I have given all my ACC rods away except for the first two I bought which were the red ones. He no longer sells the red rods (I don't know why) but they were far better than the green. Every single green rod I owned, the center of the eyelets would fall out after a year or so of use. So all the hype is just that, hype. I can't see paying that much money for a rod that won't hold up. Victor, let me know how long it takes before the eyelets start falling apart on that ACC.
I really appreciate your feedback! I really do! My rod is getting ready to be a giveaway. I can't get used to that grip and is too stiff for the fish that swim around me and i just prefer the other rods.
@@ifishcatfish That is why I love the ACC Crappie Stix is how Stiff they are... Around here where I fish we catch 2 and 3 pound crappie all the time... I'm glad you made this video. I was considering getting one of these just because I saw everyone using them. I really appreciate your honest reviews. As soon as this video went off I got online to get a presso but I saw they only have rods that come in pieces. This really brought me down as I don't have any Daiwa rods but I love their reels. You have an awesome rod/reel arsenal by the way! Great video thanks!
The Presso has this high end connection that I see on my $250 british carp rods. It looks nothing like the connections on the ACC or the ugly stick or shakespeare , where u put the top piece on top of the paint and with time it get's lose. The connection is designed with super hard surface and will never get lose and also is a pleasure to put on. But I never disassemble my rods that are under 8' anyway. Also, the blank is so flexy, that it will flex down to the handle, regardless of the connection. You MUST buy this rod, Casey, there is nothing like it, I promise you. When you hook a nice bluegill it will put a grin on your face, i promise you!
I have 5 ACC Crappie Stix rods, and love every single one. What you pointed out has never been even noticed. All I know is that they perform very well, and I am very satisfied with these rods. Very sensitive and good backbone.
That's because this is a bass rod. He just got a bass blank and used it for crappie fishing. If u are catching big fish the blank is fine. but for anything under 10 inches it is too stiff. The handle though... he put it on the blank the wrong way... it is upside down.
I bought and sold this rod. Lost about $20 in the process. I just got frustrated with the grip as I fish a lot of 1/32oz jigs and like having feel in my index finger. Somehow I came across a rod made by Field&Stream I believe called the TechLight. It's the best true ultralight rod I've found for my fishing. I've paired it with an Okuma Epixor XT20 and for under $100 the combo is just right.
I have a shakespeare micro 7'UL and i love it. I use it for creeks and small ponds. I've caught a brown trout out of the mad river about the length of my elbow to my finger tip. Landed tons of creek smallmouths. 3 to 4 pound carp and even 5 pound channel cats. Only complaint is the color. Never realy liked the look of the acc crappie stix but was considering getting one. Thanks for your reviews very informative. I'd like to see how you seal your cork handles if you might consider doing a video on that.
I agree completely with your post even about the color, haha. Go watch my review of the Shakespeare Micro and you will hear me complain about the color choice! : ) I am preparing a video on sealing the cork handles.
thank you for the honest review sr. I was ready to order one, just because everyone talks about the ACC crappie stick, but I have several others fishing roads, just like the ones you are talking about.
I love fishing with true ultralight tackle, and not just for small fish. I hate horsing fish in, and I hate seeing others do it. To me, if you can horse a big fish in, your gear in far too heaving, line included. Way back when I was still very young, I bought a tiny Zebco 202 out of pure curiosity, and used it for a couple of months. I caught everything from bluegill to crappie to a thirty-five pound carp with it. At the time, I think it cost something like five dollars for rod and reel. I used the reel, the rod, and the line that came together. That got me started on true ultralight fishing, and I still love it. It's a challenge, and more important, it's sportsmanship. I've used a used a lot of rods after that. Some were good, some were bad, and some were simply mislabeled to a ridiculous extent. I do use light action for some fishing, and these rods seem to have no real standard. For really large fish, I even use medium action rods. These have better standards, or so it seems to me. The action can be all over the place on rods labeled "light" action, despite how the rods are labeled. I love the color of the ACC rod, and I like the swell of the handle. Everything else about it is just wrong. It is NOT a light action rod, and it is not worth the price. It's stiffer, and the action heavier, than several of my medium rods, and I wonder if this is why the rod doestn't have any information on it about it's action, or what weight lures should be used? Anyway, the Shakespeare rod is better in every way. ACC makes some decent rods, but someone wasn't thinking when this one went on the drawing board, or when they approved the first test rods that China produced for them.
I share your sentiment 100%. I LOVE the catfishing community, but those folks are absolutely insane about equipment. I watch a lot of saltwater fishing and I see guys like Key West Kayak Fishing fight huge sharks and tarpon with totaly average gear, but the catfish anglers's equipment is just absurd. Half of the catfish rods at the catfish conference will NOT bend even with a 6' shark. This is not exaggeration! Reels are being replaced by these huge winches, line is always 30lb +. This absolutely MURDERS the pleasure of fishing! I use small ugly sticks for catfishing paired with a low profile reel. If I ever get a trophy cat, I am gona take my time and enjoy the peeling drag. If I lose the fish in a fair fight - it earned its freedom! And yes, there is a reason the ACC crappie stix have no information about action and power.. The bulge is wrong though. I have baitcasters and the bulge falls in the middle of the palm when you hold the reel the way you like it. This bulge is not in the middle of the palm but all the way at the very end of the palm, which makes for a very awkward grip. I wish u could try it and ..
