatformat. Turns out the actual best decks are Chaos and FTK. Gadgets were considered a top tier deck for SJC Edison... Its not even rogue anymore. Instead we are now playing Fairys, Dragons and Blackwings. The Blackwings lists are on Vayu. Ask 10 people at SJC edison what Vayu does and maybe 1 person will know. Gamma would have been insane in so many formats, but it took very long for people to realize how powerful it truely is. I could go on forever. It takes years to solve formats. Weeks or even Months are not enough in the slightest.

I've found a few cool techs for goat format, but yeah, that format being around for nearly 20 years with such a limited pool is starting to hurt it now.
Still a very enjoyable format though.
I believe Zoodiac Format wasn't perfectly solved. Gamma was out at that time but just not known. Imagine how crazy gamma could have been in pure Zoo mirrors

I wish there were more events during AGOV format. There were so many different ways to leverage Diabellstar that are now just eclipsed by the snake-eyes themselves and didnt get enough time to be explored. Im honestly hoping for whatever hits happen to the deck on the next banlist to target snake-eyes specifically and not the sinful spoils side of stuff so those cards get another chance to shine.
I completely agree! The diabellstar cards are such interesting extenders and have synergies is so many ways that helps format innovation in general 😎

Hey I played the kash variant in duelist cup as well. I wanted to give a quick mention on something with kashtira unicorn as a body because of the 2 bodies and like you said how it lets you after getting imperm'd on Ash but if you dont stopped and make the full board that ends on Amblowhale. Since this variant wasnt running the synchro package and had the extra deck space to fit the accesscode line you can also make zealantis turn 1 to protect your Apollousa. Its 2 pops in the battle phase compared to 1 battle negate with linkuriboh and people are often forced to try and go battle phase hit the apollousa. And it plays around evenly as well cuz if they evenly you then you can chain zealantis to send your flamberge's after it resolves you get to keep Apollousa on board and flamberge will trigger after the chain resolves keeping your princess live.
I agree 100% on the format not being solved all the way in fact I started using the Kashtira engine like this in many decks back in October I believe. I started splashing it everything even a Phantom knight deck I was a little obsessed with tinkering with it and been playing with it in different decks since i got the package. Since I play both Tcg and master duel I told my friend about the idea of Snake-eyes with a Kash engine in TCG a while ago. Now I can't afford to play Snake-eyes so in the end it was just talk between me and my friend but I've had this idea and many others with the Kashtira engine. I think innovation and creativity are important. Doing things others don't expect or are different often give you a edge as long as they are reasonable and not too gimmicky anyway. I just have fun with it and fine tune as I go through testing these types of ideas.
thats super accurate. goat format was goat control dominated for years. it wasnt until some years ago that there was innovation with chaos warriors that led to a chaos turbo variant that has been the most dominant deck in that format for years now.

I guess, we sometimes see a bit of that innovation (at locals?) when people improve some of the best decks of older formats and - even though, they might not be the best decks - have a surprisingly good deck. You know, I mean instead of having the secretly best deck of an old format, a banlist or a new set came too soon and they "just" have a good rogue strategy instead.
Ive been using kashtira as a engine in spright for months since last year. Helped me push the boundaries of the deck. Spot removal, Baiting, breaking boards, making boards, dwindling my opponent resources via extra deck, gy & field to basic game states, help break through rogue decks more easily. Play through hand traps and put a simple board. I love the engine. I have tried alot of diff techs in my spright and totally love my spright kashtira deck. Have topped countless locals, even won. Also won my ycs invitational. Topped alot of ots championships, if here in my country Trinidad we had a ycs I'm confident i would top that as well maybe even win. Its a good engine for decks that needs that extra push and can facilitate it.
It’s crazy how good those cards are especially extenders that add advantage and apply pressure 🤯 more decks can definitely get creative with them
If an Exodia deck can top a YCS in the modern format, what is the potential for any other rogue deck to do the same?
i think we have plenty room to innovate. i think we could see some runick variants, something i was playing around with in master duel last weekend when i focused on getting snake eye cards before hand traps and it was easier to craft most runick cards which were SR. without fountain, hugin, and tip though, it obviously wasn’t as strong, but i found using them as board breakers and layered interruptions was great. mixing those resource engines seems good.
i’ve also thought about trying to make some form of bystial snake eye synchro deck but i’m still cooking. the bystials are great hand traps but also an amazing resource engine that can act as extenders, especially against veiler, and as board breakers through druiswurm or even magnumhut search druiswurm. i’ve also seen builds running Sauravis as a hand trap that can be searched off the magnumhut and i think it’s pretty solid to consider as an extender.
but at the same time, crossout designator and TTT feel so strong and do the job of these cards, and crossout designator does too. it’s all just another way to face the hand traps wars.

There is also a 60 card decklist of snake eyes kashtira, that was played in a regional in Germany. I am testing it currently and it is awesome.
What I found fun this format is actually using Fenrir with Tear Kash. If I have access to diabellstar, that gets me dracossack, which can detach fenrir, get 2 tokens, then tear kash does its thing.
I loved PoTe format, arguably my favorite competitive format of all time. Tear wasn't the best deck yet, a lot of Spright innovation, but still you could go with any deck and compete (for example I went to troll with D/D before Bystials come out and surprisingly they had a very good Spright matchup). DaBL was also very short before the chaos of MaMa made Tear the best deck of all time and should have been explored a lot more.
Also I wonder how AgOv would evolve against the powercreep of PHNI and if Unchained/Rescue/Lab would be able to keep up with Snakes. AgOv is my new and improved TOSS I will love to revisit a couple of years later.
About TCG Kash Snakes, my only question is: If we give up the handtraps/Crossout for the Kash engine, is that change capable enough to allow us play through the Snake board going second? The idea is that Snakes cannot break a full/semi-full snake board that's why they need 15-23 handtraps (post side). While I get how much Kash improves the going first plays I don't believe they provide enough for the going second plays. Even with a shift to a heavier Kash package and boardbreakers (Droplet, E-con, Books), the followup snakes generate is too much.
Finally i'm super excited for Unchained because I believe they have a very good Snake matchup but Maxx C is definitely going to be a HUGE pain for the deck, limiting even more our flex spots and maybe this time Tour Guide is not the way.

I recommand one hand trap against Snake Eyes that is pretty good if you go second against it with your Snake Eyes or another deck that has at least one link summon. It's knightmare Incarnation Idlee, this cards needs a link rating of 8 of all link monsters that are currently on the field. If so, it can special summon itself, is protected against destruction effects and if your opponen has more link monsters than you do, you can Zeus them to the GY, all link monsters. Sure the link rating requirement is big and usually Snake Eyes hasn't that much on the field. But if they summoned enough link monsters or bring Promethean Princess back and you bait with one link monsters, you can use her. I don't say this is insane or anything like that, i used her in the DC within my Snake Eyes deck when i'm going second and she helped me out a couple of times. This is just to give you guys an idea of a card that if used correctly could help you out against that deck. Sure, could maybe help against Mathmech too. That being said, i hope this card can help someone out and please don't forget Phantazmay this format, probably the best enviroment for it right now.
Tear format was cut short when the banlist killed it but going into PHHY it would have been so interesting to have to decide on playing bystials when thrust is in the format. Also playing something like Nibiru got overlooked because of rulkallos but often if you had 1 bystial or imperm Nibiru would instantly win you the game

unicorn is also great bc you summon it and your opponent maxx “c”s you and you get to rip a card out, and you can’t play around both gamma and that you gotta choose
BRO I WAS TRYING TO TAKE KASH SNAKE EYE TO RALEIGH YOU ARE LEAKING THE GOO!!!! I have gone back and forth on ratios, but I think just 3 fenrir, 3 unicorn and 1 birth is fine. The issue is you can't fit like 15 handtraps and crossout/lullaby, but I think those extra handtraps lose value in non-mirror matches along with crossout and lullaby. I think against random decks the kash cards actually help a lot.
Even pure snake eye players are realizing how good 3 fenrir is this format, it's in almost every side deck at the moment. It does have some conflicts with nib and bystials going 2nd, but I think post side you can adjust and cut the 3 unicorn/1 birth for 4 bystials against VV and 3 fenrirs for cosmic cyclones or something.
MD is obsessed with the Kashtira Unicorn/Birth engine in Snake-Eyes for some reason. Splitting it 2/2 instead of 3/1 on their next banlist doesn't change a thing outside of making some people consider running a second Birth(which can make Fenrir more annoying since you're more likely to have Birth before the Unicorn).
I still attest that Bonfire is Droll bait, and being HOPT is also a potential issue if you want to run multiple copies of it. You still always want at least 1 as a Thrust target in case the opponent's best hand trap opportunity is an Ash Blossom activated prior.
This is actually pretty sick, I’m a super casual player but using Unicorn and Birth like that in Snake eye is genius. The banish 3 effect on birth is crippling if it goes off. awesome stuff Jesse
I feel like Secret Slayers format was underexplored, Block Dragon Megalith was legit, people just thought blue card bad since after Nekroz.
And I completely agree, Megalith was genuinely a good deck all around so I wonder how that would’ve developed had we played it out 👀
Secret Slayers probably is the most unexplored format of all time imo lmao. We literally got robbed by the pandemic and Konami was dropping straight 🔥
I still like playing megalith without block dragon but losing needlefiber hurt the going first combos with gallant granite into researcher lines
unicorn being 2 link materials or 1 link material+ 1 def position monster + 2 interactions is so good in scareclaw also you can revive scarekash it has so many utility
Uni corn ripping prometheus or formula is so nice against pure. I 100% agree this format inset solved. With enough experimentation, we could find a deck on the same level or at least able to compete with the snake decks. If u look at master duel, Yh there’s no phoenix, there is bonfire now, but also ignoring SHS, there’s loads of tier 2 and some tier 3 decks that are competing too. Look at the invitational that Revs and Jess won and maybe an anti meta deck could be adapted to the TCG from that, yeah I know nobody likes stun, but it’s just an example.
The format between Darkwingblast and MaMa…when Tear was pure powerful and actually kinda balanced… and Plants were the best deck lol

Psy-Framegear Gamma as hand trap, card was around in 2016 Monarch format but wasn't used in this way until 2017, looking back it could've been pretty potent if realised earlier.

I wouldn't call ot an innovation per say, but I'm enjoying playing nekroz in voiceless atm. It's nice having more engone so I don't lose to handtraps ans setting up a unicore is pretty nasty against most decks. I've also trished 3 people going first xd.

Yes they use unicorn to bait out hand trap negates but they mostly use it because of maxx c snake eyes doesn't have a good board against maxx not unless they they have a way to negate the roach passing with Unicorn with 2 extra deck rips is kinda strong.
Yeah so true! And just because bonfire is released on master duel don't mean change's the ideas on this video. And if we look at TCG let's imagine bonfire is hit on the banlists or Ash is banned, we may comeback. I gonna give a small example of mine, i was snake eyes on my locals and everyone starts to play board breakers approach, what i did? Put a small T.G engine and did Calamity Lock with snake eyes.

I was thinking about formats i want last longer, POTE was one, with Danger Tear and Spright, Unchained was getting to the spot off clearly being the best deck, with Apollousa lines or Runick Bystials, i want to see different approach to that deck, like we see a guy instead of using Quem using Stardust and other using deep sea diva and Yamato Orochi.

Anytime I see Fenrir, it makes life a lot easier. Unicorn also still Auto wins against some decks with the ED snipe. They are already Meta proven threats so I think they are worth playing.

A fun deck is swordoul with chaofeng fire lock. Only issue is knowing whether to do a fire lock chaofeng or light/dark lock chaofeng. Pretty fun to do on master duel

Cool thing is that Ashuna plus adhara gets you to the light/fire lock with Chaofeng. And it doesn’t use your normal summon. Unfortunately you have to use Shaman in that line and you won’t be able to summon a Chixiao to get his on summon effect for follow up but is still something you can do
@@mattrnash39 that's one way to do it but I've been making chaofeng as the dark/light lock himself by using chiwen, yazi and a mare mare token. Combo is very easy actually. Did it to a mannadium player yesterday and he literally couldn't do anything. Pretty funny

@@jessekottonygoI mean it can brick don’t get me wrong, the odd time I’ll get a turn one hand of like ash, cricket, camelia, tree and like blossom or imperm or something, and then you’re kind of reliant on the normal summon not getting hand trapped, but I’m at like 80% win rate so it usually works really well, even just doing all snake eyes plays and getting cricket in grave to have Naturia plays on opps turn is mad fun, pure snake eyes is better but I have more fun playing two engines and making different types of boards ! Also using one engine to bait and having the second engine as follow up usually blindsides people 😂 many times I’ve dumped tree with diabelle and people just scoop instantly LOL

As for me I have taken a different approach to the format through my research and 20+ years of experience in this game I have found some interesting counters to the tier 0 deck and thus I am dusting off invoked Dogmatika shaddoll that plays a tech in the extra with the direct target of shattering the fire boards as they really fall apart if I banish their board state before I start pushing for massive amounts of damage also it being 4k plus makes it super hard to deal with if they do survive

I do genuinely get annoyed by how little people are seemingly willingly to experiment during a format. Half of what myself and other players at my locals that want to top regionals use that locals to just spitball ideas or try some kind of strange brew just to see what works. One guy for awhile was trying out snake eye volcanic, which while not likely to win a YCS, was still taking names and doing incredible. There’s so many things to try that I wish players were more open minded.

Dragon link format.
I was ending on Harold, tornado dragon, seal/app, Savage dragon, with a Scythe and you rip 1 card. This deck played halq and had a higher ceiling than the build that just played chamber with a rocket engine. I found that I played through Droll and Lances better. Nibiru the same and never lost a game to Droplets or Drnm ever. I played through hand traps better. Also this board was standard there were times where I could do the same board + dweller or seal and app. It was truly an ftk that broke boards better because I was on the red eyes package before it was even cool. This was during the time where people decided tidying chamber and seyfer were "good." I played it like that and found the deck to be bad I innovated it to a consistent built utilizing the red rose engine and dagda and found a way to make the deck much better. I had multiple premier top players (not gonna mention names out of respect) ask for this build as soon as they lost to it. It also played through ash Impermanence better as it incorporated more extenders like world legacy and unexpected dai at a higher card count. It felt great because I actually did not just innovate I built an entire different version that was much better than what people were playing. I also still had room for non engine as I mained Gamma + nibiru. I also had room to either main Lancea + Droll. Still imo a better ftk than full power covid rock. As for innovating snake eyes I agree. There is a way to do it. It is a combo engine. If sharvara did not go to 1 there could have been something there. Hornet drones and sky package could have something there. D link engine could have something there but unfortunately nothing seems to be better for me so far and I believe the Kash engine follows too closely to what it already does but plays in to Droll more. I think the deck with d link is not bad to be able to make herald, Savage / barone, flame, have princess in grave app or seal up and borrelend is a pseudo FTK. The issue is going second. At a higher card count I found there was a lot of non engine room and the deck still consistently played through hand traps and made the board. However, there were bricks required to play. Well, pseudo bricks. But borrelend arguably made it worth it. Decks. All decks have a giant issue dealing with thos card and them passing back to you is admitting defeat. If the deck were to get hit as long as we have Witch + original people will eventually play it with d link. Bystials are also a thing but in what I put together I played a very small package of then due to the demanding numbers of d link cards needed and snake eyes. Like everyone else I just switched to pure or fire king but that build was way more fun your combos are super long and take more skill. However, pure takes more skill with interaction. So, arguably, it would take less skill. Either, way I was surprised no one was on better D link variants within that format because I broke that deck and tbh, Jesse it was a build you, yourself would probably play and go, yeah, this is just much better.

Formats like Edison and Goat really show how no format is ever solved in the short time we have it.
Goatcontrol was the deck to beat during Goatformat. Turns out the actual best decks are Chaos and FTK.
Gadgets were considered a top tier deck for SJC Edison... Its not even rogue anymore. Instead we are now playing Fairys, Dragons and Blackwings. The Blackwings lists are on Vayu. Ask 10 people at SJC edison what Vayu does and maybe 1 person will know.
Gamma would have been insane in so many formats, but it took very long for people to realize how powerful it truely is.
I could go on forever. It takes years to solve formats. Weeks or even Months are not enough in the slightest.
