To say this, for old school gamers that played racing games back on SNES, SEGA Genesis, PS1 like Top Gear, SEGA Rally, Daytona USA, Test Drive 4, Road Rash, Motor Toon Grand Prix, Ridge Racer, etc that only had the D-Pad to control the steering. Making the transition to play PC racing games like NFS:PU or Driver, the mechanics are pretty much the same with the directional steering. There’s just more controls and the inputs are more direct compared to the D-Pad controller
It still amazes me how you could even do smooth driving on keyboard, i could do arcade games on keyboard fine but being able to do this on a simcadey or just borderline sim game is seriously impressive
Have you ever tried to play the new Forza with keyboard? I also thought it was impossible, but I tried playing with keyboard last week and after around half hour adapting, my lab time was not too much worse than my controller lab (maybe I am just too bad with controller 🤣...). I think Turn 10 gives keyboard some hidden help to balance the game. One very obvious part is the corner exit: I drove a high power car and TCS off. With controller, full throttle at corner exit sends the car spin 90% time, however, with keyboard, the car was fine... Similar thing happens to braking with ABS off - full braking with controller 100% locks the wheels , but full braking with keyboard was fine on my car...
@@urbi9374 You're correct. They adapt inputs when a player is using the keyboard to make it easier and compensate for its on/off nature. ISAD is competitive, there's no way he'd use the keyboard if it left lap time on the table.

@@zaki_1337 now all keyboards are the same, mine has a lot of lag when you lift your finger, so, minimal adjusts are HORRIBLE to do.
I personally don't think keyboard overlay takes away from the entertainment. I think that visually showing what controllers are doing in racing games add to the video. If all I have to go off of are brake lights, I don't know what was actually happening very well. I feel the same way about replay systems in racing games. If I can't see what was happening on controller, even if I was driving, it makes it harder to piece together what happened on a corner/crash

The penalty system in this game is absolutely infuriating. Perfect driving as always.
People complain when its too strict, then people complain its too lenient. Its one or the other without human judgement an in game system isn't going to be perfect
As a person who played racing games including simcade stuffs with keybiard all my life (console population in Korea is incredibily low so we are used to playing with keyboards more than controllers), it just makes sense. So much more intuitive imo
That final race with the devil z against the type 550 52:18 Porsche was a great race!!! And it all happened while using a keyboard!!!! My mind is 🤯 and the talent and skill 🔥🔥🔥😎
Yeah, WTF is up with 6:12. That this is a penalty seems to indicate the penalty system is broken or non functional. So why have it. Are good penalties just semi-lucky? The game knows steering inputs for all. I've seen all too frequent instances like this, in many varied circumstances.
@@normanblack4005 Im not certain, but in cases like those where its a light tap you almost always have to let off at least a little bit. if you collide or go off track while full throttle its almost a guarantee that you get penalized
My first reaction to those binds were disgust, then I took a moment to realize the ergonomics and now I get it. I might have a go with those binds and practice for a few hours.
Haha same, I was like it's not the WASD setup? So I placed my fingers over his button set up and was like hmm, I could do this. Trying it in game would be another thing though hahaha! I do play with the D-pad arrows on my controller so I'm used to the full left-right movements, we'll see. :)
Seeing the keybinds is pretty interesting... My personal keybind for racing games is usually arrow keys for gas steer and brake (and maybe if possible have the S key for brake too. If not then just S key for brake) then use E and D or E and C for gearshift keys
I love seeing some support for the keyboard warriors like us, the controller bourgeoisie will NEVER understand the pain of throttle cut and how we ADAPTED and OVERCAME to our current status of... well...

This video is a perfect example that you 100% could use a keyboard in a simcade. Gamepads are good, but a lot of users play with them just like on a keyboard - full throttle and stick is either 100% on one side or in center
back when i first started racing games on my integrated graphics need for speed carbon, i too used the keyboard. later, when i got an xbox, i switched to controller and never looked back. All these years later and I'd still get my ass kicked by you in forza.

I played the first few laps of the intro sequence on the keyboard because I was too lazy to plug in my wheel. I just wanted to have a look at the menu because I didn't have time to get started on the game when I first downloaded it. It took me quite a while to get around those three laps in the prototype, and I think I finished last. It was a complete nightmare to drive, and I don't know how people do it. This is an extremely impressive display.
I honestly don't think that having the keyboard layout on screen is really gonna effect the entertainment value of your videos. From my point of view the value in entertainment that you bring to the table is, the funny and crazy races you end up in yet still demolish. The icing on the cake is that, when i eventually went to the description and read you are playing on KB, i actually laughed out loud as you drive around controller players like they aren't moving. To now be able to visualize your skill on KB, makes the video just a bit better. Again tho, just my opinion.
out of all the racing games ive played this game is the most keyboard friendly with good deadzones and keyboard turn control, most other games dont even bother coding in a good assist for keyboard users

I'd argue that keyboard gives some unfair advantage. I'm basing that off of my experience in FH5. I started playing with my newbie friends. I used a controller, they played on keybaord. In certain situations. Since the game can not steer left immediately it feels like there's is a right amount of steer according to speed. Whereas on a controller it's more direct (not a wheel type of directness ofc). So yeah either they both had innate skills to racing games or I just truly suck after all these years 😂 Anyway. Great driving man :)
People in halo do this too. Bad controller player faces m and k player inherently way more skilled and assumes it’s the input method despite the fact that m and k is a handicap. If you aren’t the same skill level as your friends than the comparisons are completely meaningless as the only way to test is to have someone who is equally good at controller and keyboard to do some lap testing. And if you actually think keyboard is better than controller do a lap test yourself, it will be a rude awakening for you

recently started playing on kbm with motorsport for reasons,, it was a learning curve with the instant left and right when trying to turn ,, but you get it down,, got my ai maxed out and i start at the back and still win .. so its doable ,,
See 28:37 is my biggest problem with aerowash. I expect them to get a normal clean corner exit because they are driving the normal line, but then they spin the tires and I hit their rear. Usually giving me a penalty.
Throttle control by rapidly smacking the throttle button. All keyboard racers will probably have experience in doing that so much that their W button faded first more than any other keys

I Don't know his settings but i notice that he has ABS on so i would assume he runs 100% but i could be wrong. I also have no idea if there would be any benefit to running above 100% brake pressure but if there is I'd love to know.
@@BilzoToGo that's why I am asking. Because I am running with ABS too. I usually tend to run 85 to 90%. Because the car tends to 'roll' better into the corner and it doesn't get very off balance while getting on or off the brakes. Some say to never run brakes below 100%. So I am asking here, because while not playing on a keyboard, or lines and braking approach seems to me very similar.

Kinda weird how people are surprised that you can drive clean on a keyboard... I'm more surprised by people that can drive clean on a controller, since controller is made for left-handed people...
The handling model in general sucks for this Forza game, I mostly attribute it to the “delay” that they have as a setting before registering it as an input. In the settings there is an option where you have to hold the stick in a direction for a certain timeframe before it registers it as an input with the lowest duration be .5 Seconds. You might think that it’s not so bad, then you realize in racing games every tenth (.1s) matters, this is why everyone tends to overshoot the first corner.
Are they going to fix the rating system soon? It's fun as hell to watch you dominate races, but I want to see some competition in your races as well. Battling with drivers who are just as good as you.
I'm new to racing games and was wondering what was the decision making process of the NSX GT3 race that you decided to pit stop and change tires? And was that change of tires the reason why you could gap close so fast with the P1 car with 6 secs lead?
Props for the driving, absolutely lovely. However, i would like to ask you : what's your pc specs and hows the game performance ? I absolutely love this game but i cant fucking enjoy it cause once every 2 or 3 races i get : infinite loading screen, black screen, "getting event schedule" infinite screen, crash to desktop or my fps drops from 80 to like 15... This is the absolute worst state i've seen a game be in. I cannot fix this pile of shit after countless file repairs, reinstalls, driver updates etc

Are you using the left index for throttle and brake, and a combination of right thumb/index/middle finger for steering and shifting?
Left index/middle for throttle/brake. 3 right mid fingers for steering and shifting.
So AZ on your left hand and arrow keys on the right, correct?
Ho much hp for the 240z, it was making wheelspins at the start?
What is aero wash. Is that where your drafting a person in front of u and it causes them to lose grip.
This is literally my keybind.. and left key to look back, and right key is for looking left, and play it like an controller user
I'm new to racing games and was wondering what was the decision making process of the NSX GT3 race that you decided to pit stop and change tires? And was that change of tires the reason why you could gap close so fast with the P1 car with 6 secs lead?
Medium tires only lasts for 5 laps. So you must pit for fresh tires to maintain pace.

However, i would like to ask you : what's your pc specs and hows the game performance ? I absolutely love this game but i cant fucking enjoy it cause once every 2 or 3 races i get : infinite loading screen, black screen, "getting event schedule" infinite screen, crash to desktop or my fps drops from 80 to like 15...
This is the absolute worst state i've seen a game be in. I cannot fix this pile of shit after countless file repairs, reinstalls, driver updates etc
I'm on 3080, game performance is a bit inconsistent atm and lots of alt-f4s.
