This is fair logic Mike, it's like small guitars, the small neck span creates too much tension & they're impossible to tune. It's much better to have larger area where all of those forces can breathe. I love Avet reels.
My God Mike I’m am once again blown away by the simple little tips I’ve learned from your channel that I never knew, this is unbelievable, thank you Mike ❤
Thanks Ken!!! I appreciate your continued support!! I do have a bunch more that I’m gonna post, but I have a special trick I’m posting for you brother!!! I think you will appreciate it. Thanks again brother!
Yeah man!! I posted a video saying how I prefer to use open conventional reels for my live and cut bait rods, and how you will boat more fish if you get away from level winds when you don’t need them. A few guys flipped out in the comments 😂😂. They ranted about how stupid I was and that a levelwind is exactly the same as open reels and I should do some research before posting that BS. They all ended with ID LOVE TO HEAR YOU EXPLAIN THAT. So I replied very simply; when the guide is on ONE side of the spool and the line is laying on the OTHER side, the line buries hard into the spool and quite often the line snaps, or the jump in drag tension pulls or even straightens the hook. I never got a single reply after that🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️and there were quite a few guy’s saying that. That video touched a nerve like no other video I ever posted. Weird. Thanks for your continued support brother!! 😁😁😁👍
Baitcasters are my go to for eels. I only use Spinning when I’m fishing light tackle or windy conditions. It’s a lot easier to winch the fish in with baitcasters/conventionals.
How y'all doin' Mike? It caught my attention the other day as I was putting new line on my reels to "line up" the guide with where the line was on the spool. Now, I'll be paying attention where those two points are after the cast (where I can, depending on lure/presentation), but still, I'll be looking. You may have mentioned this previously, in case I missed it and possibly another good short for you. What particular stripe rods (actions of your customs ones linked) and accompanying reels are you using with different presentations (i.e. light/heavy cut bait, light/heavy lures) and how about the lines/leaders used. That may be a deep rabbit hole, so many thanks in advance. Hope all is well with you, the guys and y'alls families. May the good Lord continue to bless all of you, oh...another great video, appreciate ya!
Thanks brother!!! I appreciate that!! I shot this one last year on my rods line etc. let me know if you need any other info. Rich Coulson Makes my signature rods. They are all moderately fast action but power ratings vary from ML to Extra Heavy. It’s also in the video. The Striper Stealth bait rods are all slow action. If you want a bait rod that you can also troll heavy baits with get the Heavy power. Coupon Smedley5 will save you some cash too.
Thanks Mike, yeah...funny, I didn't remember I had viewed that particular video already, but never hurts to revisit it. I've recently invested in my first 'big swimbait' rod and it's pretty much a bigger version of my bass flippin'/pitchin' "pool cue like" bass rods and I'll be using it for casting big shad/trout baits for stripe on the Cumberland. Having said this, what you've mentioned about the Striper Stealth rods' "slow action" (even with different power ratings) will provide that give and take when a big ole good 'un hits it and takes off and "to me, it makes good, good sense...good sense..." ::cue AC/DC's Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution.
I put those in there for you brother because I know you will watch till the very end 😁😁😉😉. It helps me a lot when you watch the whole thing!!! Thanks Larry!!!🙏🙏🙏🙏😁
I dont like the small spools because the big fish run your ass out of line and break it off at the end, lmao!!! Been there and lost a giant!!! Never again Great tip,I have never noticed that but will now
Thanks brother!!! For my smaller reels I stack 2 different lines. The small Shimano reel at the end of this video only holds 90 yds of 50lb braid. Since I only use 5-6lbs of drag MAX I put 30 yards or so of 30lb braid or 40 yards of 20lb. By stacking 70 yards of 50lb over 40 yards of 20 I can get to 110 yards total so if a big fish rips a lot of line out, I’m looking down at 40 more yards of line instead of the knot on the spool. You may ask why not use 20 or 30lb on the entire spool? Braid is so thin that’s it not very abrasion resistant so I’d rather work with the 50lb for 99% of the time with the lighter line there only for insurance 👍👍. Thanks for your continued support brother!!! It means a lot and I appreciate it 😁👍
This is very true. Took me a long time to figure out what was happening. Great informational vid.
