I've seen a lot of people be kinda upset that this album is mostly singles and stuff that was performed live, but to be honest, as someone that doesn't attend live shows, nor do I really actively listen to 100 gecs, I really quite like this album, it has a permanent space of residence on the playlist I put on when playing Session: Skate Sim.

On one hand this one doesn't have that many sonic attacks on the listener but on the other hand my brain loves that shit when it's done right. It also has way less experimental "jokey" songs which I'm again torn over. Either way an absolute banger of an album and love damn near every song on it.

In a few decades it is possible people will look back at 100gecs and other hyper pop artists in a way that resembles the current view of 1970s hip hop pioneers. The self reference and remixing that characterizes so much of 100gecs is throughly post modern and is under appreciated by the wider public.

I'm almost definitely biased because nearly all hyperpop really isn't my thing, but at the same time the sound and mixing is so abrasive I don't think it could ever gain the same following as stuff like hiphop could. this is sort of pushing sound as a concept, if that makes sense. if anything it gets seen as more of a curiousity than purely acquired taste I'm listening through this video for the first time, and a couple of these songs are like "man, there's something really good here but there's just ONE thing that really irks me" and then the rest are like "...okay" frog on the floor??? bros shitposting

What i love about this album is that so many of the songs are just really simple good songs, and that allows the fun to shine through, but it also allows the duo to polish the hell out of them. I struggle to make happy music, even my happiest songs have a hint of bittersweetness to them, but something about these songs just radiate pure Joy. It's refreshing and wonderful.
Quite a few of the songs in this album reminded me of one of my favourite bands, Streetlight Manifesto. Except instead of lyrics about the deep rooted issues of western society, they're songs about dental pain. And I'm all in for it.

Quite a few of the songs in this album reminded me of one of my favourite bands, Streetlight Manifesto. Except instead of lyrics about the deep rooted issues of western society, they're songs about dental pain. And I'm all in for it.
When i heard i just got my tooth removed for the first time all i could think of was streetlight manifesto lmao. Can't wait to see them live again later this year

Great video! I saw this video after watching a fan made MV for doritos & fritos and I told myself I would get back to this after I listened to the full album. After listening to the album over and over for months, I suddenly remembered I wanted to watch this video and I do not regret it. Your reactions were great, the charting and lyric effects were awesome, and you played hella good drums. Bravo, 10/10, mememe and doritos & fritos are fighting for the #1 spot in my head at all times.
